Wow, it seems like a lot of us have hit 171! I weighed myself in this morning and I had a 2.4lb loss, bringing me down to about 171.8! I only have about 2lbs to lose to hit 169, so I think I may be able to do that by my deadline, which is January 27th, my birthday!

*dances for joy*

Congratulations to everyone else on their losses! AmberD, sometimes the body does strange things. I second the suggestion to drink lots of water and not worry too much. I`ve gained a couple times, and it`s even happened when I stuck to my diet and exercised. Maybe you`ll have a bigger loss than usual on your next weigh-in. Good luck!

YAY kirjava! You're so close to getting out of the 170s!

I weighed in today to see if the loss stuck and it did... and then some. I'm at 173 this morning. As long as I stay OP and pay attention this long weekend, I should be golden. I'm so excited! 160s, here I come!!

Is it too late for me to join in? I just got here! I'm 173 this morning and would love to be down to 169 by Feb 1st or at least by Valentine's Day if those 4 lbs. are too much to lose in two weeks. (Still learning how to diet, sort of.)

It's never too late to join this thread... unless you're already in the 160s, I guess.

4lbs in two weeks is definitely doable, so I hope you can meet your deadline. If your scale shows weight in decimal numbers, you might only have to lose 3.something to dip below that 170 mark (I love using the Wii Fit balance board as my scale for this very reason).

If you don't mind my asking, what is your diet like?

I'm gonna join too! I have been stuck in the 170s forever! I got down to 172 right after Thanksgiving and have gained back 5 pounds since then due to being home from school and the holidays.

I hope to start losing again when the spring semester starts next week and ideally I would like to be out of the 170s by the end of February.

lori - Welcome! Anytime's a good time to join!

sugar - Welcome also!! Being home more often than I'm used to makes it hard to stay OP, so I understand where you're coming from.

Thanks for letting me join in and welcoming me!

Well, I'm not doing anything very official yet as far as dieting goes. I'm just trying to cut out sugar and most refined carbs and trying to concentrate on lean meats and veggies and hummus and fruit. For a snack I eat one of those popcorn snacks that are 100 calories a bag. Sometimes I just crave carbs and that helps with the cravings without too many calories.

I guess I'm not really on a diet so much as just trying to get more fiber into my life via vegetables and fruits and complex carbs like beans.

It's only been 8 days so far, so I kind of have to figure out what to do as I go along. I just have to learn what works for me and what doesn't.

lori - You're right on with that! It takes small tweaks to figure out what'll work for you. Great job so far!!

everybody is getting so close!! I weighed myself this morning, 172! SO CLOSE!! I'm STILL sick (I am allergic to most antibiotics and this has become a upper respiratory thing, I'm on the road to recovery, but it'll take several weeks) so no exercise (I'm hoping to be off bedrest in a few days). But I've been trying to eat small portions and fill up on hot tea. Apparently that's still working! Eeeep! Usually an illness like this will totally kill my diet so this is super exciting!!! Just a few more lbs till I'm in the 160s!!!! Let's keep going!

Congratulations on your run, jazzang!

I hope you feel better soon, MyPitBullSmiles, and way to go making it to 172!

Sounds like good choices, HealthierLori! I've had success dieting the way I've been dieting, but now that I'm doing a big grocery order (I live where everything has to be flown in), I'm looking into adding some more fresh fruits and vegetables and some fresher foods. Grocery orders cost me the price of the groceries plus an extra fee per order for the grocery store to put it together, so I'm trying to make a couple giant orders this year instead of many small orders throughout the year, with the result that a lot of what I have now is non-perishable and frozen stuff because it's easier to keep... though unfortunately not quite as good for me, though I'm careful about what I eat.

I have a lot of frozen vegetables, some frozen fruit and dried fruit, but I feel like I need something more. I've ordered cucumbers and red peppers and some hummus dip, clementines, bananas, strawberries. Most of my between-meal snacks right now are granola bars or NutriGrain bars, which I love, but are heavier, processed, and have a lot of carbs.

It will be nice to have something really fresh again.

Awe shucks I weighed in this morning and I am back at 179, I gained back the 3lbs that I just lost 1 week ago. What gives I was at the gym 5 days last week and ate really healthy. It was my TOM last week and I confess, I ate a few pieces of dark chocolate, but not 3lbs of it. I guess I just haven't found out what works for me yet. The good thing is, my pants are less tight so I am definately losing inches. Could the 3lbs be from the 5 days of strength training because my muscles are very tight and sore?

I am not going to worry about the scale, I will stay focused and return to the gym tonight, so wish me luck. I am determined to get out of the 170's by Valentine's Day
