Good Morning! Its Monday! Time for motivation, right?

Here is a challenge! I have noticed there are not many posts on the exercise board. If we don't move, we won't lose! So...this week, get in three sessions of good exercise and post them on the board!

Are the creeping cheats beginning to take over? Make a plan for the next time a temptation is staring at you. Tell us your plan, and when you plan to use it. Then be honest about whether or not it worked. Sound good?

I am going to go fix a pot of coffee, then come back and post my plan...gotta think of one. That challenge was kind of spontaneous!

Motivation: Each and everyone one of you is a beautiful, precious creation of God. God doesn't make junk, so take care of his work of art, YOU! You are so worth it! You are worth being healthy. You are worth feeling good about yourself. You are worth being successful!

Happy Monday!

I think I may live. Still a little weak in the legs and arms, but feeling better. We'll see as the day goes on.

I figure I need to walk and move to get some strength. Don't you. Sitting around is not going to do it. We walked a mile last night.I brought up my 4 lb wts and will do some arm exercises while watching TV. Don't know what else to do, but need to get better. We leave for Germany in 3 weeks.

I am trying to get back on track with my eating. It is hard when everything tastes so bad.

BF Special K Low carb and some Fiber one
4 prunes
1/2 c milk.

Lunch will be a small ww tortilla with beans and cheese.

Dinner is chicken on the grill with some veggies.

My cupboard is bare and I need to get to the store badly. But won't be able to until tomorrow night.

Monet, liked your challenges. Thanks for starting the boards. Right now I don't know of any reason to cheat, but I'm sure as the week moves on, there will be one. I will come up with a plan when it does.

Fruit, great loss! Keep up the good work. You deserve a nice BD present.

Gator, I need some ideas on what to do in Paris. We may spend a day or 2 there.

Have a great day.

Good morning...

Hope everyone had a good start this morning. I sure have. DD asked for pancakes and that was what we had. It really feel me up and it will make the rest of my eating easier.

Yesterday decided to go to Six Flags right after they were opened. Jess was a little tired from the heat and humidity plus she was alone enjoying all the rides. 2 hours later, her friend came and she was alive again. Needless to say, Jess and her friend had a blast. We wanted to ride on the Thunder River but it started to rain and many of the rides were closed. What a waste but I understand why. So, we didn't get soaked like we thought we would but we did get wet from the rain. Jess was pooped at the end of the day and so were we. I am glad we went because it sure was a good experience for Jess. Oh, the good thing about going to Six Flags for me is I get a lot of exercise!! lol. Yesterday, I must have walked few miles in there. Woo Hoo! I also didn't eat well yesterday. I only had few bites of Jess's pizza and few pieces of french fries for the whole time we were there. I was so hungry by the time we came home in the evening. We stopped by at Publix to get our grocery and bought some chicken wings and sushi back for dinner. Oh, they were so good!!

I finally get our vacation planned in Sept. The winner is definitely Destin because of the 40% discount on one of the resort there. What a deal. I am so looking forward to the beach since that is Jess's fav place to be. Woo Hoo!!

Alright, here is my rough menu today :

Breakfast : 2 medium pancakes, 1.5 scrambled eggs with cheese. Water.

No snack

Lunch : Baked Salmon in Jamaican jerk marinade, pasta and green beans and onions.

Snack : Fruit salad in plain yogurt with a little Agave to sweeten.

Dinner : No idea at this moment.

MONET : Thanks for setting up the board today and the great challenge and motivation. I will commit to 3 days of exercise (whatever that might be) for this week. I don't know about cheats but if I have very strong cravings for something such as ice-cream, I will have a little. I stay with 1/2 cup but I add some sliced strawberries and walnuts over it. My bowl looks so satisfied although there was only tiny scoop of ice-cream there. I satisfy my cravings ocassionally especially when the cravings are very strong. I do not want to blow up and then eat like a pig. So, instead I eat a little portion and try to add something healthy and legal to it. So far so good!!

JACKIE-K : {{{hugs}}} You are a winner!!! You will not only survive but rise up like a queen!! Here's to feeling better everyday.

Good Morning:

I hope everyone had a good weekend. I was sick yesterday; still not sure if it was a cold or allergies. My eyes were all watery and itchy, my nose was running and I had a stuffed up head. I went to bed early and covered my eyes with a cold ice pillow and got a pretty good night's sleep. Today I feel pretty good.

We have been in our house 3 1/2 years, and have never had an ant problem...well, I can't say that anymore. Yesterday, we walked into our kitchen and there were ants all over the dog's food bowls, and all over the kitchen and gameroom floor. We sprayed them and I then vacuumed and cleaned everything up. With 2 dogs and 2 kids, you can't keep all the crumbs up 24/7. It seems like I am always running that darn vacuum cleaner. I am keeping a close eye out for them now to make sure they don't return. We also found a scorpion in our Greatroom a few nights ago. The bugman comes tomorrow, so I will have him put ant pellets around the perimeter of the outside of the house (where the dogs can't get to them), and hopefully that will take care of the problem.

