I think I've done a good job of getting back on track. I don't know why but earlier this week all I have wanted to do was eat junk food, and I did. I'm going away for the weekend so I'm hoping not to be too bad. The hotel has a fitness room though and there are a bunch of cute shops in the area and everyone walks everywhere I'm going to weigh in tomorrow before I head out and hope I didn't do as bad as I think I did.
Hooray for me! I finally have internet at home again. I agree, Sandra and Rhonda, it is much harder to lose those pounds now. My friend told me that she had read about how important weight lifting is for women over 50. Guess I'd better dig out those weights and get busy!
Sammi, I hope you have a good wi. Have fun this weekend.
Sloan, weights? Hmmmmmmmm......maybe I'll get some out when we get home.
It's hard to believe we're still on vacation. Living in the condo is just that. If we don't go outside, we can't tell where we really are. Just looked outside. We're still in Montana.
Yep, weight are very important...keep the joints more stable so that you are less likely to break a bone.
I've painted the bathroom, and I've been wallpapering the hallway. I've never done that before: it's not so hard. And, it looks great. It's the kind that you paint and it helps to cover up messed up walls. I have more of those than I like.
I'm snacking more than I should tonight, but at least I'm journaling and keeping up with the pts. Our oldest granddaughter is spending the night. We're having a good visit.
HAPPY LABOR DAY WEEKEND BE CARE WITH ALL THE FOODS & DRINKS THAT ARE GOING TO BE SERVED
Nothing new at my end, but since Thursday's W-I I changed my eating to more or less the low carb way of having 1 -2 grain carbs per day and last night while watching tv I snacked on all kinds of veggies. Feel so much healthier this Morn.
I saw something on another WW site that I thought would interest you.Washing cooked ground meat with hot water than put into a colander to drain than add the remaining ingredient to a recipe. They say that eliminates the extra fat from the meat.Does any one done it that way,and found that it works.
Rhonda-Big congrats on your 1 lb loss, boy do I know how hard it is to lose.
Sloan-Oh that awful that you can't get off this plateau, wish I could help you but I hanging on that same plank. The only thing is what your doing. LOW CARBS I'm trying to head down that road also, like I mentioned above.
Sandra-Thanks, the other boards that I go to don't have the core information that I'm looking for. They're more or less a social flex type of boards. Reminds me of my WW meeting[about 40 members] only a few on the core all the rest on the flex plan. We had the comfort zone topic and only core people could relate.
Sammie-Can't believe that we're celebrating the Labor Day and summer is going to be over.Have a wonderful weekend have fun and enjoy.
Happy Saturday everyone. Maryann, I'm with you on not believing summer is over!! Wow, that was fast.... I've read the thing about washing cooked ground beef. I've never done it, but I use extra lean or ground turkey in most recipes and just drain off the excess fat. Let me know if you try it.
I have 2 cook out challenges this weekend - on on Sunday and one on Monday. I think I'll be OK food wise but maybe not drinking. I'm going to be hard core for all non cook out times this weekend. My weight is still up from vacation and I don't want more added on top of that. I did get an email from the woman at work who is coordinating the at work sessions. Orginally we were not going to start until the 24th, but I think its going to be sooner. I hope it is. With all the stuff with my Dad this summer, its really put my eating into a bad place. I just can't seem to stick to plan -- I can get back on track for a while, but then stray miserably. I think I really need the meetings. I looked back on my last book -- I was doing well until my dad went into the hospital - during those weeks I was up and down a pound or so. But after he passed I've just gained. Its time to get back to focusing on my health.
Well, off to clean the house and do laundry. Then its grocery shopping then this afternoon I need to take dd to get ballet and tap shoes. Her gymnastics start a week from today and dance the following Wed.
Oh boy, do I ever know that I have muscles! They ALL hurt after yesterday's wallpapering! I'm taking today to do other things and not tax those muscles anymore for a while.
We don't have many social plans this weekend, so there won't be too many temptations about food. I'm making a crock pot sirloin roast, and I'm looking forward to having that for supper.
Good luck to those of you who will have a tougher food weekend!
Hello everyone!
Well, my first week on core hasn't exactly gone well. By Wednesday I was all out of points--long story, went over the edge---so I have been TRYING to have core-only for the rest of the week. I am close but not 100%.
I decided I would at least try to be good for the rest of the week and start over tomorrow (weigh-in). Hopefully this week I can stay on program the whole time. It' s a little harder than I thought it would be, but I am not giving up.
Today it's raining all day. I planned on doing yardwork but the way things are going I'm not sure I will be able to get outside. Also keeping my eye on the tropics---barely survived Fay (got water in one room of the house) and now there are 2 more headed our way.
I am so jealous of all of you who are turning off the AC and enjoying "cooler" weather. We are still in the 90's and soooo humid you can drink the air (almost).
Good afternoon chicks! I've had a busy day. Cleaned and scrubbed the laundry room-ewwww! It looks really good now; I even made and put up a new curtain. I think Rhonda inspired me!!!
Rachel-don't give up. It takes a while to get your head around core. Look for some recipes that sound good to you and try them! Also, have some planned treats. WW has a great fudge ice cream bar for one point.
Rhonda-I think an HGTV show for decorating/core sounds good. Maybe you should pitch the idea to them.
Paula-Hang in there. Have you ever tried having 1/2 glass of wine with sugar free sprite? It tastes like a spritzer, and you could have twice as many drinks if you mix with something.
Maryann-Thanks for the willpower dust. We have GOT to hang in there. I know the weight has to come off eventually!
