New pages for a new week!

beach bum 09-08-2008 09:38 AM

Good Morning Ladies:)

WoW!! What a beautiful day we're having after that awful hurricane this weekend.

We stayed home and watched the golf tournament, all weekend long.
Nothing new, still trying to limit my points to have a better weight loss than I had last week. I only used 9 so far counting today. Eating lots of veggies for snacks this weekend, like grape tomatoes, raw green & wax bean, baby carrot & baby zucchini.Hope that will do the trick.

PAULA-Thanks for starting us up this week.

Sloan-We enjoyed the golf tournament even if our guy didn't win.Never hear of diet coke Sloppy Joes. I remember using diet soda for dessert like cakes, but never in a meal. Have to find that recipe.

Tracie--Sorry about you gain, that the one thing that I didn't like about cruising or any vacation, all that food and than the after effects of gaining. You'll lose it again once you back to the Core Plan.Glad you had a great time, even though you had to witness a fight. Thanks I sure he'll have the injection before his treatment,at least that what I understood from the doctor.

Sandra-Sending you some [[[[[stress:stress:free vibes]]]]]] you you can back to eating the hard core way.

Have a great morning, will come back later

Hugs :)

Good morning everyone. What a busy weekend. DD had an "awesome" first day at school on Friday. She was a bit nervous today to go, but once we were waiting for the bus she was fine. Gymnastics started on Saturday am - it was a long hour! I need to plan on doing some errands at that time. The waiting area was very crowded and loud. I tried to read but could not concentrate - there was the K class, a preschool class and a group of older girls all having different sessions. It also being the first class, there were quiet a few parents standing around the windows watching. I guess I'm an old hat at this - being her 3rd year, been there, done that!

Hanna was a bust for us - about an inch or so of rain and wind ( I guess). It came through during the night.By Sunday am it was bright and sunny. There are a lot of leaves down, but not much else. We were lucky. Yesterday was dh's birthday - started with breakfast out and then ended with dinner out and cake and ice cream. Needless to say - today is a new day, plus TOM is looming. The scale is evil!

Sammi - congrats on the loss!

Vickie - good luck with the tests tomorrow. I do know what you mean about looking us information on the web. Without a Dr to explain what your looking at and how it relates to you, there is just way too much confusing, scary information out there.

Sandra - hope you trip home was safe. The one positive thing to say about family being spread all over -- its so easy with the web, email, digital photos and videos to stay in touch. It doesn't replace the face to face contact but you can know whats happening. HTH.

Sloan - contrats on your loss too!! Great job. Thanks for the idea of the sloppy joes on a potato. Never thought of doing that. DH and DD love the diet coke sloppy joes, and when I make then I usually have a roll and count the points. NO MORE! Oh, and top the potato with ff cheese prior to putting the meat on top.......

Coco - welcomoe back!!

Rachel - congrats on your 3 pd loss! Was that in one week! Great job.

Tracie - welcome back from vacation. Your time away sounds wonderful. Don't worry about the 9 pds, just get back on plan. I gained 5 pds from only 1 week!!! So 9 in 3 weeks is too bad.

Well, got to run. BBL

Tejas 09-08-2008 10:19 AM

Morning all:

I'm going to start a weekly challenge. Join me if you can.

Rhonda

ps: Tracie, I hope you didn't read my comments as personal about your comments. I should have said it was the politicians (one in particular) who really aggravated me. But, it's also just citizens who so readily agree with what are really propoganda statements. Last year I met someone who, as soon as he learned I lived in Canada, began a total diatribe against the "socialist" Canada...blah, blah, blah...He was not the only one, just one example. Anyway, enough from me about all of this (at least for this post )

Tejas 09-08-2008 10:27 AM

Cheryl and Sandra just posted on last week's board: FYI

.... I know ... oops :o

sloanie 09-08-2008 01:22 PM

Hey chicks! How's everyone doing? I'm starting the challenge today. Thanks for starting it Rhonda.

Maryann-the diet coke sloppy joes recipe is on the board, just search it in the recipes. It is sooooo yummy!!!!!!

Tracie-glad you're back! I've been missin' ya. I'm glad you had a great time. Too bad you don't live nearby, you could join our choir!!

Vickie-I'll be praying for your tests. Try not to worry!

Paula-glad to hear that the hurricane was a "bust". Sounds like dd had a nice b'day. Glad kindergarten went well.

Sandra-Hang in there, we're rootin' for ya.

Hope the rest of you are doing well. Come on and join in the challenge for this week, the more the merrier!! TTFN

Hello All,

Wow busy thread over the weekend. We had a nice weekend. Saturday we were going to go for a ride, but dh wasn't feeling well so we didn't. I just lazed around watching tv. Yesterday we went out for lunch and then over to the Village for the annual "Old Car Festival" It is the longest running festival of it's kind in the country and the newest cars there are from 1931  We met up with DH's aunt and uncle who show their "T" there, they said Sat. was a zoo but had a lot more cars on display. I think the rain Sun morning scared away those who put their cars away/home for the night. It was still nice, we just casually strolled around. I'm not talking about the food for the day though it was not good, but I'm back on track today :D, I'll head over and join the challenge thread when I'm done here.