My eating was pretty good over the weekend; not perfect, but good.

I plan to go to the gym later today after Lane takes her nap. We'll see if I continue to feel good.

Gator: I am glad you are starting to get your trees planted and your yard back together. It must be bittersweet. I also read an article recently in my Fitness RX for Women magazine that was talking about the positive impact of 10,000 plus steps per day. Great job on the 15,751; that's about the highest I've gotten so far. I'm still awaiting my ped; hopefully I'll get it in the next few days. The Bio Gymnema is something my doctor (homeopath) gave to me after we returned from our vacation. I told him I ate too much sugar when we were away and needed to detox. He gave me capsules, as well as a dropper. I plan to use the drops around the holidays when I know there will be a lot of temptations around. They make food taste like cardboard. The capsules, on the other hand, just help curb sugar cravings. They are all natural, and you could probably get them from your doctor. OR, you can do a search online for Gymnema and find a bunch of info. on it.

Country: So glad to hear your DM came out of surgery o.k. I hope you got some rest over the weekend.

Ken: I got the Slimsweet over the weekend. I only had to use 1/8 teaspoon to sweeten my glass of tea, and it was plenty sweet. I will have to figure out conversions to bake with it. Glad you were able to get to Six Flags; it sounds like you have a good time, overall. When we were at Busch Gardens in July, they had to close down a lot of the rides for a while during the day due to lightning. We just played other games while waiting, and then they re-opened them later. I am sure Jess slept good that night. Glad you got your vacation planned; that will be a lot of fun.

Fruit: Congrats on teh 5# loss; that's fantastic. You hear those camcorders add 10#s . What a great idea for a birthday gift. Enjoy it!

Monet: When will the surgeries be planned? Sounds like you had a fun night with your friend, and what a nice dinner. Those lingerie shows can be pretty "telling" can't they? I went to one once when I was in my early 20's and it scared the crap out of me . Way to get those steps in at the mall. I like the challenges this week. I am good about exercising, but lousy about posting it on the board. My computer is so darn slow that by the time I post my looong posts here, I don't usually go over to the exercise board. I'll make a point to do it this week though.

BOB: I've grilled salmon a lot, and really like it that way, but just like to shake it up from time to time. It sounds like Deb is having fun; she definately deserves it. I have been a little disappointed with Trader Joes too. They don't carry much in the way of oat or almond flour, etc... BUt, the things that I do get there are very reasonably priced, so I can't complain too much.

Fillise: Sounds like you are having a fantastic time in NY. Be careful and enjoy the rest of your trip.

Jack-K: Glad you are feeling somewhat better. I hope you are feeling 100% for your trip.

Well, I better go see why Lane is being so quiet.

Take care,
Nat

Jackie--Here's a good website for neat things to do in Paris:
http://www.virtualtourist.com/m/tt/2298c/#TL
The Rue Mouffetard that he mentions is a definite YES! The market is charming, and I did go on a Sunday and sang along with the French to the accordian music of Christian. Take a Bateau Mouche ride down the Seine. You can catch the boats at Pont Alma (Alma Bridge) and they leave all the time. The Eiffel Tower is fantastic with its views, but get there first thing (and I mean First Thing!!!) in the morning, or you will have a long wait in line. I hate lines, so I would not have gone if my school had not taken our group on what I ended up calling "forced marches." Another fine view, but a lot lower, is from the roof of the Arab World Institute building, right on the Seine.
My favorite place in Paris is the Musee d'Orsay (the Orsay museum) with its mind-boggling exhibit of room after room of impressionist paintings. All the famous ones are there. Again, there is always a line here, so late in the day (they close at 5) or be there when the doors open. If you are into museums, buy a museum pass that will get you past the lines. The Louvre is not my cup of tea. You'd need a week just to cover all the displays, and most of it was old paintings of people that I didn't know, and I was an art major. The Mona Lisa is there, but there were hundreds of people mobbed around it that it was a pain just to wade through the masses to get a glimpse.
There is a great pastry shop right off the République metro stop, on Rue Temple. It has the best croissants in town, and they are worth every bite, off plan. Just heavenly. I always got something with apples in it.
There is a street off the Rue Mouffetard which has some nice restaurants with excellent prices. For lunch, a definite YES! It's about 3/4 of the way up the street from the bottom of the hill (the street slopes upwards) and a little before you get to the small plaza with the Hagan Daaz store. BTW, on the way to that plaza, there is an artisinal ice cream shoppe on the right hand side that sells fabulous ice cream. When you order a cone they don't just glob a scoop on the cone, but shope the whole thing so that it resembles a beautiful rose. Again, a definite YES!
The Latin Quarter on the left bank has hundreds of tiny streets, quaint and charming. and very cheap eateries. Avoid eating at the places near the Rue de Huchette, a block off the main road running along the south side of the Seine, near Notre Dame. They call that area bacteria alley. Notre Dame is beautiful and you can get in and walk around without paying anything. Also, the Ile St. Louis, the other island in the Seine right next to Notre Dame (which is on the Ile de Cité) is very charming, although expensive. Let me know if you want more information. If you are arriving at Charles de Gaulle, you can take the Metro into the city.

