well good afternoon ladies,
I will try this again. I just had a semi long post I was working on when poof I pushed enter and it disappeared on my... so now to try and remember what I was saying. Fat chance of that happening. So I'll just wing it..
Jules, thanks for the song but I found one. It's call A song for my son, by Mikky Viereck and the words are :
I don't know where the time has gone, Since those little boy days
Doesn't seem that long yet here you are, it's your wedding day
And there's one thing darling I'l like to say:
Chorus:
Be kind, be sweet, be a gentle man
Care and share and always be fair
And remember though you now have taken a wife
You will always be my son, my loving son
You filled my life with so much joy
As I watched you grow from that little boy
Now Ill try not to cry
As you walk away
And just once more darling I'd like to say
chorus
It's sung two ways, I am going to get the country version. It's really quite pretty and makes me cry everytime I listen to it.
Connie, good luck with your surgery on the 20th. Just do what they tell you and get all the rest you can. Our prayers will be with you. Post when you feel better and let us know how you are doing.
Mindee, bet you had fun with the boys yesterday. Holidays are always fun when there are little ones around. I enjoyed watching my grandkids.
Marti, how is your walking coming along? I missed riding yesterday, company was coming and going all day, but I'll be riding again tonight and I did 8 miles on Saturday. Also I am getting more walking at work now.
Jane, are you all moved in? Did you take all your stuff with you or buy new? That would be such fun. Did you guys build from scratch or put up a pre finished house? I can't remember what you said.
You girls and your tatoos. I don't know how you can do that. My ds #3 has two of them. I told him not while he was under my roof, so as soon as he joined the Marine he got them. One is a yin yang on his shoulder, the other is a the Crow on his shoulder. My ds#4 had maroon hair when he was just out of high school and working at Wal mart. He came to breakfast one morning and his hair was the same color as his bathrobe. I looked at him and asked him if he went to bed with his hair wet? He said "no, why?" I said I thought your bathrobe ran. NOt another word...he kept it like that for about a year. then his brother got married in Calif. His dad told him if he wanted to go to the wedding, he had to go with natural hair... he's been natural ever since.. They all go thru something at one time or another. When you say blue hair I think of little old ladies with blue hair..
Well, I weighted in this morning as I do each morning and expected to see an increase but my scale was still at the same number. so yesterday didn't do any damage. I'm glad, now I can just carry on... I drank about 6 glasses of water today, so that is good. It is getting quite warm at work with all the sunshine. So I will be drinking more. Only thing is when it's so hot in the greenhouses we drink a lot but we don't have to use the potty, we just keep hydrated...
Ellen and Susan. tsk tsk tsk... putting off the weigh in...
Hi AngieOk, well I forgot most of what I was going to say in the first post but I seemed to have filled this one up pretty good. If I think of anything else I'll write more later.
Well, we have had plenty going on in our house! The boys had a great Easter! Logan had a blast with Tommy’s uncle. He had given Logan some of his scotch to help with his gums. It worked, because today looking in his mouth, his bottom gums are so swollen and it looks like four teeth are going to pop through. On the way over to his cousin’s house, Brandon was trying to get our attention. When we finally were able to look back, Logan’s car seat had some how come unbuckled and he was laying upside down on the floor while he was still in his car seat. So yesterday was not a good day for Logan. Saturday was not a good day for Brandon. He had fallen a couple times, and got a good boo boo.
We got back home yesterday because Brandon had his two year check up today. He is doing great! He is 30lbs. and 32 ¾ inches tall! The pediatrician was asking us how he was doing and what he was doing. We told her that he is into everything, and she said “good, then he is a normal two year old then.” She asked us if he was understanding what all we told him and we said yes. She asked how he was doing with learning things, and we told him that he is constantly picking up on things. She said “good, then his vocabulary will pick up in no time.” She told us to start teaching him colors, shapes, letters, numbers, and animal sounds. He will already point to body parts if you ask him. He won’t point to them on himself, but he will on who ever asks him.
