Regarding the article about the dog, I have witnessed this first hand. My dog was put on a 2x-a-day low protein diet by the vet due to a problem she was having with the liver. She is totally obsessive about her food, always eager to gobble up anything and everything she can find. If it gets dropped on the floor, don't reach down to get it, you will most likely get bit (and she has bitten)! The majority of her life she had been allowed to graze. We would fill up her bowl when it was empty and she would eat as much as she wanted and was done, leaving food in the bowl. Until reading this article, I never realized this was feast or famine behavior she's been exhibiting since being on the diet. But it makes sense. It is amazing the amounts of food this dog can eat! (yeah, she gets scraps now, who can resist a beggin' pup?)