Monet--Thanks for starting the board. You're our hero.

There's a great article in the USA Today (which you can read online--go to the "print edition"--about exercise and weight loss. Of course, they highly recommend exercise, and even talk about pedometers and the minimum of 10000 steps. They say that, on average, people walk about 5310 spd. So far I have 7200 and am going again for my 15000. I have my weight lifting this afternoon, so have a full day exercise-wise.
Here's some calorie counts for various popular activities--per hour for a 170 pound person:
Sleeping - 70
Watching TV - 75
Typing/ working at the computer - 140
Weight training - 230
Walking - 345
Aerobic dance - 460

If you have a favorite exercise and it's not listed, let me know and I'll see if it's on the list.

I spent $620 on the rest of our trees today. I bought 2 huge river birches and 2 nice sized bottle brush trees. Also got a small crepe myrtle to plant near where our neighbor cut down our perfectly good oak tree. I hope our tree man can plant them next week. The big live oak (about 25 feet tall) he will palnt in Feb.

Food today:
B. SB pancakes with SF syrup and 1 peach. Iced tea
L. 4 oz. lean beef hamburger on 1 sl. SGWW bread with lettuce, onion, tomato, mustard and catsup. 1 slice honeydew melon. I also had on my menu 1/2 cup black beans (for the fiber) but was too full to eat that. Maybe for snack.

I was gonna paint our new gate in front of our garbage can area, but it looks like rain, so may not get to finish that job. It has rained so much and so hard here that I've had to wait for 2 or 3 dry days so the wood will be dry.

Pancho, I think I'll ask my holistic doctor about that stuff next time I go. She may have some in her office. Thanks for the info.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Well, it's 4:30 and I'm still hanging in there.

After dinner I plan to take a walk, probably only a mile or so but better than nothing. I did a few curls at lunch.

Ken, I love Destin. There is a retaurant there called Light House, it's in a shopping center, you can buy one get one free on dinners. CHeck it out. Good idea on the craving thing. I have trouble eating 1/2 cup of any kind of ice cream.

Nat, once a year we get ants. They get in the dishwasher and around the sink. No matter what I do, they are there about a week. So annoying. Hope it was just allergies that got you down yesterday.

Gator, thanks for the info, I will PM you for more. That is a lot of money to have to spend on trees. It takes so long for them to grow and provide shade. It is such a shame to lose to much.

Have a great evening.

Just popping in to say howdy. I'm still struggling with SB and sometimes just want to quit coming to the board. But I'm really trying to stay here. So excuse the short writings. Right now its the best I can do. Busy with housework today and then stopped to visit and old friend that just had a big surgery. It was a nice visit and I kept it short. Just had a bacon and tomato sand. for dinner. Didn't feel like cooking tonight. Well have a happy evening...

Just got back from my evening walk. I waited for DH but he was very late, and so I ended up walking in the dark in our neighborhood. Steps today 14500, almost to my goal, but not quite.

Good evening everyone! I had a very busy day. I was going to take Laura to school this morning, but decided it worked easier for her to drop me off at the church office, and come back to get me later. It took a lot longer than I was planning on for the job I was doing at the office, so I ended up telling her to just go on and I got a ride from one of the staff members who lives near me. She was not leaving for an hour after I finished up, so I sat down on the couch in the front office/room and was going to play a game on my new phone, but ended up falling asleep. All the staff members tiptoed around so they would not disturb me. I finally woke up when someone was whispering goodbye to the administrator! It sure was nice to get in a nap! I got home and struggled with the new code on the garage door opener, but finally got it opened. I barely got in, and Tom was home and I had to get going on dinner. I just finished picking up some in the kitchen, and I am pooped!

Eating was so so today. The administrator brought me lunch since I was at the office twice as long as I expected to be. He got Chic-Filet nuggets, and waffle fries. I was so hungry, I ate them all! When I got home, I had a peanut butter and banana sandwich, and a glass of milk. Dinner was egg foo yung, and diet rite soda. Breakfast was an oat bran muffin (a small one). I also had a couple cups of coffee.

