  • Hey all, I'm baaack! Our little Valentine's trip was a complete success. We had a lot of fun. He was totally surprised when I showed up at work, the hijacking was fun, and he didn't have any idea where we were going, even after we got there! I had to show him the big "WATER PARK" sign. He said I was "hot" about a billion times. Guess my new outfit worked. And we had a delicous dinner. I did pretty well - had the sirloin steak with sauerkraut, and allowed myself one slice of rye bread, and about 1/2 cup delicous cottage cheese w/chives. Mmm. Then, of course, dh had to get the Death by Chocolate dessert. I am sad to say I had about 1/4 of the dessert, but it was scrumptious! We played at the water park for 2 hours. It was amazing - I was wearing a swim suit (with swim shorts) and I didn't feel self conscious at all. That's got to be a first ever. I splurged later on a tiny bag of Cheetos, and actually felt pretty sick by the time the evening was over. For breakfast today I was good though - I had oatmeal and fresh fruit. Gotta make sure I get 100% back on plan today, keep it up with my no sugar rule, and stay the course. Anyway, we had a great time, and it all worked really well.

Congrats everyone, on the great weigh-ins!

    Angela
  • I'm so happy that you had fun!! It sounds like a fabulous time -- and I think you did a great job with the eating. Welcome back!
  • Here I am - finally - after a crazy busy day at work! ..and I'm so hungry! (not sure why cuz I had a bigger than normal lunch - altho maybe light on the protein??)

Angela - welcome back - sounds like you both had a great time - and you probably worked off all those dessert calories in the water park!

Vickie - hang in there - no gain is a good thing (even tho it was also no loss)...we expect your body to "readjust" itself some more!

Congrats vermont Kathy for hitting the 30 lb mark - something to be very proud of! Any rewards planned for yourself?

Now Kathy - I think that extra pound is DEFINITELY due to the Mexican food - hope you are guzzling the water to get rid of it. And I also have always felt that maintenance is WAY HARDER than losing the weight (altho that seems pretty hard at the time). You are doing great - need to learn how your body will react to different foods! We're all rooting for you!

Lisa - I know a few people around here who could use a "friendship club" Where do they sign up?

I am feeling a bit sniffly today? Hope I am not coming down w/something (altho when I do not get ENUF REST, I do tend to get tired and run down and bugs just seem to find me!). Had an all morning meeting today where they actually SERVED POPCORN at 10 am!!! (okay we were watching some videos). I could barely stomach it and ended up bringing in my sf/ff yogurt and decaf. Unfortunately my water consumption has not been what it should be today and I hope I don't suffer at the scale tomorrow.

Very hungry this afternoon, and should have had my fruit snack, but no time. Not good to go home ravenous!!! HELP!

I am also getting depressed about this March travel thing - my girlfriend and I are having trouble finding something "suitable" to both of us - especially where date/location/price is concerned. Finally found something today (Huatulco, Mexico), great resort which suddenly dropped in price (was unaffordable last week). Problem is I need to get to Toronto (don't want to drive 5 hours there and back w/dd) and the flight times/cost is PROBLEMATIC! I will have to fly in day before and overnight in Toronto (flight leaves at 6:20 am). The return trip is the problem - Cheap flight is not a "legal connection" and later flight is WAY MORE $$$ - not sure what to do and this is making me cranky! Have to do my taxes this weekend to see exactly how much $$ I'm getting back - but even so, I can't bear spending more than I have to (I would make a crummy millionaire! ).

I am leaning toward the "bad" connection if my girlfriend/travel agent will make the booking and I will take the risk. Worse case scenario I guess is we miss that flight...and I have to pay even more $$$ for another flight (but hopefully I will be so happy and relaxed from my holiday I won't mind paying more to get back home? )

But the place we have chosen is QUITE AMAZING - reviews are great, service food is excellent (24 hour room service!!)...5 pools, nice beach...what more could a Frouf ask for?

    Froufie
  • Hi Ladies I got home about an hour ago Mom and I ended up shopping and ofcourse no Gowns for Kierie I'm going to a wedding in april
All i had today grrr was a banana a glass of milk and just now a potato and a salad with rf ranch dressing I'll prolly grab a banana later today was too crazy and our only food stop was Dunkins so I had a coffee (3 sips of a coffee to be exact) with cream and no sugar) then to driving lessons which went really well with the new adaptations

Lisa! Thats an awesome Idea for the friendship group I wish they'd have them for adult women too!
    Vermont Kathy WOOHOOOO!
Angela you Vixen I'm glad you both had a great time
Frouf Take me with you! I'm short I can squish up!
  • Oh, Frouf, it sounds GREAT! I'd be there in a heartbeat to join you if I could!! I love Mexico!

So, Judd (DH) bought his new truck today, so we go out tonight to celebrate. I'll just go crazy and wild and eat/drink whatever I want, then start over tomorrow and try to stay on track. I'm thinking about things (wheels are turning ... turning ... TURNING) -- I have just bought a domain name this afternoon for a new workout facility here in our town. Tomorrow I will start shopping for a location, look for a certified aerobics instructor, equipment, etc. I think that might be the ONE thing that could keep me motivated and going. I really don't like working for "the man" ... and have always wanted to own my own business. I also have to work on the SBA loans, etc. but I just KNOW I can make it work because our area doesn't really have anything much except for Curves and Jazzercize. We are a very small, but rapidly growing, suburb between Dallas and Fort Worth. Anyway, I have my catchy name (not telling you though), am building the starter website tomorrow, and then next week will jump headlong into making some plans. It could even be a year or so away from fruition, but meanwhile I have a hobby and something to keep me hopeful!!
  • Frouf, I have a DD, can we come? Mexico sounds delightful! Maybe someday my DD and I will take a trip. Will probably have to wait until DS is a little older and no so attached to my hip.

