Jane -- I'm chuckling over the love/hate relationship with your hair. I'm growing mine out and wondering why I made this decision. Hope yours ends up more love than hate. Loved your description of having your nephew stay over. I'd give anything to have that much energy again. You are a good aunt. And congrats on the weight coming off -- and it is hard to stick on plan while on a vacation.

Didn't get my yoga done yesterday, but will do it today. In fact, I'm going to do yoga before going to the gym just to get it over with. I don't think I've reached that mental stage yet where yoga moves my mind out of it's zone. Then off to the gym and try to get in my walk BEFORE starting on the yard work that I need to do. You'd think with as many times as I post about doing yard work that it would be a gorgeous yard. Of course, I actually have to get out there and do it instead of just posting about it.

Good morning!

I'm up a pound, but I feel TOM lurking, may start today, which is just a super awesome thing to deal with on my way to a wedding. I suppose it's way better than camping though!

I have yoga tonight, and it's going to be a little rougher than normal, because I switched vehicles with my bf and forgot my padded mat in mine! So that means just my regular mat between me and the cement. Oh well.

Then I have to rush home and clean and pack for this weekend and start getting ready for the next one.

hi everyone. been a rough week. it's been at least 90 with heat indexes of above 100 since Sunday, and I'm feeling craptastic because I have done 0 exercise in the past week and a half, unless you count sweating my balls off just standing there.

that counts, right?

Wheezypi... you crack me up... and as far as that counting... it should most definitely count for something... LOL

yeah, I know right? gross, but I came home after going out to eat with my husband and his brother and sat down on the toilet and nearly slid off because I was so sweaty. I thought NY wasn't supposed to be like this!

Now's probably not a good time to mention that morning temperatures out here are in the 50s and the high is expected to be in the mid-80s......which the natives consider to be HOT.

Jane -- Yoga on concrete does not sound comfortable. My yoga class is called Yoga for the Inflexible and she lets us use chairs a lot. We use the mats mainly to keep from sliding as it's a wood floor. Have you been able to tell a difference in your flexibility yet? Your schedule sounds hectic. Is your doggie going with you or staying with a friend?

Wheezypi -- cracked me up with your reference to sliding off the toilet. In spite of my weather report, I can relate as we have no air conditioning out here and when it gets in the 90s, it's miserable. The restaurants aren't even air conditioned a lot of the time -- can't imagine working in the kitchen. Hope it cools down. I think it counts as exercise if you're walking to the freezer to open the door and stand in front of it!

I have gained 3 pounds in the last two days because of eating cashews. Between the high fat and the salt, my fingers look like vienna sausages. NO MORE BIG JARS OF CASHEWS FROM COSTCO. EVER. WALK ON BY. OK, need to get it in gear so I can go walking before going to the gym.

Wheezy It's been really hot here too. I haven't slid off anything, but our power was out for about six hours yesterday, which meant no AC, and I thought I was melting.

I'm happy to say I handle the heat way better now than I did at my heaviest. The year before last our furnace quit and we couldn't afford to fix it, so we had no air conditioning. I was nearly 500 pounds and spent a great deal of my time in the shower under cool water.

Betsey Puppy is going to stay at my in law's this weekend. My mother in law babysits my SIL's dogs all the time and calls them her "grand dogs". She was really upset when she found out that Toby is staying at my mom's when we go to Wisconsin, so we had to let her take him this time.

Whoops Betsey I forgot to answer about the yoga: It actually wasn't bad on the regular mat. I'm definitely more limber than I was, and she's very careful not to have us put pressure on the knee caps. I found some poses easier actually!

My teacher is leaving in September, and I'm devastated. She brought me so far and gave each student so much individual attention (not to mention a neck massage at the end of each class!) Can't believe I only have her a few more weeks!

fortunately most places are AC'ed here Betsey, but most houses don't have central AC so we're stuck with the ones that pop in the window. some of the house is pretty cool but the rest is a sauna. I've been doing my best to NOT cook for the past week except for using the crock pot. tonight's chinese night and I couldn't be more excited to not give a crap about what I'm eating for a day.

Jane, I'm so with you there as far as the heat not being nearly as bad this year as it was when I was heavier. I could sit in the AC last year and still be sweating profusely. this year it seems like I'll go outside when it's 90something and not sweat immediately. the humidity is what's really killing us. and we still have so much packing to do and are supposed to be moving tomorrow but it's just been too damn hot to do anything that would be misconstrued as strenuous, hah.

oh!! excellent news. my husband got a promotion! he's now a technician supervisor. I don't think I've ever talked about his job -- he installs directv/satellite internet. now he's going to be a supervisor.

Congrats to your man on the promotion!

The humidity is killer here right now. And tomorrow we have an outdoor wedding. I think every guest is going to smell pretty ripe!

people who get married outside annoy me. especially during the summer. weather prediction is not an accurate science. not only that, but holy **** does a whole lot of people in 90 degree weather smell like a nasty used sock drawer.

and thanks! I think it sorta kinda means more money, in a round about way. the most important thing is he won't be busting his a$$ outside in the heat every single day, and when it's slow (he gets paid by job) he'll be making the same amount no matter what because he is salaried.

Jane -- chuckling over your MIL's grand dogs! Toby sounds as though he will be well cared for during the wedding weekend and the Wisconsin trip! Sorry your yoga lady is leaving. I am making myself do it, but I'm not to the point where I just rave about it yet. Evidently not moving much for the last 3 decades has stiffened a few muscles/tendons.

Wheezypi -- Congrats on your husband's promotion -- and hope that the move occurs today. I laughed at your description of outdoor weddings. I don't think I've heard of anyone out here having one because to say that the weather is unpredictable is truly an understatement.

I can commiserate on the humidity -- although it's nothing like what you've both been having to deal with. I grew up in the Midwest and lived in the South for most of my life, so moving out here has been wonderful. I know the rainy season drives some people nuts, but other than it makes my arthritis ache, the temperature comfort level is so refreshing.

Off to do my yoga, have my Saturday morning phone calls to old friends, and take my walk. Then I really am going to tackle the weeding. I need to get it in gear.

if anyone is in the New England region, I'm sure you're feeling like me and doing a "happy dance" because the heat wave is over! That was insane! breathing is much easier today... I can still feel a bit of thickness in the air, but it's supposed to be gone by tomorrow (at least, it is here in VT). It was even too hot for the beach, which was very hard to explain to my 7-year-old. Anyway, I hope everyone, regardless of where you are in the world, has an awesome weekend full of love, laughs, and memories!

The heat wave broke here in Michigan too. I actually drove around this afternoon with the windows open! Last week was miserable.

Glad the heat wave is over -- don't know if it's the weight, age, or what, but heat just saps me. Hope that you all are able to enjoy the rest of the weekend.
