Okay, so I have a question. I wear a pedometer every day, all day long. I usually average above 10,000 steps, maybe 7-8,000 if I don't do "real" exercise. Most times I don't log my steps in the Presidential Fitness site. But on days that I don't actually officially exercise, would it be wrong to put my steps in in place of my "real" exercise? It's not like I break a sweat or anything, it's just me going back and forth, living daily life. I've only entered pedometer steps twice, but I feel guilty. Should I? I don't want to count more points than anyone else, because I don't exercise more than anyone else. But if there's a place to put pedometer steps, I don't want them to go uncounted! Or should I quit obsessing and find something more useful to worry about?
Angela, I say COUNT THOSE BABIES! It will probably have you choose the intensity level. So choose light instead of moderate, since moderate would require breaking a sweat. I don't count all my steps but I count the periods of time that I am up constantly on my feet and moving constantly to clean/cook, etc.
I've been putting in my steps. I didn't at first, but then I thought what the heck! So today, I've got 3490 and even though I was wearing it since 9:00 this morning, it wasn't steady walking ... and logging those 3490 steps at PresChal gave me 20 minutes, which means I have to do another dedicated activity today to get up to 30. I'll probably do the Gazelle after we get back from dinner.
Angela, I'm with the others. Report your steps!! I put mine in every day and even though moving from point A to point B is not something we think of as exercise, it does contribute something, I think.
So I decided to look at our group progress today after I logged my activity. I noticed that no one has posted any activity in April! Can I challenge you all to play with me and record your activity? It's no fun alone.
Alrighty now, I just did 30 minutes on the Gazelle. Good grief, that thing has started squeaking like a hurt pig! Quite annoying! Anyway, it translated to 225.6 calories and 1.86 miles. I had to go slower at times while I was trying to figure out where the squeak was coming from -- never did!
I've been really bad about entering it lately. Of course, I've been really bad about exercising lately! I was so in to the DDR, and had a daily habit of dancing for 30 minutes during naptime. Then my stupid knee started hurting. I haven't found anything to replace it with that can be done with little ones and doesn't hurt me. Grr! Even my WATP tapes hurt.
But, I did get cast for a new pair of orthotics, and should get them in another week or two. They should help with walking-type stuff at least.
I forgot to mention, my podiatrist was impressed by the flatness of my feet. He also said I suffered from bunions (2 on each foot), and had "toe problems." My 2nd toe is way longer than all the others, and is on its way to becoming a hammertoe, which will probably at some point require surgery. Whee! Gee, thanks Dad, for passing on your feet to me. Oh well, at least I HAVE feet, right?
I was just getting lonely! Kathy, that's alot of gazelling....hope you're not sore in the morning. It takes me one and a half walks to burn that many calories.
Angela, I'm sure you'll be back to activity as soon as they fix your feet.