Then we went to Wal-Mart to pick up some things. Brandon had gotten some birthday money, so I took him to see what he wanted to buy with it. He picked out a book called “It’s potty time” and it has a toilet that flushes on it. His pediatrician asked how he was doing with the potty and we told her that he will sit on it and if you ask him if he needs to go he will run to the bathroom. She said “that is great! Don’t try to push him on it though or you will end up with a toddler that wants nothing to do with potty training.”
We have to take Brandon back into the office next week in order for him to get a lead test. That can be done in the pediatrician’s office without an appointment, so we will be back there next week. I have to call the health department to make Logan an appointment to get his 4 month shots. I am hoping that I can get him in before we move.
Cristina~ Sorry about mentioning the “p” word. We are moving next week, so we more or less have to figure out what we are going to wear and what we are not so that we can “p” it. The weather has been nice. But now it is back to being regular Michigan weather.
Those tattoos are nice. I want another one but I am not sure what I want to get. I know that I need to add my grandpa’s initials to my one tattoo. Now, I am thinking of adding both Brandon and Logan’s initials to my other tattoo.
Ginny~ Brandon had a blast doing the egg hunt at my cousin-in-law’s house. Logan had more fun with my hubby’s uncle.
Good Evening Ladies ~ There is SO much to read here and keep track of. Cristina, I looked at that tattoo and it's very pretty! I have 4 tattoos, and people think that I would never be one to get them. Marti, thank you for the congrats on my weight. Well I had figured that the group probably did have a bio, but it's the way she came across. Oh well, it's done and I just passed on it. I love this website and I've been meeting lots of nice people. I hope all of you have a wonderful evening...
I'm new here ladies so I'm just trying to find out where I'm supposed to be and what's the most recent 'chit chat'. Is this one for Monday? Will we be on #180 tomorrow, Tuesday?
Not much to say yet - just looking around. See you all tomorrow.
Cristina--Is that the tattoo you have or one like you want?? Very pretty. I like the idea of a charm type anklet. (we're talking tattoos aren't we or is it an actual anklet?? Boy...I must be sleepy because I'm really confusing myself)
Ginny--I started doing my gazelle more so I haven't really paid too much attention to my walking. Next week I go to my new hours at work. Plan on going to the gym afterwards and start walking and doing weights! Really looking forward to that.
Mindee--Sounds like your boys had a great Easter. Lucky Logan didn't get hurt more w/the car seat not being buckled correctly. How scarey!
Michelle--Well too bad for the other thread for losing you and hurray for us!! I'm the same as you on tattoo's. People are always shocked when they see my tattoos. I don't display them. They just happen to see them when it's summer and I wear cooler clothes. May have to post a photo of one of them.
Eileen--Hello and Welcome!! This is the most recent chitchat. When the post reach up to 50 we close it and start a new one. It helps out the ones who have a hard time loading up the pages. Come join us when you get a chance and tell us more about yourself!
Hello and good morning to the rest of you!
I have a tiny NSV to share. Kind of silly but you know.....I walked away proud!
I really...and I mean REALLY wanted to have some chocolate from the vending machine today. Even had change in my pocket going" gingle lingle ling!" But I chose not to get any. And the change is still making music in my pocket!!
Pretty please w/myself! Takes little steps to get to where I want to be!
Ok...off I go to get some sleep! Pulled a muscle in my next and it aches!
Eileen, welcome. Glad to meet you and looking forward to getting to know you.
Marti, how long do you do your gazelle at night. I've been doing 45 minutes on my bike, but I think I may drop it to 30 for the next couple months, as I come home so tired already plus I'll be getting more exercise at work. How many miles do you do at a time?
Angie, how's it going? When is this show going to be happening that you are doing the costumes for?
Jules, how are the wedding plans coming along for you dd? The ones for my ds are falling into place nicely. You have a problem with your not so dh that is stressful, we have one with the bride to be's father too. Her parents are divorced and he is a real nut case. He has alienated himself from both girls and the bride to be won't be having him walk her down the aisle, she don't even care if he shows up,, but that is our fear. That he will show up and cause a scene or two...
Jane hope you had a nice Easter in your new house.
Christina, there must be a reason why you are to stay in your old house. Things usually happen for a reason. How is Josh doing? How did his knee ever turn out? My Josh's back is better. But the school he is interning at refuses to help with the medical expenses. They said they'd go broke if they had to insure all their interns, and the college he is attending that sends him out on these internships says the same thing.. it's a real racket.