Now, if I had been following my own challenges like a good girl, I would have carried something for lunch, just in case I got stuck there at the office, or asked Ray to go to someplace that would have something legal for me to eat. I get an F for not planning ahead...

I am going to go chill. I may get back later to post a few replies.

PANCHO: I did want to say I did not go to a lingerie show, I went to a lingerie shower for a soon to be bride in our church.... I am not sure if I would enjoy a lingerie show. It sounds like something I would find boring since I am not into lingerie myself...and thankfully, neither is my husband. He much prefers skin.... oops! TMI!

More responses later.....

Hello Everyone!

We got home with our DS just fine. Didn't even get lost in Seattle!! The traffic there is horrendous! I am glad that we live on this side of the mountains and not the other. Even though it is absolutely beautiful over there with the rain forest and all. And we now have a freezer full of King Salmon and Sockeye Salmon. He is going to get started smoking some tomorrow.

I am glad to say that I have been 100% OP since last Saturday!! Not even one little cheat while we were gone. Yeah, for me. I did end up eating more of a Protein Power day on one occasion as we ate all three meals in restaurants. But that was okay, because most of the protein was fish. Did end up eating a big omelett for breakfast though.

Been busy making Salsa and canning it. Put up 33 pints today with more to do tomorrow. Friday or Monday we will have enough tomatoes ready to make juice.

I don't have the time tonight for replies.....but hope to get on early tomorrow and get some in. Thinking of all of you!! Sweet dreams all.

Good Tuesday MOrning,

I'm worn out today. AFter dinner last night I rested and then we went to the recycle bin and stopped for a frozen yogurt, then we walked about 1 mile.

About 3:00 I work up and my legs were driving me nuts, so I got up an soaked in the whirlpool tub for awhile. This morning my legs and arms are really heavy. But I figure the only way theya re going to get stronger is to keep them moving.

I was too tired to get to the grocery. Maybe tonight. The cupboard is really bare.

Toni, when you are struggeling is the best time to be on here. I know it keeps me from going totally haywire. Hang in there.

Gator, I brought the girls in the office a McDonald's pedometer. So we are all counting our steps. I really don't think they are very accurate. They say they aren't if you were sandals. Well, that's what I wear to work so I'm not sure what it accurate. I need to get a good one though.

Monet, The chick-filet nuggests are hardly breaded, but they are not very filling. I could eat 2 orders. Don't beat yourself up, just plan ahead next time.

Teensy, You go girl, no cheats. That had to be hard. Glad you had a good time.

Have a great day.

Jackie--I can't see why wearing sandals would affect the pedometer. What affects them is where you wear it and on what kind of waist band. If your waistband is too loose, it won't count your steps properly. And you have to wear it not too much in front, but over toward your hip, about 3/5 of the way over. It clicks a step each time it feels the rocking motion of your hip.
Jackie--Here is a website that has some pretty decent pix. of Cinque Terre. Just click on the names of the 5 towns and you can see some scenes.
http://www.elkarkom.com/italy/cinqueterre/

Haven't been out to walk today. Had cereal (Sh. Wheat) with a peach and sk. milk, and a soft boiled egg for BF.

Gotta go. Am having my hair done today. Yea! It's a mess right now.

Good morning. Can't believe I got woke up at the crack of dawn with the power company cutting trees away from the lines. We live in a very rural area so theres lots going on. Wish they would hurry and finish. DH and I keep checking out the windows to see what damage they're doing to the woods around us. But I guess they have to do that every few years. Didn't get much sleep last night so I'm a little shakey this morning. Have business in town I have to do so will start getting ready soon so I can go get it over with.

Jack-K- Hope you get to feeling better soon.... Maybe this evening you'll get to the grocery store....

Teensy- Wow salmon how great. And I love home made salsa. Don't work to hard today.

Better go.. Have a great day!!!

Morning! I got up and took Laura to work at Curves, and stayed and worked out myself. Then I went to the store, spent too much money, then to the credit union. I got home and had a bit of Total low carb cereal...tastes like sawdust...and had a turkey sandwich. I feel better now. I had not had breakfast before we left, and was starving by the time I got home. It probably contributed to my outrageous bill at the grocery store!

Tonight, for small group, we are celebrating Erik's birthday. I am going to make whole wheat pizza, salad and a chocolate cake, which I need to get going on. I have to go get Laura in a few minutes though, so will do it later. She has class this afternoon, so she will drop me off and take my car. This sharing my car is the pits! And poor Tom does not want to deal with it. I don't blame him!

I put the pedometer on first thing this morning, and already have about 4400 steps. Not bad for me! I need to clean this afternoon, before the group comes over, so hopefully the steps will add up.

Will check in later! Gotta scoot and get Laura!
