Hi chickies! I think it's time for me to plant my sizeable butt in the 250s thread. I was at 257 for awhile, until I was derailed by monthly bloat and water retention. But I'm back, and hopefully I'll be looking at 249 soon. That will be a watershed moment for me...I'll actually be less than my driver's license weight of 250

Good luck to all of us!

The first two weeks of South beach will get all of your water weight out of your system, so you should see some exciting numbers. Then in my experience you will lose 1-3 lbs a week just like any other diet, but you will not be hungry once your carb craving is taken care of by getting the empty carbs and sugar out of your system.

Thanks! Having sugar and carb withdraw But Its only day 2 so hopefully it will get better

Uggg I have been off and on plan like it was a stair stepper, for most of this past week. Right now my scale is up EIGHT pounds, but I suspect a fair bit of that is from sodium, so I am hoping to lose a decent amount of it by tomorrow, when I am supposed to weigh in. I am positive I didn't actually GAIN 8lbs, so hopefully I can knock it back down to at least my last week's weigh in. I'm hoping for "no loss" as opposed to "a gain".

SHAME ON ME :P Oh well, sometimes there will be weeks like these, what's important is getting back on track!

I'm doing the Dukan Diet which has a similar type of detox period. I found that taking Magnesium/Potassium supplements really helps with the withdrawal. In the past, when I've tried Atkins or similar low carb, it's been so bad I quit after a day or too. This time, I had a couple of not great days but not so bad I couldn't get through them and I feel really good now, 11 days in.

You KNOW you didn't eat 28000 excess calories, so yeah, that's not real weight gain. Even if it's not all off the scale by WI, just keep on going, esp. with the water, and you'll get through it.

That's exactly my thoughts too. I am part of the biggest loser challenge, so I MAY push my weigh in back by a day if need be, to get a more accurate reading. NO sodium today or tonight, and 96oz of water, here I come! LOL

I have been retaining water like crazy. I started drinking more green tea which is supposed to be a natural diuretic and I am peeing non stop now, so hopefully my weigh in will get me off of my plateau this week.

The first week on a low carb diet is hard but boy will you love your numbers when you weigh in!

Welcome to the thread gloo!

Congrats Lambiechop! I hope to be out of the 250's soon if I can stop blowing up like a Macy's Thanksgiving parade float!

I'm just barely in the 250's again. Hope to get out asap! Doesn't everyone though? haha

I was 219 last October. Pretty disappointed in myself, but I am on my way back down.

Hey guys, it's been a while. I'm in at 254.8 today. For the past two weeks, my life has been incredibly hectic- moving, starting a new job, lotsa stuff. Calorie counting was the last thing on my mind.. I was just trying to eat healthy for the first week, and i think i maintained fairly well. Then I started my job at Subway (which rocks btw, basically get a free meal when i'm there, and its really healthy because the bread i eat there is usually the only bread i eat all day) Somehow, even though i got a meal at work, i'd still want dinner at like, 8pm. So we'd eat then.. and i started eating 4 meals a day without realizing it. Whelp, I gained about 3.5 lbs back (which in my opinion isn't too bad, but still the enemy!) So I'm still here, and i've fallen off the wagon, but i'm getting back on today!

Hi all! I don't officially belong in here yet, but I wanted to peek in and see what's going on. My goal is to join you all officially by June 17, although I'm sure most of you will have moved on by then!
Keep up the good work ladies!
