Default The GREAT PUMPKIN CHALLENGE - Week 6

Good morning pumpking challengers. I was down another 1/2 lb this morning so I just have 5 lb to lose to meet my challenge goal. But I'm not thrilled over my measurements. Who said that you can lose inches even when the scale doesn't move? It never happens for me. Still, I'm feeling firmer all over, have better endurance and strength and my clothes are feeling loose so I'm not going to complain. I just hope the tape measure starts to give me better news soon. Maybe I'm better off just to go by how my clothes fit for a while. I think I'm only going to measure once a month from now on. It's too darned depressing to see no change or, worse yet, an increase. Even if that increase is due to new muscle, it's still discouraging.

linda--i understand your frustration. it just about kills me to see no movement when i have been doing what i supposed to. are you still doing bodyflex? i just started doing it this morning and walked one mile with my walk-away-the-pounds one mile video. i will be going to a ball nov 8. supersized is sending me her size 18 evening gown that has been taken up to wear for the occasion. so, i'm trying to kick it in high gear to be able to fit myself into it. let's cross fingers and toes that it will. have a great week!

you can do it fullfig! you're my biggest inspiration. you'll be stylin' and profilin' at the ball.

i still can't find my bodyflex tapes. i've been so many days without a loss that i think tomorrow might be my lucky day. if y'all don't hear from me, you can assume that me feeling was wrong.

linda, i've always said that i wouldn't care if i weighed 500 pounds as long as i looked like i weighed about 135. haha. you're much healthier even if the tape measure isn't telling you what you want to hear. hang in there.

Thank you, my friends. I sure am feeling better these days.
Yes, I'm still doing Body Flex. I try to do it twice a day and I often practice the deep breathing while at the computer or driving somewhere.
I think I'm going to order those Walk Away The Pounds videos. From what I understand, you can just do them in your living room, right? As long as I have a sofa I can crash onto when I get pooped, I'm ok. It's when I go outside to walk and want to die a half mile from home...oh man, that really sux. I guess what I need is a friend with a pace car.
Fullfig, I'd be so thrilled to wear a size 18. Wow. I'm still in 22s but that beats the 26s I used to wear. Woooo hoooo! You will make it Fullfig and you'll stun 'em all at the ball.

I did manage to lose 1 pound this morning. YIPPEE! I didn't to walk at all today though. I had to use most of my lunch to prepare for an afternoon of reviewing contracts at one of our neighboring Army posts. I was pooped by the time I made it home. Tomorrow should have been my day off but I opted to take it later next week in order to get more work accomplished for our big meeting coming up. Oh well, enough whining from me.

Good luck ladies! May we all see some pounds/inches disappear over the next few days.

thanks supersized and linda.

supersized--oh how i wish you were here. you are truly my favorite prenatal companion! i only wish that i could style and profile half as well as you! congrats on the loss!

linda--congrats to you on your loss too. you can do the w-a-t-p videos right in the living room. you do get a much better workout with these than just walking--or i did anyway. i'm sure powerwalkers get the best. but these videos work upper body too. there are different sets out there. i wish i had the one with the belt/resistent bands, instead of the water balls. i think i've read that you can get a lot of that at halfprice.com or half.com or something like that. good luck!

Linda - If you are talking about the Leslie Sansone Walk away the Pounds tapes... they are WONDERFUL! I used them to lose 56 pounds back in 1999. All in my family room! She teaches you how to do the steps at a low impact level and at a bit higher pace when YOu are more fit! I use them still when I get bored with the Treadmill at home!

Default I Cant Believe its Week 6 Already!!!

I have modified my Great Pumpkin goal to 160. I have stalled then gained 2lbs so 154 is out of the question at this point. But I am not giving up. Hope my Monday weigh in at least has those pesky 2 gone!

I've lost 2 more pounds this week for a total of 3. I've lost 25 total since I started on Atkins but only 8 of the 20 pound goal I set for the GPC. I knew that 20 pounds was pretty unrealistic given my slow pattern but decided to aim high.

Hope all of you are enjoying a great weekend!

Don't forget to weigh in tomorrow. I probably blew the whole week just with Thanksgiving dinner tonight. Mind you, the only things I had that weren't OP were a dinner roll, some roast potatoes and a sinfully decadent chocolate cheesecake (just a tiny slice though). Hope I didn't do too much damage.

Good Monday morning!

I lost one pound this week. I feel pretty lucky to have done that. I made some chili a week ago. I picked out all the beans, but something in the chili made me gain 5 pounds overnight! It stayed on until about Wednesday. I don't think I'll be doing chili again, any time soon.

This pound puts me at 304. twenty-six pounds all together, and only 5 more to make my GPC goal.

Good luck to everyone!

Welcome no way but up! there's a lot of good support here.

Way to go Tippurr! You're doing great. I know what you mean about eating something off plan. On week 3 I ate a small amount of Mexican food and gained 3 pounds as a result. It took me all week to get the 3 pounds back off. I stick to the fajita salad without tortilla chips now.

I'm down 4 pounds this week. The weight-loss is going great. Still haven't found the key to motivating myself to excercize. I think I'm a bit afraid of it causing my weight to stop going down. But I'll be getting a better shape anyway, so that doesn't make much sense does it? I don't know. It's about priorities. Gotta make it higher on the list.

I've got the WATP tapes too, but haven't used them in forever. I got bored with the music and the conversation, but if I put on my own, I'm not necessarily at the right pace. Could work on that, though, if I gave it some more effort. Might actually be fun to put together some music that would work. (GAWD! Anything to keep me from actually excercizing!! )

Glad to have you here no-way-but-up. This is a great place for support and new ideas for success.

WOO HOO Jen and Karla! Way to Go!!

Jen dont worry about the weight loss slowing down with exercise. IT will at first for a couple of week, but hten BAM! YOu will start losing even faster because you have muscle to help burn more fat!

I am down another 1.5 pounds this week for a total of 10.5 for the challenge so far! Just 4.5 more to go!! WOO HOO!!!
