Oh I have been up all night. I am in the middle of my workout just thought I should pop in to say helloooo.

Sleep deprivation is making me feel a bit insane. WEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!

Hrm I wonder when I am going to go to sleep and when I should start counting food and such on the 14th instead of the 13th.

Beach - You and I will lose all of our weight, no matter what! Right now you're in a small, TEMPORARY, bind. Things will get better on the health front. I am SO hoping it is not your back!! My dad is only 49 and has had 3 back surgeries already. They are very intense and hard to recover from. I will keep you in my healing thoughts!

Retire - A very happy birthday to your mom! 92 is amazing, she is a real inspiration!

Dgramie - Gardening sounds so nice! Here its all desert so there isnt much to do, however when we visit my inlaws in southern California, our girls love to help Grandma garden!

Prinny - You crack me up!

Soo.. I started my tattoo last night. This was my "goal" tattoo and being 7lbs away, I decided to give in and start it early. Its under my collar bone, above my breasts, and all the way across. (I know most of you probably despise this, but I love it!) It was just the outline this session and took 2.5 hours. I go back in 3 weeks for shading, than 3 weeks after that for full color.

I W-I at 162 this morning, and changed tickers. Life is good

Vegaspunkermom I like good tattoos and that looks very promising! I have one myself, on my shoulder from years ago.

Down to 153.4 this morning, er, well EVENING. I got up at 7PM after being up for about 24 hours. Lots of cleaning to do tonight I guess that'll be my workout for today.

Good Morning Ladies

Going to have a nasty rainy day,so we both going to take it easy today. The the only thing we don't like about the Cape is the weather, every on is having such a beautiful Spring day and we get the eat in your bones dampness.

PRINNY-Maybe you could get to bed earlier and stop exercising at bed time would bring the ZZZZ's back again. Congrats on your weight loss also.

VEGAS-Thanks,Right now I'm thinking about my back, but if I had back problems wouldn't it hurt all day. The pain seems to start around 5PM and last during the night if I don't take a pain killer. The doctor believes its leaning on my syactic nerve that causing the pain.Dr Told me if the MRI shows it not a disc He will give me a cortisone shot in my syactic nerve.

Gee so sorry about your dad being so young with back problems, and having 3 surgeries. I read that they don't cut the back anymore they use a method call microsurgery,
Quote:
The tubular retractor that is used to create a tunnel down to the spinal column where the herniated disc is located measures 1.6 cm in diameter (about ¾ of an inch). The actual skin incision is a little bit longer than this, but is generally about an inch in length. This type of surgery uses a "muscle splitting" approach, so that the tubular retractor is passed through a tunnel in the muscles of the back, rather than stripping them away from the spine, as in an open discectomy.
Big congrats on your weight loss, you'll be beating me down the scale, and hit 160's before me. YES!! you correct I'm one of the one who doesn't like tattoos, but who cares what I think, you love them & that all that matters.

You're a very pretty young lady, and big congrats for losing all that weight. Its easier when you start younger that at my age.My DD is always telling that.

Can't do anything now,but I think exercising is the key to weight loss, but I can't do any, until this leg problem is solved.

Have a great morning, going to rest my leg

I'm very new to the calorie counting thing. I started weight watchers January 18 and 3 weeks ago bought a bodybugg and started counting calories. I'm losing a bit more and consistently so far with the bugg and counting calories, but was curious........

Should I just worry about the calories or should I be focused on sodium, fat, fiber, etc., etc.? Like I said, I'm new so would appreciate any tips/advice.

Hi Hiyas! I'm new to this site and figured I'll probably be counting calories. I've tried other types of dieting and I just think that this will help me be more mindful of what I'm eating for the longterm and not just focusing on the "diet".

Tattoos are awesome! Is that your first one Vegaspunkermom? The one in my picture is a tiny portion of my huge tattoo, which was my first. Go big or go home, right? Er, or should I change that to go little? hehe.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to getting to know y'all and learning from you!

Prinny - I just saw your mini goal numbers. Those look good!! Congrats on the loss!

Beach - Thanks so much for the compliment That was so nice to hear!
I dont think its your back. I have a hard time trusting Drs, and I believe went they dont know whats exactly wrong, they'll blame in on something else. (We have no idea whats wrong with your leg, so it must be your back) All I would say is rest, do upper body workouts when you can, and dont settle for any answer you dont feel is the right one.
Yeah, my mom isnt too fond of tattoos either. She hasnt seen this one yet, but Im sure when she does she'll say something like "Its your body" lol Different generations I suppose, but it is what it is. In the end Im happy so she's happy

Mel - In my opinion, Id mainly stick with calories, but also watch your fat intake a bit as well. You dont want to eat 1400 calories of junk ya know? Has to be pretty healthy, most of the time. Welcome & hope to get to know you better soon!

