The hospital visit went ok, they didn't really tell us much, except what prep dh has to do before the surgery, and then he had to register w/the hospital and they did a couple of tests. He's pretty sick of having blood drawn, and he has many more months of this. But when I got home PMS kicked in big time, I was tired, cranky and wanting a big bowl of carbs. I have to confess to caving, I actually drove to the store to get chips. I figured if I didn't buy any I'd be ok, but no such luck. Oh well, I'll move forward from here. (I seem to say that a lot). On a good totally unrelated note, the yarn store called about the class I wanted that was full, they've added a second one so now I can sign up.
Coco - If you find us on your loss and finding a solution to the meds.
Rhonda - I find all exercise done right has that effect. Yea on getting it done, I have been slacking in that dept.
Sandra - some days are more fun than others.
Paula - Yea on getting the flower beds done. Want to come do mine? They look really sad this year.
Tracie - how was the casserole? I'm trying to get in more whole grains, so far so-so.
Vicki and Maryanne - Hope you got some naps in and are less tired.
Well, I've gotta get moving. I'm meeting my parents at the park today, we had to postpone a day because of the dr's apt and dad golfs today so they want to go earlier than normal. And right now it's only 46 degrees out. I'm not sure I'm ready for fall even if it is my favorite season.
Good Morning Chicks! I hope you are all doing well on program and/or climbing back on the wagon. I'm doing pretty good.
I'm off to eat breakfast and plan dinner for today and Friday. Planning ahead is all that saves me. I did cook yesterday and I'm quite proud of myself.
I got up at 8AM and do I feel refreshed and raring to go. Last night I thought I was going to cheat and eat everything in sight that wasn't nailed down. I get that way when I tired, but what saved me is that I keep prepared veggies that I had in the refrig, just for those time when I'm feeling out of control.
Sandra-I love that time off,and we did enjoy it but now its back to reality. The house work is still there and need tending.
Tracie-Its might be recipezaar but these are WW core recipes for dips that was giving to us on another message board. The main Core recipe are in this part.
Donna-those needles that they draw blood from or chemo treatments are not good thats in Leo case. They can't find this veins in this arms anymore so he going to have a port installed in his chest or arm until treatment is done.Hope you DH is luckier and not have to deal with this. I was in your state looking for all types of snaky carbs but munched on crunchy veggie instead. Sending your some I'm Ok this morning as I posted above.
Vickie-Enjoy your breakfast,I doing good staying on OP as tomorrows is my WI day and I'm a little nerve getting on the scale.
Those $%^#* carbs!!! When combined with stress, fatigue and worry, they'll get us everytime!
Think positive! I bet we are all a little bit better off than we were before we found this board!
Have a good Core day everyone. I'm staying home and doing more wallpapering and painting. The university is unlikely to fall apart without me there today!
Hey chickies! I posted last night, but I don't see it. Oh well!
Sandra-the doc did not think dh had any autoimmune illnesses, but he did some blood work and gave him a short course of prednisone as a sort of test to see how he does. Thanks for asking about him!
Tech-did you see my note about the "ostomy society"? Let me know if you need some info. I know you and dh will be glad when all this is over. I'll be praying for both of you. I understand about the PMS. I really get the munchies, too!
Rhonda-have a great day, and don't work too hard!
Maryann-glad you got some rest! Hope you and Leo have a great day!
Vickie
Tracie-I've made that recipe before, but not as a ww recipe. It was delicious. I'm glad to know there is a way to make it core. I'm going to make it very soon.
Paula-I wonder if you could use the sticky chicken recipe for the crock pot? You may want to cook it for a while without the preserves then add them close to the end of the cooking time.
I'm glad Coco's back to losing. Maybe I'll join her?
Donna, it's 40ish here today, too.
We've driven in rain all day but are now in Billings. We'll get to see our newborn (and our first) great grandchild tonight. Tomorrow we head on to Texas.
Maryann, I'm glad you're rejuvenated and back to business. You sound refreshed.
Vickie, let's make some sticky chicken soon. What do you say?
Rhonda, I hear we're getting lots of Ikey rain in Texas already You're right. We have our ups and downs but our ups (or should I say weight downs) days are getting more numerous.
Sloan, I hope Dh gets better now that he has the meds. I'd like to find out about crock potting the sticky chicken, too.
Sandra-I have not made the sticky chicken in the crock pot. I was just making a suggestion. I think the preserves would be more "sticky" if they were put on toward the end of the cooking time. I think it is awesome that you have a great grandchild! How exciting!