Hope I can still get in a bike ride this evening after dh gets home. I need to get dinner started first, I'm trying a new recipe and it has a lot of steps :^: Tomorrow I'm going w/dh to the hospital for his pre-surgery apt. He'll be out of town next week and the surgery is the week after. Hopefully I'll know better what the couple of months will entail, the biggest thing I'm worried about is that whole "illeostomy" bag he'll have for 6 weeks, and what he can/can't eat......the pamphlet they gave us was interesting to say the least, we'll see I guess.

Rhonda - I see that Coco's post touched a nerve. I personally always laugh about the people here who oppose health care reform but then will go to Canada for drugs. "Uh why do you think their drugs are cheaper?????"

Coco - Great to hear from you I was thinking about you the other day. Please come back, like other's said we're all struggling.

Sandra - Have a safe trip home.

Vicki - Hope you figure this out soon.

Maryanne - Hope Leo's blood count is back to normal. You are definitely strong even if it's only because you have too. Glad you didn't get too bad of weather from Hanna.

Paula - Glad Hanna was a bust for you to. Just hop back on the wagon, I'm hanging on by my fingernails.

Sloan - Congrats on your loss. I actually walked out of my WW meeting in the middle on Fri. I've never done that before, but we had a sub and she was starting to really annoy me, so I decided to just leave. If you can do it on your own with us, more power to you. I can't, I need to have someone to report to every week even if they don't inspire me.

Traci - glad you had a good vacation. I'm supposed to head up north camping myself next weekend, :crossed: the weather cooperates.

 to all I missed.

Have a great day everyone.

Donna,
Contact the local Ostomy society for some support. It is made up of people who have ostomies and volunteer to help people with new ones. They will even come to the hospital and visit you and dh. I hope there is a group in your area. If you can't find one, ask your doc or call the local cancer society office as they may know how to find someone.

beach bum 09-08-2008 04:54 PM

Hi :)

Just got my walking done for about 20mins. tonight I do another 20 while watching tv.

Paula-Glad you DD is adjusting to school,it can be every nerve racking sometime especially for the moms. My DD has her last boy going to KG now and she taking advantage to get shopping & errands done also. Now is going to sign up for the gym,and get some exercising done while the children are in school.

RHONDA-Have to look for that challenge you ladies are talking about.I'm alway up for a challenge.

SLOAN-Thanks I going to the recipe thread once I post here. It sounds interesting as I never cooked with diet or reg soda.

DONNA-Thanks,I hope so also, but just in case he will get the injection,so the treatment can continue.Glad that you havd a wonderful Sunday look at antique cars. My DH friend has an old 1956 Chevy Impala. He goes to shows in Fla where he lives. So I'm so sorry about your DH,not being around this week before surgery. I don't know too much about your case so I won't be able to help you,but Sloan gave you good advice to look up a support group around where you live.

Hugs :)

Oops, me, too. Thanks for pointing folks to me, Rhonda. Thank you also for starting the challenge thread. I hope that fussy person you mentioned isn't Curtis. I know he can get on rampages about things. Seems I follow him around trying to rebuild bridges. Oh, well, I love my grumpy old guy.

Eatingwise, I'm doing great today. I'm so ready to be in control of my eating. Life's too short to be feeling stuffed all the time.

Paula, thank you for the new pages here. Our youngest granddaughter began kindergarten last week and is loving it. I'm sure your dd is, too. Don't you love the enthusiasm?

Maryann, thank you for the anti-stress vibes. I need them.

Donna, I'll start back :ebike: when we get home. Till then I'll be taking daily walks.

Tejas 09-08-2008 05:53 PM

I've had a great Core day today...hope you all have. I didn't even have too many weak moments.

Donna, I read about that car show in the Toronto paper. Sounds like a lot of fun. Enjoy your bike riding.

Nah, it wasn't your Sweet grumpy guy, Sandra. it was some guy in the neighborhood that DH and I want to move into when we go back to Texas. I decided right then and there that I'll have an open house when we move and I'll hand out literature about Canada  (That will make a lot of friends, I bet!)

Rhonda

ontarget 09-08-2008 06:23 PM

Whew! Rhonda. I am so glad it's not my grumpy old man. I think the brochures are a good idea. You go, girl.

I'm doing well eatingwise today. We are meeting family for dinner in about an hour. This will probably be the last time we see our grands this trip. I'm going to focus on the visit more than the food. Wish me success.

Vickie 09-08-2008 08:47 PM

I gained .4. I'll adjust my tracker tomorrow. That's the way it goes. I'll have a nice loss next week.

You all are doing well. Keep up the good work.

ontarget 09-08-2008 09:53 PM

You'll have that off in no time at all. Vickie, I love your attitude and determination.
