Morning all,
Sort of bright Saturday here. It is supposed to be the best day of the weekend weatherwise. Just hope it stays sort of like this for the rest of the day. I've come into work to clear up some bits and pieces I didn't manage to get done yesterday and will go down and pick up the car and the friend in a couple of hours.

Happy - so sorry you are so far overdue with projects and things. It's a bit pain to have to work so hard for so little understanding. Sleep well and know that I am thinking of you while you are slaving away. Wasn't technology supposed to relieve us of some of the burdens of work? Would someone remind me again of how that works?

Mel - I had a quiet word with my new 'friend'. I'd had a chat with the Change Manager earlier in the day and found out a couple of bits and pieces of information I had not been privy to earlier. So I played on the fact that she has two projects on the go and both interact with each other and that she has a conflict of interest and that we needed to come up with a solution that will be of benefit to both projects and result in a harmonious union of the two of them. Jeez I can be diplomatic at times!
We have thrashed out a solution - now we have to make it work. And no, I need the tfg like I need another hole in the head.

Holly - I'm so happy that things have settled down for you at home. Somehow it doesn't seem to matter if things at work go awry or completely off the track if you can come home to peace, harmony and quiet. I don't know if you will ever get more than 30% out of him on the housework side because men just don't seem to see the dust bunnies under the couch or the pile of dishes that should be in the dishwasher. After all the bench is a very convenient place to put things down, that's why it is made so wide!!!!

Okay, time to get on with things. I'm off. Probably be in here again tomorrow so I'll no doubt see you then.

Mornin'

Having my 2nd java.I am very happy to be home. happy sigh. I have appts booked to sign 4 new reps to my Avon team from the fair last night. Ran into some dear friends while there. Nice.

Today is about cleaning the house and organizing stuff and then shuffling kids to sleepovers and then going a bday party with more dear friends.
I am loving the cool, sunny fall days!!!

Might squeeze in some gardening.

Must says Mel's new boyfriend is a keeper!! Yummy.

Thanks Shad, my expectations were never really that high, common human kindness works. Good to see you are keeping everyone down under in line.

Not really a lot to tell about myself.

I am a Christian. Right now I don't work outside of the home. Would love to go back to work but with gas prices who can afford to make under 12 dollars an hour if they have to drive an hour to get to work. Something close to home would be great even if it doesn't pay much.

I have two children boy almost 21, has adhd, asberger and tourets. He is 21 going on 17, sometimes going on 13. They tell me he will hopefully catch up to his age in his late 20's. They didn't tell me the meds they were giveing me to stop labor ( he was two months early ) could cause all those problems. They no longer give woman those meds because of all the children who have problems, just like my sons, from the meds. I also have a girl almost 17, going on 40 lol. Have to say when I think I have done nothing good with my life, I look at them and know I have done something wonderfully.

I have just started on this journey to lose weight after years of being sick and meds packing the lbs on me. Was very happy the day the doc said everything ( for the time being ) was out of my system and I could TRY to lose weight. Seems everytime they give me a med for my lungs the lbs come along with it. I have done better than TRY, I am doing. Coming off very slowly but it is coming off. I am only averaging about a lb a week but that is 16lbs less to lose today than I had to lose a few weeks ago.

I was always naturally thin, never really thought much about it. Doesn't matter if I ate myself to this weight or medications put me at this weight. I can now get this weight off and keep it off. From what I have been told, and the posts I have read here on the site, diets don't work. People go back to the same eating habits they had before they started. I am not on a diet. I am changing the way I think about, look at and eat food.

I eat with the family when they are having my favorites, use a lunch plate instead of a dinner plate. When they aren't having my favorites I eat lean cuisines and lean pockets. Just dropping a lot of the fat out of my diet is helping. Portion sizes are my big problem. As I have gotten older I can't eat like I use to. The lean cuisines are really helping me get a good idea of what a real portion size is. As time goes by, I am eating less and less of the lean cuisines and more and more what the family is eating.

I saw someone talking about shopping. You know, trying to get a pair of shoes when the kids are doing their back to school shopping is terrible. All that pushing and shoving. If those darn kids would stay out of my way when I am trying to find a pair of shoes ( wear a size 2 in kids tennis shoes ) I wouldn't have pushed so much.

UPDATE
I am never again going to do my weigh in within the first couple of days when my dot is suppose to start. I know I weigh my most during those few days. Had my weigh in on tuesday. I hadn't lost anything, oh maybe 1/2lb but I don't count those. I stick with solid lb lose. Had to take my daughter to the doc today, we both have broncitus. Thought what the heck and she and I did another weigh in. I am down 2lbs

Quick pop in and Rennie.