Hello to Connie, Michelle, Mindee, Susan, Ellen, Katy and everyone else.
Is anyone here taking anything for prevention of bone loss, Like Actonel, Foxamas or any of those? If so, how do they make you feel? I too Actonel last year and it really made my esphogus act up so the doctor had me try Boniva, which you take once a month as Actonel is weekly. But just one pill of Boniva had me filled with hives for 2 and 1/2 months. So he put me back on Actonel and it's only 6 wks and I am having same problem.. just wondered if anyone else experienced this too.
Well, I suppose I better finish getting ready for work. Have a good day all and will check in later.
Ginny is there another med you can take,,,cause for sure i wouldn't want to be taking those...yikes. May 1st Aladdin opens up, right this week the cabaret opens,,,was there really late hanging lights.
Marti, I think thats a great that you can hold off temptation.... the ex should of known better to color her hair day before. But you will have pics to prove he wasn't thinking!
Eileen you are in the right place,,,as Marti said at 50 posts we go to the next number 180...but we will post telling you we have moved over.
Michelle, tell me again what you are doing to have lost 9 lbs? And how long have you been doing what ever you are doing ?
Connie, good luck with the surgery.
Christina, I love the heart tattoo, and the other one can be modified to what you want! I really like your idea of getting charms.
Jules,,,ya I have to go over and check out those quizzes,,,how is your allergies? Does antihistamines help? I still look like a bull dog,,,eyes are so itchy,,,grrr
anywho gotta take a bit of a nap before going to work
Ahhhh, GINNY...I like that song! And just when I found two for ya! I'll post them anyway. First one would be like from a mother to son and the second son to mother but both are nice.
The Man You've Become
Big wheels, hot wheels
Little trucks and cars
Skinned knees, climbing trees
Wishing on the stars
Moments may be lost somewhere in time
But the sweetest memories are never left behind
Now you've grown so fine
And come so far...
CHORUS
I'm so proud of who you are
The man you've become
Thrilled to share your deepest joy
To know you've found the one
For the great things you will do
I'll be blessed 'cause you're my son
But I'll always see the boy
In th man you've become
School days, sleep-aways
Driving all alone
Phone calls, shopping malls
Late coming home
It was hard to knwo when to let you spread your wings
When to let you go to face the challenges life brings
But you've grown so fine
And come so far...
CHORUS
Brought tears to my eyes hearing that one.
In Your Eyes
When I look back on my childhood days
I feel so blessed in so many ways
You gave your love with every smile
with every touch
Somehow I knew that you believed in me so much
In your eyes I'd see
A special love for me
In your heart, the trust, you gave so easily
All that you inspired
Kept me reaching higher
In your eyes I'd see
The man I was meant to be
A dream came true when she said I do
You smiled at her-itwas then I knew
That your blessing will be ours for all our lives
Your faith in us is shining in your eyes
CHORUS
You gave me roots that run so deep
You gave me wings to fly
I've never thanked you half enough
As the years went flying by...
CHORUS
Hey, maybe you can have two songs!
Anyway, gotta run real quick but wanted to post those for Ginny & son. I'll be back in an hour or so to do individuals.
Eileen ~ I'm new to this group, but EVERYONE here is SO nice and welcoming!
Hi Angie ~ I weighed myself and started my weight loss journey on 4-5-6. What I'm doing is logging all of my calories online, and I work out 6 days a week, in my own home, to ~Walk Away The Pounds~ by Leslie Sansone. I don't get bored with these dvds at all, because Leslie is so encouraging and motivating. Last year, before I had my hysterectomy, and then got lazy, I had lost 40 pounds in 3 months, and I was doing the same thing then. I hope this helps out some. If you have any more questions ~ just let me know. I hope everyone has a great day!!!
I forgot to ask ~ does any of you have an underactive thyroid? I was put on meds starting 14 years ago, and that's when my main weight problems started. I so hope that my girls don't inherit this thyroid problem, because it runs in my family and many family members are on meds for theirs also.