Shannon - Welcome! Im sure you'll find that CC is really the best way to lose the weight & keep it off. I believe its the only method that is truly a lifestyle change, and thats what matters. I suppose unless one plans to eat WW forever.. lol
This isnt my first tattoo. I have 6 others, biggest being back of my neck piece, and right leg piece (2 sessions, 8 hour chair time) dedicated to my kids. I have plans for at LEAST 3 more pieces for sure, 2 medium, 1 big. I also am considering 4-5 other pieces right now but havent decided for sure yet. My husband is fully covered.

beach bum Well when I work out is limited by the weather, if it's hot and it is during the day now usually no way I can work out. I am also limited by my DH's schedule as well. Right before bed is usually the only time I have to do it.

Vegaspunkermom Yeah I just kind of pulled them out of my rear, but I have been crunching some numbers and...

After choosing a few weight numbers, almost arbitrarily for the most part, and counting it looks like it takes me an average of 21 days to lose 5 pounds. Wow. I was hoping to lose 2 pounds a week when I started this but I just don't. The longest period was 23 days, when I was sick. The shortest was 18 and I hoinestly have no idea what to attribute that to. In anycase I double checked my minigoals and the first two are right on target for 21 days, the last one however is not. Well WAS not I am going to adjust it out a week based on my calculations. We shall see if my basic pattern holds as I go. It'll be interesting to see if my math holds up, eh?

Good Morning Ladies

The sun is out again, wish I could go out and do some walking, but I forgot to ask the doctor if it was ok to do.

Still up a little from my last W-I and I wondering now why it hasn't gone down.I stopped my breads and the only carbs I'm eating are cereals, pasta & rice.
Maybe its the side effects from the meds????????? Wish I could put a finger on it.

MELWOLFE-Welcome to the board.I use the WW points to count my calories, and I'm using 1300 -1500 which is[26p-30p]I started in the beginning at 1800 cal than I went down to 1600 and I'm now at my present range. Its just trial & error I suppose. I agree with Vegas you must start with healthy foods & watch the fats.

SHANNON-I stopped using the diets out there,I found that all the noes in the diets were driving me crazy, now I just concentrate on calorie counting my way of the WW point system.

VEGAS-The orthopedic doctor in our town is a very well known sports doctor in this part of the northeast..I really trust him and I really believe in him. Hopefully the scan of my back will end the mystery,as I do have 3 deteriorated discs in my back 2 in the lumbar section and 1 in my neck. The only question is why does it hurt only in the evening????

PRINNY-Sorry I didn't know your schedule, just do the best you can.

I have my computer back! After being in the shop for nearly 3 weeks, turns out it was the graphics card and the hard driving both packing it in at the same time.

I've put new ones in (wasn't going to pay them $120 each to do the job for me!) and I'm back.

Prinny. I found I stopped stressing so much about hitting my goals when I stopped concentrating on them, and just did what needed to be done. I still graph, but I don't have a target line any more, and if I am still achieving a downward trend (which I am) I'm happy.

Nonnahs and melwolfe. Welcome! I started by just focusing on calories. That's all. You get to a point where you are keen to maximise your calories, and then to minimise the stuff you may be eating excessively. But don't stress about it (my message for the day! ).

Vegaspunkermom. Awesome tat! It's going to look great when it's all coloured.

Off to go for a run now. Cheers chickies!

Primm I have specific events that I am losing for and I do have to be a certain size by August or I am going to have big, expensive problems. Plus if I don't have dates and a timetable I get more frustrated because this seems like it takes forever. Now I know about how long 5 pounds takes I go less crazy about it.

Of course that's if I stay on track. We took a random drive out to the coast and stumbled on a restaurant in a little podunk town that had Hungarian food so we said to **** with it and had fantastic dinner. Was back up to 154 as a result today but I don't think I went more than a few hundred over for the day in total so I should be able to make that back. I also did a LOT of cleaning and have sore muscles today, and I know I didn't drink enough water because I was so busy and that could be the reason I am up too.

Good Morning Ladies

We're having rain again, and until we get this damp weather gets out of here Leo & I are going to be hurting. Hope it chances by the time the Memorial Weekend rolls around. We planning our first BBQ of the season than.

PRIMM-Glad you got your computer back, its horrible to have to live without it,when we became so accustomed to having one.How do you know what calorie range is right for you??? Is it just by trail and error???? Or do you work with a set amount of calories than a range where you can Zig Zag them.

DGRAMIE-Big Congrats on your maintaining, I think we all feel that way.I for one can't exercise[until I get the doctors ok] and that what putting me in the not losing mode. Its going to take for ever for me to get out of the 160's. Here's to a better W-I next week.