Back from the touristy thing at the Church and out of that darn 1811 outfit! Those pioneers must have had tough skin! We had lots of visitors and the dogs did shifts really well although Doug and I were there for the duration. Lucy had about seven ginger cookies from crumbs! We ran out when it was Hershey's turn. People always want to give the dogs something! I'll remember to bring raw veggies next year.

I've just made a big batch of hummus and a veggie platter to take to the BD party tonight. Naturally I've tried it and will be breathing garlic on the world. I put some of my frozen red pepper puree in it and it's fabulous. Two years ago I bought a CRATE of red peppers, roasted them, peeled them and pureed them. They are just great in hummus or swirled in broccoli soup along with yogurt. I'm debating doing that again this year but have left it a bit late.

Next week is the IPM (International Ploughing Match) and the village is already busy with people coming in early. It's a huge deal with a tent city, entertainment, demonstrations and even some ploughing! About 30K to 50K peopel are expected. I won't be able to work it much as my damned knee can't handle all the walking over rough ground but will be doing some finance stuff online and also helping make 450 box lunches every morning! That's a heck of a lot of sandwiches at 4 slices of bread per lunch! Imagine peeling 450 boiled eggs.

Enough! I'm getting tired thinking of it. Time to change for dinner. It's at Doug and Claire's place - Shad's been there and knows how comfy these people are!

Hi, Rennie-- I am rather intermittent and currently on vacation in Maine.

DH and I have been in Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Rhode Island. I've seen both of my grown children... and we don't have to go home till next week. Wheeeeeeee.

The other 3FC thread I subscribe to has had so much depressing, sad or just plain bad news. From some of the perusing I've done here, I know this group hasn't been immune to that either.

All I can hope is that our hearts feel warmer as the weather gets colder.
DH and I visited "Lenny" in Scarborough, Me this afternoon.
1700 lbs of milk chocolate!

Wow Painter - all that chocolate on the hoof. Tell me, if you wanted to eat something like that, where would you start?

Just as a matter of interest where would anyone start? Please tell me.

Rennie, welcome to the nut house and wild life refuge centre. And I am only talking about me! I was debating the other day whether it was intro time again or not. We do it every so often - or at least I usually find something weird and wonderful to say about everyone. I won't try it just now since I am supposed to be working. So I will just have to talk about me.

I'm a Kiwi, (New Zealander) who lives in Australia to raise the iq over here. At present I'm living in Perth on the West Coast of the continent. Normally I live in tropical Queensland on the East Coast. I have 2 sons, 31 and 33. One lives in Queensland and the other in South Australia. One repairs crushing machinery and is doing an electrical apprenticeship and the other is in IT and currently changing his job to work in the (no) help desk at the University of SA where he will probably study for another degree at the same time. He holds a pilots licence and speaks Italian. Makes for an interesting resume! The other one is locally known as action man - his time off is spent jet skiing, climbing cliffs and jumping out of perfectly good aeroplanes (however he never tells me about it until he has landed). I work as a workplace trainer. I train in computer programs for large companies, mostly mines and resources. It gives me a good living (although I always whinge about the job when I am doing it) and I get to travel alot. I've just come back from a jaunt around the States and Canada and very nice it was too. I wouldn't mind finding some work over there, but then again I don't have a green card and probably wouldn't win the green card lottery if I applied 10,000,000 times.
Enough about me.

Ruth - do we get to see photos of the lady in the 1812 Overture - uh sorry, the 1811 outfit. Better not make you younger than you are. Glad that you had a good time at the Open Doors project and naturally enough Lucy would be right in there when the food was being handed out. That red pepper puree sounds so good. If they ever come down in price here, I might do the same. I love roasted red peppers - yum meeeeeeee.
450 lunch boxes!!!! 450 boiled egg!!! Is there enough hens in Delta to provide that many eggs (sorry Happy - aigs!)
I though Doug and Claire had a great place. Please pass on my regards and say g'day to the dog!!!! Lovely people. I'm sure you will be well fed.

Holly - enjoy the party. Glad the Avon is going so well. I've always found with my kids that if I let them know what I expect of them, then they are more likely to conform and be pleasant. Aren't DH's just big kids???

Gotta go and do some work. I'll be back tomorrow. Lemme see if I can attach a piccy of the wildflowers. Just a moment please.

Nah the pictures are too large apparently. I'll try again from webshots.

Okay, I have the photos on Webshots. Someone else will need to find the addy because when I do, you lot can't see them.
Also, one or two of them are sideways on. I can't rotate them unless I have webshots desktop on my computer and the system won't let me download it. But you can just lean over anyway.

Morning chicks,

The fun continues. Back is all stiff and sore - woke up barely able to move yesterday. (Personally I think it's residual stress coming out one spot on my back )

Anyway if I want DH to help me with the grocery shopping, he insists we go early so I have just enough time to duck in here while pretending to drink my coffee.

I'll be back later. WELCOME RENNIE!!!!!! Always nice to have a new hen in the coop!
