Thanks for starting this thread, Patti. If it's all right with you I'll post my trek to Seattle here. Maybe posting here will keep me accountable (sp?) so I'll keep along.

I did 5 miles today. Planned to do 10 but stopped after 5. I'm doing a 5 minute mile.

I got as far as the Y where I-90 intersects with Hwy 93. Hwy 93 goes to Kalispell, Flathead Lake, and Glacier National Parks. Right now there are fires burning along 93. It has been closed several times due to fire lately. A lot of people from that area had been evacuated but I think they're back home now.

OK,

I didn't quite get in 1 mile, I thought it was a mile around my block but turns out its about 3/4 mile. I'll walk farther tomorrow to make up.

Day 1 - 8/22 - 3/4 mile
Day 2 - 8/23 - 2 miles (at work wasn't going to count this.....)
Day 3 - 8/24 - 2 miles (at work again, didn't have patti's determination)

I haven't decided where I'm walking to yet.

Day 1: 4.5 miles (August 22)
Day 2: 3 miles
Day 3: 6.5 miles
Day 4: 2.5 miles
Day 5: 3 miles
Day 6: 4 miles
Day 7: 5.5 miles
Day 8: 4 miles
Day 9: 3 miles
Day 10: 2.5 miles
Days 11-12 2 miles each day...a little slow!

Last night I biked 5 more miles. I am now at Frenchtown, MT. This is where our 2 granddaughters up here go to school. It's a small town along I-90. At one time it was thought that Frenchtown would be the hub of the area. The railroad came through and changed things causing Missoula to be the hub.

I can't remember if I told ya'll the reason I'm biking instead of walking. It's cause of my poor tootsies. I can't always depend on being able to treadmill. So far so good biking!!

I think I'm going to head out and see how far the walk to CVS is. My sinuses are really bugging me.

Donna, I hope your sinuses are better. What did you take for them?

I did 2 more miles last night. Just checked the "Interstate Authority." I'm now just west of Huson, MT. The weather couldn't be better. The temp is 71* right now and the sun is shining.

I hope to do at least 8 miles today to make up for just going 2 yesterday. I was wiped out yesterday but feel more energized today.

I did 2 more miles today. I'm at mile marker 82 on I-90. This is the exit for the Nine Mile Ranger Station. Pack mules are kept here for firefighting. Here's a photo:There's a museum here at the Nine Mile Ranger Station that's all about the early days of rangering and mule packing in the back country. My mother-in-law used to live out Nine Mile Road near this station.

Tomorrow I hope to on to Alberton, MT.

5 more miles today got me to mile marker 77. Alberton, MT. Home of Montana Valley Bookstore.
. The sign along I-90 says:
but there actually over 150,000 used books. I just read that many of the books here were picked up by the owner's father while he was biking around the British Isles years and years ago. Lots of rare books here.
