I only say it's like a stairmaster because you can get resistance on there. I've had surgery on my knee and don't get impact pain at all on it.

Lower the resistance and build up is all

Hi Jenn, Just popping by to check on everyone. I'm eating terribly today so we won't even mention THAT!

I wanted to add that I also love the Precor elliptical machines. My knees are really bad also, Vickie, and I find that the Precor elliptical doesn't bother them at all ... it's much less stressful on my joints than using the treadmill. The stairmaster kills my knees but they aren't bothered at all by the Precor elliptical. It is so much better than the other ellipticals that have arms, IMHO.

Of course, the gym where I work out at has been closed since Hurricane Ivan swept through in mid-September. It's supposed to reopen in mid-February so it will be like starting all over for me with the ellipticals and everything else. I had worked my way up to 45 good minutes. The first time I ever used it I could only do 5 minutes ... what a workout for my flabby thighs! I can't wait to get back to it though ... it made the workout time go by so quickly. I encourage any of you who have access to the ellipticals to give them a shot. I think you'll enjoy them ... I really felt as though I was getting maximum workout value for my time. I'd love to buy one for my home but the Precor ellipticals are really expensive ... almost $4000 last time I checked.

And Vickie, lucky you to be retired! I've got 4 more years to go ... I'm a fed too with the Department of Justice. I could only wish for a buyout and I would go tomorrow! And how great that your husband got to retire with you!

Enjoy the rest of your Thursday everyone!

Deborah

Vickie - I am telling you, this is easier than walking up the stairs or the treadmill. I know you can't trust me yet, lol, but "trust" me

But yes, losing it earlier is smarter I guess. But kudos to ANYone of ANY age to lose at all because it's HARD!
