So, I was here for about 2 minutes and joined the July Challenge, and then got majorly derailed. I'm not going to fuss about it, I'm just going to get back to it like the adult that I've apparently been for years now. Hope everyone else has done better than me!
I figure my goal will be 6 lbs for the rest of September, so that gives me a little over 2 weeks, and 3lbs/wk at a start weight is doable for me (though my period is scheduled to start soon, which can often throw things off, so we'll see). I'm going to try daily weighing to keep on track, at least for now, but my "official" weigh in day is Saturday.
As I was getting over a previous cold, another one has hit me in the face over the weekend. I swear...working with 5 and 6 year old kiddos is like a year-round illness! I'm making some packaged soon dubu (Korean soft tofu soup) with some protein for dinner tonight. The entire soup package is below 15 net carbs, so if I split it into two meals with the protein, it fits into my lazy macros. Hoping I can see 150 tomorrow after a slight gain of 152.2! We'll see. I did have quite a bit of sodium today, oops!
Atarimae: That day care to beginning elementary age definitely bring in ALL the colds. Good luck to you getting over this one quickly.

Total Loss for Week Three:
Back down into the 175s again today. I've been all over the place this month. I really was hoping for a great September on the scale, but that has not happened yet. But last month, I lost nothing all month until the very end and then whooshed several pounds the last few days. That definitely is my pattern right now in general, stall and whoosh. So I'm not losing hope yet for September. Going to just keep on doing what I've been doing and wait for a whoosh.
Highest weight of September. How peculiar! It's alright, if I had to guess, the tofu soup was high sodium and I did eat almost the whole thing instead of a half portion. I'll have to make sure I have enough water today. I won't weigh into my other challenges today though; I can feel in my body that all's not quite right.
I'm just doing a quick mid-week check in while I have a moment. I'm waiting on my phone to charge. I don't have a plug-in next to my side of the bed, so here I am waiting up so I can get a little bit of juice to last through the night so that I'll have an alarm in the morning.
I have avoided the scale every day so far. I'm not sure if it's helping me or not. Usually seeing that number in the mornings keeps my mind on track. Anyway, I'm just trying to stay focused on my foods. Today, I overate at dinner, but it was with foods that are on-plan. I feel bloated though. Aunt Flo is right around the corner and I know my hormones are going crazy. I told DH last night that I want to stay on-plan for 7 straight days. So, last night we went out to eat and I ate a couple of things off plan. So, my goal is 7 full days without a cheat of any kind...meaning no off-plan foods. I've made it through day 1...yay! 6 more days to go. The hardest part is the weekend, so I'm going to have to stay focused, plan my meals, and only eat when hungry. I need to drink more water and less coffee and diet drinks...I'm pretty sure I have said that once before this month.
Atarimae, I have found with keto that I need to have a higher sodium content to balance out my electrolytes. I've been using the pink himalayan salt. I haven't found that salt makes me retain any water weight because of the way keto flushes everything out. I find your gain interesting. It may be because you are getting sick...
Thanks for the well wishes Lacerta!
I kind of may agree, sgregg...though I did still feel bloated despite my portions not being super outrageous yesterday. Great job on the one day of being on plan. You can do this! I won't be able to do seven straight days this week...we have another family dinner on Saturday, and the family is buying fried noodles from this local place that is essentially my Achilles heel of carbs. Just no overdoing it I guess!
Also TOTAL TMI, but I had 3 #2s today , which normally is NOT the case. I'm also hydrating extra since I'm at the, "nose is a faucet" stage of the cold. And OF COURSE, it's an extended faculty meeting day, so I had to stay later than normal today. Oh well, that's life!
I just wanted to say thank you all for posting as frequently as you do here. It's been awhile since I felt this motivated to check in as frequently as I have been. You all are doing wonderful!.
Thanks, Lacerta! Also, I've found that my pattern when I really get into losing is definitely stall, stall, stall, whoosh, repeat. Do you weigh daily? If so (or not), do you find that helps or makes it harder?
Thank you, sgregg! Weekends can be hard to stay on plan with lots of hanging out and festivities revolving around food. It's a group social activity. Hopefully this weekend is smooth sailing for you!
Keala: I do weigh in daily, so I can track the data in a graph (I use a lesser known program called Fitday that I've used for almost 15 years now). So I really try not to pay too much attention to the daily weights and just focus on the weekly trends or even the monthly trends. Like right now, I'm not moving, but overall, I'm still slightly ahead of my "goal line" to get where I want by the end of the year, so I figure I'm doing all right. Also, in the last two weeks, my Sunday to Sunday weight has only dropped 0.2 pounds total for 2 weeks. But my average weight is down 2.4 pounds over that same time period. So if I was only weighing weekly, I'd be really frustrated, but really, I'm dropping rather nicely. This week, on the other hand, I think my average has stalled or even gone up a little bit. This week really is a big old stall. I also take measurements once a month.