Sandra-Good job on tracking those snacks. Keeping up with it will surely help.
I'm sitting on the porch to use the computer because the connection is better out here. I'm about to melt, so I've got to go inside. It is so humid here I feel like I've been in the shower!! TTFN
Rachel, I went over the edge today as well. Tomorrow's a new day. We can do this.
Rhonda, so you're not going to be a professional wall paperer. (Is that the word?) I had someone call me years ago to see if I did wallpapering. I told them they had the wrong Sandra. I'd be like hiring Lucy.
Maryann, I've belonged to boards that lost that "weightloss" feeling. Sad, isn't it?
Sloan, I've taken a huge step backwards today--but that's life. I'll just dust off and start over. Sounds like you and Rhonda earned a lot of activity points the last couple of days.
HAVE A WONDERFUL LABOR DAY WEEKEND, EVERYONE!!!!!!
Hey all! I've been MIA but still working hard here. I'm up in the middle of the night again. Sheesh. I haven't even been to bed yet. I was going to go weigh in at a 9:00 meeting tomorrow but that's not going to happen now. I guess I'll go on Tuesday.
I had a horrendous cold, the worst of my 52 years, in May that lasted for about 4-5 weeks. Every since, at night I get this weird smokey smell in my nose athat makes it hard to sleep. I don't think it's all in my head. Jim can't smell it and no one ever smokes around me. It may be time to go to the ENT. Harumpf.
Hope you chicks are doing well. I'm hanging on by the skin of my teeth which is a shame since it's only week 2. I had a couple of challenges.....a buffet and a birthday party tonight. I brought the KFC core coleslaw to share and some grilled chicken while everyone else ate BBQ beans and BBQ meats. Oh well! It was only food. I didn't do as well at the buffet. I'll just start from here to being good again.
Besides......who wants to eat with a smokey smell in their nose?
Vickie- ME TOO!!! No kidding, I can always tell that I'm about to have a sinus "flare up" when I start smelling cigarette smoke. No one smokes in my house, but I smell it! You're the first person I have heard of that has the same phenomenon happen to them! What's up with that? Don't give up on core. You know the challenges are always hard, and sometimes we don't fare so well. Just keep going. The only failure is when we give up! I'm so sorry about your insomnia. It seems harder for me to stay op when I'm tired. Maybe you should talk to your doc about your sleep issues. I have read that people who get a good night's sleep, have better weight loss results, and I know that DH's doc is always focused on sleep when he is having health problems. Don't forget we are all pulling for you!!! TTFN
Started my colon cleansing this morning[posted to Sandra about my detoxing] have to take it for 1 month. Its a high fiber formula[that cleans the colon walls from sticky goo etc] that comes in crystal form that you mixed into juice or water or a soft food[yogurt, smoothies of applesauce] and I have to take 2x a day for 10days than 3x for another 10 days and the last 10 day I'm back to 2x a day.
I have to find out why I'm not losing when follow the core to a tee.Even if I went over board with the grain carbs I should lose some thing in 10 weeks of being on the core. Thats the reason I chose colon cleansing. Will let you know hows it working.
PAULA-I used ground turkey also, but its interesting that people do wash their meats.I never thought about that, doesn't take make the meat watery. I used the same method as you do drain the ground turkey after its cooked and than add the other ingredients.
RHONDA-We have no company either, but Leo wants to end the summer BBQs by having ribs so I having 2 which will have me spending 4 pts on my WPA's. Tomorrow I'll go back to eating CORE.
RACHEL-Glad your not giving up,its a struggle for the rest of us also with the BBQ and summer evens,Now that its coming to a end we will be mindful of the the Big T holiday thats around the corner that the others to follow. To me the core is the easiest way to follow WW, hate measuring and tracking. The only thing I have to measure is my grain carbs as there the ones giving me the most trouble. Oh so sorry of what Fay has done to you hope the other two hurricane don't bring any more stress. Now I can see the reason why you over ate your points.
SLOAN-Your right the weight has to come off, thats why I'm going to try and reduce my grain carbs this week.Bought a whole bunch of fresh veggies and i was nibbling on them last night while watching tv.They're not as bad as I thought they would be.
SANDRA-I agree with you it is sad to see some boards never talk or support the way our board does. Gee without you gals I would have quite all ago. Thanks for being there for me.
VICKIE-Smoky smell in your nostrils???Never heard of that. Where is this coming from,if it doesn't get better I suggest you visit with a doctor.
Well ladies, this morning the scale said the same as last Sunday, something I am grateful for! Today starts a new week and I am determined to do better!
We are going to try to have a cookout today (weather permitting) but I am well prepared--steaks, chicken, grilled corn on the cobb, grilled zuchinni and yellow squash, and portobello mushrooms. My Sis-in-Law is bringing rice but that is not a weak spot for me so I'll be fine. Mashed potatoes would be another story....
I'll probably have a drink or two and use some points for that, but with all my food items core I think I can do that.
AND--drumroll please---I went for a 2 mile walk this morning! I used to be able to jog the route, and it's my goal to work my way back up to running. Right now I am just proud of myself for getting out of the house and doing some activity.
Thanks to everyone for encouraging me not to give up! I just have to keep reminding myself how this program does work if you follow it to a T (at least the flex program did it)--I just have to find that willpower and inner vision again. It's coming. Besides if I don't do something soon none of my clothes will fit anyway! That should be motivation enough!
Sandra, I am back on the wagon---here, let me pull you up with me and we can put on the seatbelts this time!!
