hello.
this week has truly been something else. i've arrived home this evening to the news that one of my "teacher friends" from the old school has died. She fought liver cancer for 20 months..... her illness has been very difficult to watch.... Since I left that school, I've been sending her some sort of card each week.... I can't type anymore... I will check in over the weekend.... ginny, thank you for the mail! (I couldn't figure out WHO / WHAT! It was a very nice "pick me up" during a very yucky week!)
Ohhh, my best friend's daughter has gone to the hospital to have her baby.... I need to get off the phone! I hope that everyone is doing well.... Sorry for being so absent and self centered....

take care.

Oh my goodness Robyn. That is so awful to hear about your friend's passing. But atleast she is not suffering anymore and is in a better place. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your friend's family. So how is your best friend's daughter and baby? The circle of life goes on.
Ginny glad to hear that you got to enjoy some of your day off today. I got up this morning did the 2 mile Walk Strong video. Then my dh and I went out for a little bit. We went to lunch at Max and Erma's. Then came home to take a nap. Then this evening I went to Curves and worked out. So I have had a pretty good day off. Tomorrow I have an inservice all day long. So it should be boring but nice to be kidless again for the day. They have been wound for sound the last week or so. Glad to hear that you did not gain any weight this past week. Keep up the good work. So when does your mom have surgery again?
Mouse, you shouldn't let your ta make you feel guilty. You can not control when your appointments are going to take place. Keep you chin up and take time out from your busy schedule to workout and take care of youself. Don't go too insane with all that is going on over the next week or so.
Summer have you recovered from your weekend yet? Hope this week has been a good one for you.
Well I am going to go watch one of my favorite movies. It is on tv tonight. Talk to you all later.
Take care,
Kerry

Oh, Robyn. I am sorry to hear about your friend. I hope that her passing was quiet and peaceful, though.
I saw the surgeon today, and she does not want to do gallbladder surgery. She says I just don't have the symptoms that would require it to be removed. She's right, I don't except for the nausea and vomiting. She had another physician that is a part of the hospital she is with come down and meet me because he has an interest in endocrinology, and he said he saw a lot of physical symptoms of Cushings. But I've had lots of tests for that: the only thing that I haven't had done is a head CT/MRI. I don't EVER want another MRI. The CT scans aren't too bad.
They also suggested a complete genetic work-up to make sure there isn't anything there... but they don't think so because it would have shown up much sooner than it did. So, she is going to try and get me an appointment with a regular endocrinologist that is also with her hospital... My endocrinologist that I see now is a reproductive endocrinologist. Her training is really as a GYN, with a fellowship in infertility and reproductive endocrinology. She has done a lot for me that she shouldn't have had to do, because we haven't been able to get a regular endocrinologist to help me or take me as a patient. We've tried twice: once down in VA... and that doctor did the initial tests for Cushings and other endocrine disorders, but they were all negative. He put me on glucophage, as well, but when that made me so sick, he released me back to the reproductive endocrinologist. The second one was the one I've mentioned at the hospital that runs the children's hospital that I work for, and talked to my employer without my permission (yea, they talked to themselves, basically!) and never returned my phone calls.
So, I said I'd see this other endocrinologist. We'll see where that goes.
On school stuff: I don't WANT ANY MORE NEW STUDENTS! NO MORE! NONE! PLEASE!
We finally got the 50 we had settled into the new school year, and these new ones are just throwing things out of whack. I had one of my new kids who started last week elope from my classroom the last 2 days: today he did it twice in one day. Yesterday and the first time today, he hid in the stairwell. I don't do stairs very well: I can't go down at all, but I can go up slowly. I chased after the little brat today. After resource brought him back to class he lasted about 5 minutes. I went to get his work folder and he started telling me to "get off his folder" and not touch his stuff. I explained that I was getting his work. He didn't like that and started cursing me out. He had written all kinds of curse words over his folder. We asked him to go to resource again, and he flew out of the room and ran down the hall cursing the whole way. He was so loud that the lead teacher of the more restrictive program came down the hall (he thought it was one of HIS kids, because typically only his students act that way!). In fact, he tried to football tackle me in the hallway and kept screaming " the free world!" before they finally got him in the resource room.
That was 3rd period. 1st period I had one do a major emotional meltdown because he has been bringing his breakfast to class. For a long while, probably 2 weeks, he was just fine with it... but now he is perseverating on having the food nearby. And won't finish or throw it away. So, we have requested he not bring his breakfast with him anymore. He started crying and whining and finished up by banging his head very hard on the table. So I took him to resource. It was supposed to be self-help, because he was hurting himself. But he ran away from me in the hallway and screamed about how he hated me, and he hated my pants (), so another staff had to help me escort him.
I'm SOOOOO glad its Friday! The kids I teach swimming to aren't that bad!