Just a note to tell you I'm back!! We're moved in... I'm totally exhaused, but everything looks nice. The internet guy was here today, and I get my tv satellite tomorrow. The telephone was supposed to be turned on yesterday, but because of some bad storms, the phone company is running behind. Thank goodness for cellies, right?
I'm headed off to read what you've all been up to while I've been unloading boxes. Hope you're all well and had a happy Easter.
I am sorry I went AWOL yesterday , I tried so many times to post , every time I would start , the phone would ring , the doorbell rang, the kids came separately, and at the end of it all I was to pooped to post I see everyone was chatting up a storm without me, funny how everyone comes out when I'm not here It is such a pretty day today, sun shining birds singing funny buzzing sound , oh wait that's in my head never mind. I see everyone had a wonderful Easter Weekend and that's great to hear.
EILEEN Looking forward to getting to know all about you.
HI GINNY..... Just to clear things up, I put off my weigh in for Susan's sake, out of the very goodness of my heart didn't sound much like her diet was in tact over the weekend I did have one small chocolate marshmallow easter egg , but I am pretty sure that didn't put to much of a dent in my diet. I have osteoporosis to Ginny I am still on HRT but that will end after the next two months. My doctor has been putting off ,putting me on some of those drugs , but once this course I have been on is over I know she will be prescribing one of them. I have heard of those side effects, and it always scares me to think what if I can't take them , what happens then. I hope your Dr. finds one that is compatible with your system I will let you know what happens when she starts me on one of them. I have a bone scan due, and I don't look forward to the results of those, I always continue to lose bone and it scares me, that I don't seem to be doing enough, even though I try. I am surprised to hear all the interest in the tattoo department, but no one commented about the tattoo I wanted to get I have no tattoo's just in case you wondered Glad to hear that you didn't do any damage on the scales , always a good feeling isn't it. I hope your having a wonderful day.
HI MARTI....CONGRATULATIONS , you won out over the vending machine, I know exactly how it went down to , he stood there standing tall and majestic, lights on , taunting ,laughing , pulling you in , just when he was sure he had you , you stuffed him , wait a go Marti Kids and their hair , mine went through more the blond highlights, which wasn't to bad, a few pink for my daughter, nothing I recall in the crayon colours though, although plenty of kids that came through my house did. never really bothered me much, things come and go , phases come and go, as long as they do eventually go. I do understand about the pictures though, but for her it will mark a phase in her life when she looks back and goes, I can't believe I actually dyed my hair blue and no doubt by them your will be a nice light shade of grey blue, and you will respond by saying, I think it looks nice dear I hope your having a nice day
HI MINDEE...Sounds like things are extremely busy at your house , so happy to hear everyone had a nice Easter. The boys sound like they are growing fast , are healthy , happy, and that's the most important thing. I hope you are having a great day.
HI CRISTI.... I don't blame you for wanting to stay if something doesn't happen soon, its really hard to have your life on hold for such a long period of time. The summer is coming and I am sure there are things you will want to do. Its not like you have to move right now anyway ,you have a beautiful house, and nothing might happen behind you for years. I know that what ever you decide , it will be the right decision for you and your family. Just think how much more relaxed your life would be without the constant intrusions I hope you are having a wonderful day
HI ANGIE JULES MICHELLE JANE KATY, CONNIE I WILL BE BACK IN A BIT TO CATCH UP WITH EVERYONE, MY TUMMY IS A GROWLING SO I BEST GO AND TAME THE BEAST HOPE YOUR ALL HAVING THE BESTEST DAY
I was sick yesterday. Must have been something I ate - haha. So, sick. I was in bed most of the day until 3 pm when I remembered VV and had to get tp the 50% sale.
Gaby and I went and I picked up some cute sweaters for her. I didn't even look for myself because looked like most of it had been picked over and I was weak and about to faint. What I do for that girl. She saw a 7-11 and of course we have to stop for a slurpee all the hot dogs on display made me wanna barf. Gaby sipped on the slurpee at VV and gave me the rest, so I sipped on that. Course I should have realized she wasn't done with it and started howling when she realized I finished it off. *sigh* so back to 7-11 we went........by now I am about to pass out. Sheesh.....