Hello chickies! I wi tonight and my gain was not as bad as I thought. I still gained 4.2 pounds, but that's not so bad for 3 weeks of celebration of food and drink. I was actually happy to hear it was only 4.2. So I have changed my ticker. I was only one pound from losing 40 pounds, now I am 5.2 pounds away. Oh well, if I work hard enough, I can get that off in a few weeks. It took me 3 weeks to put on, so if it takes me 2-3 weeks to get off, that's a fair trade off
Donna, the go for the grains casserole was ok, but kind of bland for me. So tonight, I made burritos w/lean ground beef & those high fiber 1 point burrito/tortilla wrap things, and added some of the casserole when I rolled up my burrito. It was pretty good and made the burrito more filling. I think when I make it next time, I would add some more seasonings, chili powder or something like that to make it like mexican rice. I mean, it has black beans and veggies in it. I actually think it would be a great mexican flavored dish if you seasoned it up a bit. Maybe even add some tomato sauce or tomatos. Mmm, that sounds good. The rest of the casserole that I have leftover, I will be adding it to things, or adding something to the casserole. I am bringing some taco meat and a 1 pt burger bun & ff cheese w/lettuce to have a taco burger for lunch. I think I'll mix in some of the casserole with the taco meat. The casserole is very filling. All those grains, it has to be.
Rhonda, I used to have this awesome Jazzersize video and I loved it. Half of it was aerobic and have you were on the floor doing legs, arms & abs. I wish I still had it because I could at least do the floor part of it. I used to also do Tao Bo, which I really enjoyed. I still have those, but I know I can't do those anymore.
I'm picking window treatments this morning but I wanted to say good morning.
I also want to take a moment to ask everyone to remember all those lost seven years ago today on 09/11. I was in downtown Chicago and it was the most frightening day of my life.
Thank you, Vickie for starting the day with a memory of those killed, hurt or left alone seven years ago today.
I remember being told that a plane had hit the tower and I thought it was a student off course in a light plane. Never have I been so wrong with an assumption.
I'm so upset at my W-I this morning as I gained 1.6 lbs with all the planning that I done[having 19 WPA left] during the week the scale should have been the other direction.
The only thing I can think of is having 1 c lite Progresso [0pt]veggie barley soup last night for supper. The amount of sodium in that soup was for 1 c 740. grams.
Sorry for Whining
Well come back an post when I'm in a better state of mind.
Oh I know too well that dreadful day 9/11/01.We were on vacation at Bar Harbor, when we heard that terrible news. We cut our vacation off,as we found a good friend of the family was killed[Fireman] trying to safe the others people in those towers.
The sad lost feeling never leaves, especially when the day comes around again & again & again.
================================================
Back to my meeting this morning, there was a topic all about portion control with measuring & weighing foods before we have them.My leader told me even if I'm following the Core, maybe I should go back to measuring especially the grain carbs like rice couscous, pasta & others.
So I'm going to measure out 1/2 of cup grains this week as see what happens. I'm also going to watch my sodium intake.
RHONDA-I think carbs are the problem with any middle aged woman, some more than others, and I did find that out this morning. This week I going to use a ice cream scoop to measure out my carbs. Hope your right I do want to succeed on this Core Plan.
SLOAN-Thanks,we did have a good day.
TRACIE-Oh sorry about your gain, I wish I had a good attitude like you have toward gains, but I don't. Have to think possible like Rhonda put in her previous post.
VICKIE-Have fun picking out window treatments. Thanks for starting a memory of our men & woman that fell on that dreadful day,and for the families & friends of them Dear Lord we pray.
Hi chickies! I also remembered this morning that this happened years ago. I was at work and we were all huddled around the television in our conference room watching when the plane crashed into the twin towers. Such an awful day. It sure doesn't seem like it was 7 years ago.
Mary Ann, don't be upset. Just remember this is a lifestyle change and the weight will come off. It just might take awhile. You will have some gains along the way, but in the long run, your overall weight will go down if you follow the plan.
We finally recieved documentation to prove my father was in the army, so we can finally file a claim for benefits for him. We are paying outrageous money for his assisted living center and now can get some help from the VA. We went to see our fathers lawyer (he specializes in elder law) and found out he will get 18,654 per year to help pay for his assisted living. We are so excited as we were worried that we would have to move him to a nursing home before he would really be ready to go, because his money would run out. But now, we know he will be able to stay in assisted living as long as he is able to. I don't want to put him in a nursing home until he absolutely has to go and with the VA money, he won't have to go until he is absolutely ready. So that's one big relief off my mind.
But the application is huge, so I will be going to visit my dad, and meeting my brother there so we can start filling in the blanks. If we get it filed this month, even if it takes them 3-4 months to process(or longer) it will be retroactive from the month we file it. So got to go and get this done.
