Hello all ~ with Marie's encouragement ~ I'm back. And with Val and Mary's guidance in trying to understand these carbohydrates and make changes to my eating ~ I am hanging in there.
I haven't kept track exactly of my eating ~ just trying to make better choices more of the time.
I was feeling badly because I have such a hard time with my schedule fitting in exercise or my bike riding. But, with Val's encouragement ~ I put the pedometer back on and am giving myself credit for my steps. Val said she read that everything counts. I counted how many steps I could go in a minute, then divided my steps at the end of the day and found that I was making the equivalent of around an hours worth of steps (sometimes a little more ~ sometimes a little less). Then when I can ~ I have been walking in the evening a little bit.
I think that by converting those steps into minutes ~ it kind of gave me a new view and like I was actually doing something and was not just a big slug. And because I felt like those steps counted for something ~ I didn't feel like because I couldn't do the walking or biking as much as I hoped ~ that things weren't hopeless. I'm not in the league of some of the rest of you exercisers, but it is better than just sitting in the chair.
Here is my October so far then:
October
10-8-12 ~ bike riding 10 minutes
10-9-12 ~ bike riding 20 minutes
10-10-12 ~ 15 minutes walking
So sporadic with my exercising ~ oh well ~ I'll take any bit I do and be happy with it ~ even a little is more than just sitting there.
10-22-12 ~ wore pedometer ~ 6036 steps aproximately
10-23-12 ~ steps today (including a 15 minute walk) 7724 steps
10-24-12 ~ steps today (including a 15 minute walk) 9386 steps
10-25-12 ~ steps today (including a 15 minute walk) 8054 steps
10-26-12 ~ steps today 4084 ~ did not get in any extra walking
10-27-12 ~ steps today 6852 ~ was not able to do any extra walking
Happily ~ this moring when I stepped on the scale ~ I was down 3 pounds and get to change my ticker. Maybe there is hope