Kathy - You go girl! That sounds really cool. Wish I had the gumption to start something like that. We have so much around here, I don't think it would fly. We have Golds gym, Platinum Fitness, Curves - another one just opened sort of like Curves - can't remember the name; plus we have the local township rec center with a gym and a pool. I think I need bifocals keep squinting to see things.

Okay, didn't exercise yesterday or today, so going now to walk at least 20 minutes on the treadmill. I'll check back later.

    Lisa
  • Greetings everyone,
I am sorry to say that I will be leaving the board for a while, tests did not turn out as possitive as I had hoped for... so in the mean time I will no longer be doing CORE.... thank you for all of the supprot you gave me.... I will pop back in from time to time to say "HI" when all is" well "I will be back....

    wriben
  • Good Luck Wribbenn!
  • Quick Question:
Is part skim Mozzarella the same as low fat?
  • Everyone is welcome to join in on Frouf's Mexican Adventure - the more the merrier! Kathy I think I am flying right over Texas on my way down - look for me I will be waving!

Wribben - sorry to hear you're leaving - please drop by and "visit"...best of luck!

Kathy - congrats on the new truck, but mostly for the business venture!!! How exciting! Wish I could do something like that! You go gir!

No dinner when I got home (dh is not too adept at getting things done!)....so I ate "sporadically" - a diet pepsi, some marinated herring, a baked potato w/lf sour cream & chives,..and some rice cakes (salsa & sour cream flavor!). At least I'm not hungry now!

The good news is I did exercise - 30 whole minutes on the treadmill 3.2 mph at 2% elevation - which I figure is better than nothing!

    Frouf
  • Angela, I'm so glad to hear that your trip was a huge success! What more encouragement could a girl need but for her husband to tell her how hot she is. Woo Hoo! That ought to keep ya going for a while.

Frouf, it's cool that you are planning something so fun to look forward to.

Kathy, what a great thing to have in your life. Maybe this new business venture will distract you and give you something fun to focus on.

Wriben, I'm so sorry that your news wasn't great. Please let us know if there is any support we can provide. We'll be here when you are ready to Core again!

Frannie, where are you? I'm a little concerned about you!
  • Hi everyone! I have a few minutes before the kids get here so I though I would check in. Thanks everyone for the encouraging words when I was going through a rough patch staying on program. I am happy to say that I am back and have lost the lbs. I gained when I was sick and even lost 1/2 lb. to boot! I am enjoying exercise again outside walking the dogs. I am training them to a new routine of staying in the pen during the day while I am at work and that means a walk morning and afternoon to help tire them out. Works for me too!

Hey, I think 1/4 of dessert on a very special night for you and DH is a VERY GOOD THING! Remember when you would have been stuffed from a fattening meal and THEN ate the entire dessert and half of his? Well, maybe that was me but anyway you get the idea. Moderation is always a good thing. Besides, bet you worked it off later!
  • That's so true Janette. Before Core, I would have stuffed on all the side dishes (they bring them out in huge bowls) and then eaten a whole dessert just so I could get everything I "deserved." I forgot to mention that Friday morning, when dh was snoring (grrr!) and I couldn't sleep, I went to the hotel gym and walked on the treadmill for 30 minutes. I NEVER would have done that before. This really is an entire lifestyle change, isn't it?

    Angela
  • Frouf, 30 minutes at 3.2 and 2% elevation is more than I do every day! You should be proud of this for your exercise. I just raised myself this week to .5 elevation (not sure what percent it is) and 2.7 MPH. Considering my current "load", I'm still pretty happy with my progress.

Kierie, I don't know the answer to your question about the cheese. I think that the anwer is "maybe". If it doesn't say lowfat in the title then I think it is not.

Janette, it is always good to hear from you and it's especially good to hear that all is going well. You are right about changing our habits. Angela, it really makes me laugh to hear that you went to walk on the treadmill, something I'm not sure I would do yet! It proves that if we are to be really successful, we have to do a complete lifestyle change.

Poor Kathy, you're at work again on the weekend?

Got my TOM this morning which NOW makes me VERY ok with Thursday's weigh in "stay the same"!

Snow coming to Chicago...again! Kinda sick of this.
  • Just checking in too.....so many posts so little time.....I'm with Wribben....however not from results of test (thank Goodness) just because I am so sick and tired of the neverending ongoing saga.....
I don't know what the ~!!~@# I am doing....lost two gained it back....lost one gained that back......I quit!!
Maybe Southbeach, Atkins something other that points,core.....ughhhhhhhhhh
You'd think 10 misealy pounds would just up and get the **** off my body, but nooooooooo..sorry for the venting but this is the only place I can come to do that.
Good going on all of you who have lost....
I know all the answers, honestly I do, I am just so sick and tired of this. I feel like gaining my 50 lbs back so it makes it easier to lose it again.