Hi Ladies,
Well it is the weekend, thank God! Yesterday was a long day. I sat through the inservice and it really didn't pertain to me at all. I just felt like I was a warm body for their meeting. I was able to get my lesson plans done though for next week. I almost got into a fight with the one lady there. I asked that the 4th,5th and 6th grade teachers kept my class in mind for when they go on fieldtrips. I only have 7 kids and it is hard to get fieldtrips put together and approved for that small amount of students. She said that the old MH teacher always would go on the fieldtrips without being asked to go. I said that if I didn't know about the fieldtrip then how was I to just invite my class along. If another staff member hadn't spoke up on my behalf I might have said some nasty things to this lady in front of my boss. Then last night we took the kids and saw a rodeo. It was very cold. So today I have a headache, my back and ankle aches. I am in such a happy mood not.
Mouse, it sounds like you had a very trying day yesterday. I hope that your weekend is better than yesterday. I hope that doctor can help you. It sounds like they have your best interest at heart. Which is a great thing for a change.
Ginny sounds like you had a busy Friday. Hope you are able to rest a little this weekend and relax.
Hi Robyn and Summer. Hope you are enjoying your weekend.
Well I think I might try to go workout and maybe that will workout the pain in my back and ankle.
Talk to you all later.
Kerry

Good afternoon!!!!
Well, I survived yesterday........fell into bed last night and then had to face the music today, as we had Dd's birthday party today. OK, her actual bday is not until right before Christmas, so if you seriously look at a calendar, it becomes obvious that this is the least stressful time for us to have a kid party. All went well, the local community college offers pool parties- the kids swim for an hour and then they give you use of a classroom for an hour (you provide the food etc........) all for $50. And it is a very nice indoor pool. And my house did not get messy.......and I am glad it is over! Now lI have a headache and my asthma is acting up a wee bit......probably from the cold that I have been staving off for a few days. But, at least for now, the house is quiet...ah, it does feel nice. Dd is outside with her friends, Dh, Ds and Dd at a basketball game. This is delicious. Have not had the house to myself for what seems like years. (but, it is such a mess!!!!!!)

Kerry- sorry the inservice was so long and not pertinent. Well, at least you did get a lesson plan done- that should ease up the rest of the weekend for you I hope!!!! Warm up today, hopefully those aches from the cold last night will go away.

Mouse- good luck with the new endocrinologist........sounds as though you had an awful day with the students.....he did not like your pants????? (think I would be ready for a stiff drink after that one!)v Hope your swimming lesson went well...and that you can get some swimming time in for you too!

Robyn- so sorry about your friends passing. I remember when you started the new position you were concerned about leaving her. Were you able to get to a spend some time with your former coworkers to remember her???? Glad that the snail mail arrived......well, it did take me forever to mail it too!! Let me know if the stuff helps you at all.....ask any questions you might have. My advice would be to try one strategy that seems good for you......and come up with a game plan using it. They do work.

Summer- you missing in action???? Hope you are doing ok! We miss you.
Well, guess its time to go be productive........this is fun but does little to clean up my messy house. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
Ginny

I'm going to just post quick:
Sounds like you all have had interesting weekends. Me? I dont know what my problem is. The last 2 weeks or so, all I want to do it sleep. So I didn't go to the gym at all yet today. I'm going to leave NOW and then just stay for swim lessons.

Can I make a suggestion? Maybe we should start a "2nd quarter" edition? Since its not 'back to school' anymore.