Oops, had to fix my post from yesterday. Apparently I didn't post on the 17th, so when I posted yesterday, I filled in the wrong day. Anyway, back up into the 176s again today. Lalala, just hanging out here.
Wow, really wanting to check out Fitday. Sounds like a beneficial data source! It definitely sounds like something that would make me not feel so blah when weigh-days are higher than I'd like.
...which, I just told the hubby, "ALL IS RIGHT WITH THE WORLD AGAIN!" It looks like my shark week is around the corner, which would help to further explain a slight gain. Scale went back down a little. At this rate, I should be posting daily weigh-ins! Have a great day!
I think apps like HappyScale or Libra (depending on which OS your phone is) have a lot more features. I just haven't switched because I have 15 years of data on Fitday and don't really want to give that up. I'd definitely go with HappyScale or Libra if I was just starting out.
Atarimae, I would think you should see a loss after your bathroom trips..lol!
I use MyFitnessPal to track my daily weights. I don't even use the food diary part. Well, I said daily, but I didn't weigh in daily this week. I weighed in this morning...still holding at 194. So much for my 7 days on plan.. I had to go with DH to an appointment yesterday and we ended up eating out afterwards...of course, I didn't choose something on plan! Anyway, back on track today...
We are having company this weekend, but we are planning to grill, so it should be easier to stay on plan than not.
Hope you all have a great Friday and rest of your weekend if I don't get to come post!

Total Loss for Week Three:
After a long realistic talk with myself (and with hubby occasionally nodding or putting in a helpful word, probably so I looked less like a crazy woman talking to herself), I've decided that my weight loss slowdown is most likely due to too much chocolate. So that is going to be my next healthy habit to work on. I don't think I can cut it out completely, at least right now, but my next goal is going to be to cut back on chocolate to a small amount each day. I was doing that before, but as everything else has gotten healthier, I think I've been compensating by eating more chocolate. Especially this last month after I switched out my breakfasts from Cheerios. That cut out about 500 calories per day, so I SHOULD have been losing a pound a week extra, so instead of 2-3 pounds a month, I should have gone to 6-7, going only by that number, which clearly hasn't happened. As I look objectively back, I think I've recently been eating about 250 to 300 calories per day in chocolate on average. That's the difference of 2 to 2.5 pounds per month. So new goal is only 100 calories of chocolate per day, and once I get used to that again, I'll work on making it 50.

A couple pounds gained this week but I can't say that I tried to lose weight. It's been a weirdly busy yet not busy week? Do any of you guys ever feel that way? I had my doctors appointment on Friday, I told her about my intestinal issues + my increase in anxiety. She turned the appointment into my annual physical so that I could get labs done for free (+ my flu shot) to see if there's anything going on that she can treat. Otherwise she gave me the impression is it sounds like I might have IBS and to try and avoid triggering foods. Overall, she "prescribed" me to start exercising and taking care of myself more, which I already knew but somehow hearing it from a doctor always makes me feel like it has to become official!
Global warming is truly frightening this year, seeing the monthly weather forecast is a bit concerning knowing what averages have been like previously. Despite the warm weather here in GA, I'm trying to decorate my apartment with more Autumnal things! I've gotten some pumpkin lights, a pumpkin/leaf kitchen towel and a skeleton frog all for fun. I was tempted to get a ghost blanket too haha. Do you guys like to decorate for autumn?
I looked at some before and afters on Instagram this morning for inspiration, sometimes I find it really helps seeing that people have gone through what we're going through and have been successful. I really want to be able to post a great before and after someday and hopefully inspire people!
Gonna do personals in the "Advanced Post" mode which lists most recent first, so I'm sorry if my personals are a bit strange and I missed any replies from my last post!
Lacerta - You're almost at the point where I was in my previous weight loss journey where I started introducing more calories into my daily allowance. The reason was that I was exercising frequently, so my body needed more fuel. There will be stalls like this in the future where you'll need to change things up, so it's good that you're open to change and analyzing yourself. Cutting out on chocolate is a good starting point though, the sugars won't be doing you any favors. Do you eat dark chocolate? I find it to be so rich that I only want a little bit at a time, plus there are some benefits to dark chocolate vs. milk. I used to haaate dark chocolate because it wasn't sweet enough, but I grew to like the flavour!
sgregg - I feel we're in the same boat haha. We can do this! Have a great weekend grilling!
Atarimae - Always down to hear some TMI haha! That's quite a lot of #2's in one day! Working with kids does mean getting sick ALL the time! It sucks. Hope you feel better.
Keala - Welcome and looks like you're doing wonderfully so far! Keep it up!