Went and paid my power bill and picked up some soup for dinner. Went home and did a load of laundry. Had the soup and Gaby and I went to bed. lol
I woke up at 11 pm and went and finished the laundry.
Anyway, that was my day yesterday.
I still haven't gotten my shoes, I will today or tomorrow. I just haven't had time!!!! Get off my back Ang!!! lol
Marti- The girls thought I would take them shopping because thier dad said I would. He always thinks I have money and no bills to pay. lol I hate when he does that. I bought Rach a $28 tee shirt and Urban Outfitters . Stupid.....Gab and I get everything from VV or Goodwill - the girls have to go to the mall. Rach didn't go to school today becasue she had no clothes to wear. Which is BS, she has a whole stack of jeans and tops.
anyway, now I am steaming, I better get to work....lol
Ginny--my DD is sadly getting divorced not married & here's hoping that DS porposes to his wonderful girlfriend!! What a nice song you picked and that Christine found you another good one
Katy---I just went to the www.abc.com website and did a search for the DH character quiz---it says that I am Edie!!!! Yikes way worse than your being a Susan or your fear of being a Meredith!!!!
Angie--Thankfully the leaves are all almost on the trees so I am getting better--still have the puffy eyes and sneezing once in awhile.
Mindee--I miss having young ones around!!
Michelle & Eileen--welcome to both of you!!
Marti--NSV are just as important and don't you forget it--changing habits and overcoming the tempatations are what give us the other!! People are shocked that I have tattoos too.
Jane--Welcome back
Ellen---You are so loved--everyone misses you and your colorful clipart!! Your posts always make me smile!!
Susan--my DS was a goodwill/thrift shop buyer and DD is a clothes horse that never has anything to wear!!! She still is saying she needs to go through her stuff again when she gets time--she's not taking any summer courses to give her self some peace with the impending divorce-work-school she hasn't had much!! Give the maintenance guy a wink for me!!!
Susan--You and Ellen posted at the same time...so she's been here w/you the whole time. I have talked about discounts and clearance sales so much, that when Jhanai and I go shopping.....she's always keeping an eye out for me!! She's the one that told me about the going out of business sale at Meyer and Franks!
Ellen--So funny.....you described the vending machine perfectly! About the hair...that's exactly what I'm thinking "a marking of a phase in her little life" She's had her hair weaved before w/lots of pretty blonde. I love it when she had that done! Who knows what will be next.
Jane--So glad to hear that you're moved in!! Go relax, have some coffee, do what you gotta do and when you get a chance, come back and tell us all about it!
Michelle--Sounds like you're on the right road to success!! Sometimes, at least for me, after trying out all the other things that out there, doing my own thing is what helps me lose weight the most. I'm going to join the rest of the gals and WI on monday and see how "my" thing is working! My thing consist of working out more, drinking so much water that it's hard to sleep all the way through the night and eat sensibly. Not too drastic......so my weight may not move!
Cristina--Those are very touching songs!!! What about ones for daughters since I don't have a son??? Ok, so I don't have a wedding to plan, but a song would be nice anyway. Doesn't Martina McBride have one? (is that her name??? )
Angie--I had to laugh at your description of how you look! I don't think anyone has ever described themselves as a bulldog when allergies are taking over! Are you part of Alladin?? Are you getting ready for the mad dashes to get costumes ready and the hair just so?? Boy....all this talking has my exhausted already!! Still want to see your costumes up close!!
Ginny--I do my gazelle in the afternoon before work. I usually get on there for half an hour. Sometimes I'll go longer but never less. I'll stay on it longer than 30mins if I don't feel like I've really worked up a sweat. 30mins usually give me about 2.5 miles. So it work for me. Plan on getting in the gym after work sometime when my hours change. Need to figure out a schedule for myself on that.
Jules--Allergies are just awful!! I used to get them really bad. Always looked like I had a fight and had been crying my eyes out!! Not pretty! Hope they ease up soon!!
Hello to everyone else out there!!
Speaking of Gazelles....its time for me to hop on there and get my 30mins in!
Sun is shining...for who knows how long....so I'm going to soak it up by the window and get moving.
