Default January Exercise Thread Part 2

Welcome!

It's a New Year -- Time to MOVE!! In this forum, we're setting the number of MINUTES we want to exercise for the month -- whether it's walking or swimming or housework!

We're also tracking how many minutes we have exercised as a group!

Please add your minutes (for yourself and the group) and get some support and accountability!

If you want to join us during the month -- GREAT! Just let us know how many minutes you want to exercise in what's left of the month!

Let's see, we were at 1534 minutes (! WOW!) and I can add 35. So:

300+ exer-total = 1534 + 35 = 1569 minutes

Elmay, this is really helping to motivate me too. I'm behind for the month because of a truly nutty week and am truly motivated to try to catch up!

Hey, Wyllenn, that was sneaky! I was posting on the previous thread and suddenly it said STOP! So here I am....

You're right, Elmay - the accountability is great. I talked to you guys a lot of the time I was walking tonight. I even did some running walk and jogging sprints. Got in a new personal best of 2.5 miles and 52 minutes. I can hardly wait until tomorrow!
1534 + 52 = 1586

Val -- You're walking a lot when you get the chance! Way to go! Glad your doc didn't give a thumbs down to the exercise -- I hope you're feeling better!

I have been nearly missing for the past week. I had a HUGE thing to get done for work (my tenure application!!!), plus two classes to prep. I may have mentioned that I literally had to work WHILE I walked during 2 workouts. Needless to say, those workouts weren't really strenuous. Today was the first time in a week I was really able to push myself. Felt good, too.

I can't believe we've put in over 26 HOURS so far. Didn't we say we were shooting for 100 hours (6000 minutes). We're on track to make that!!! Way to go everyone!

I made it through another 20 minutes tonight - although maybe not as hard as I could have. That makes my personal total 145 and the group total is now:

1586 + 20 = 1606

Nancy -- I get the whole "didn't work as hard as I could" thing. Some days I am just lucky to DO it.

Sharon -- Hope you're feeling better now. Life does have a way of interfering, doesn't it??

Good job BOTH of you!!

Ok, I guess I will set a goal of 600 minutes for the rest of the month. I will adjust next month depending on how much I do this month. I went to the gym the other day and did 30 minutes on the ARC trainer. So 1636 + 30 = 1706

I did my 3rd strength training session of the week (my gosh, it's hard...) and 50 minutes on the stairmill for a total of 100 minutes.

So 1706 + 100 = 1806

Mark me down for another 30.... minutes, unfortunately, not pounds lost. I did my work out, and it started out o.k., but by the second time thru I was starting to feel my side pulling, so I pretty well wimped out on the upper body stuff on the second lap. I still finished, tho. The killer corset/bra I wore to help my ribs was digging into every roll it could find, and of course it didn't have to look far! That was absolutely miserable! I won't wear that monster again!!
1806 + 30 = 1836 for the group total so far!

Wyllenn - It's so true. Sometimes it doesn't matter how well you did something, just that you did. Every time I exercise, even if I don't feel like it is another time I am building a great habit of getting and keeping myself strong and fit.

Tonight I made it through a tape that lasted 45 minutes - part aerobics and part toning. The toning part was tough, but it was strange - I could remember when I had the capacity to do those exercises and it doesn't seem so far away. It will just take a bit of work and I can be back there and beyond. So my personal total is 145 + 45 = 190, and the group total is:

1861 + 45 = 1906

Hey all -- we are doing great as a whole! Me personally, not so much. We have company this weekend, and I'm not getting the exercise in!! And yesterday and today are likely to be eat out days. grrrr.

1906 minutes!! I expect to get home tonight and see us at 2K (1/3 of the way to our goal of 6k!). Hopefully I'll get enough walking done to count some as exercise myself, cause my goal is getting harder to reach!

BTW, I've been asked by the moderator to keep the exercise thread to one thread a month, rather than breaking it up. I know Barb had asked to change it, but I think that the moderator gave me a possible solution for your dial-up problem (one of the reasons we went to multiple threads /month) -- PM me if you like! So, when the thread gets long, just keep adding this month.

Hmmm... nobody posted since me this morning... you're all out exercising, huh??

We took company to Chicago, and I got a nice walk in there afte all! Gonna call it 45 min, so...

300+ exer-total = 1906 + 45 = 1951 min

I did my strength training today, but was too pooped to do my aerobic workout -- I'll hit it tomorrow.

1951 + 50 = 2001
Woo hoo! Congrats all!

Default Farewell.... temporarily

Elmay, you never cease to amaze me with all the exercise you do! Wow!

I haven't gotten any done yet today - but it ain't over til it's over! I'll be hitting the road tomorrow, better equipped with my better quality walking shoes, new chicken grill, and a good attitude & resolve, but I won't be checking in much for the next couple (few?) weeks. If I can get online at all, this is the first place I'll come & update my exercise totals. I'm going to work really hard to make it this month!!! And don't let my new avatar fool you - it's still something a little "horsey".

May you all be blessed with strength, endurance, motivation and a skinny butt! Keep up the great work-outs!!
-val
