I don't really remember a lot about it, but the fan is probably trying to cool the oven down if it is still going after you turn it off. I do remember it stayed hot for a while after shutting it off though!!

Default I've been flung TO....and it's a GOOD thing!

Well, after nearly a year, I decided to open up my late grandma's steamer trunk. (This was part of my flinging sequence....I had flung a lot in the last couple of days and thought "well, who knows what's in here...possibly more to fling.")

Instead, I am now the proud owner of MANY newspapers. And what newspapers they are. About a foot high! They are originals, some of them the LA Herald Examiner, and some of the subjects are:

* Pearl Harbor being bombed
* Lindbergh's baby being kidnapped (and later found dead)
* Dionne Quintuplets stuff
* Some WWI stuff
* Lots of WWII things...fall of Manila, Bastogne, etc.

Anyway, I am one tickled gal who definitely inherited grandma's genes: I have an almost complete collection of LIFE magazines from 1937 to 1972.

We newshounds and morbid types (other papers included airplane crashes, floods, ship disasters---I definitely come by my depression and morbidity honestly ) are suckers for historical stuff like this.

So I feel like I hit the motherlode, even though it means MORE paper at my house!

Oh, Megan! I am SO envious! What a rich haul! You do realize that, unless you limit yourself to about one a day, you're in serious danger of sinking into an abyss.

Thanks for the info, Den! I think I "get it" now.

Ellis, I knew we were peas in a pod from my first day in here.

I just took a stack in for "show and tell" at my psychiatrist's office today. He was drooling too.

My favorite thing so far (outside of the headlines), is one Pearl-Harbor-week blurb suggesting that when the powers that be get over the immediate crisis, that they turn their thoughts to another one percolating:

Young ladies at fashionable colleges in the East were complaining that it seemed whenever "nice young Privates" asked them to dance, their Sergeants would swoop down and cut in---and that due to some written or unwritten rule--the PFCs couldn't ask the same lady to dance again. And the girls were Pi_ _ ed!

Two weeks ago or so we did s superfling! Like you wouldn't believe. My brother in law moved in with us so we had an entire room of crapola that had to be gone through and redistributed and luckily most of it went out to the crapper where it belonged.
I superflung paperwork and we even have a file cabinet finally. No more 5 years of useless paystubs from old jobs or bills from companies we don't even go through anymore. Hurray!
The room is now emptied of all our stuff. We cleaned out the garage, gave my folks back a bunch of their stuff so they can sell it and got rid of 3 bags and a box full of old clothes. We were on fire!
I even took care of this old project. When my grandma went missing/died/disappeared into the ether or whatever she did I inherited a bunch of her cross stitch stuff because i also enjoy cross stitch. It's been sitting in a bag for almost a year in my closet. I cleaned through it, organized the threads and got everything ready to actually be used. YAY me.
It's been a productive season so far for us. Now, if only I could get my husband to do the damn dishes....

Holy, Lizzie! You GO girl!! Talk about a whirlwind...

I got rid of a couple more bags of stuff for the Sally Anne the other day. Yesterday I was looking around the house and thinking, "Give me a match and I'll start afresh." It IS a mess in here because of the kitchen renovation, but I'm going to be SO organized when it's all over. knock on wood

I managed to re-organize my office bookcases and table and desk and flinged a recycle bin full of papers. Plus I got 6 boxes of stuff priced for the yard sale, plus got my FeeBaY stuff separated for Christmas sales. YAY!! Now I need to tackle the closet.

Good going Noodles!

I threw out 3 recycle bins full of old magazine clippings (recipes I never made ), old magazines, old textbooks and papers. Also flung some home decor stuff that I have outgrown taste wise or won't fit into the new place - I put it down in the laundry room so the other tenant's can have it.

Whoohoo! Less stuff to pack and move!

I have a bunch of health, fitness, rolling stone, etc magazines around here...Do you girls know of a good place that would take these or should I just recycle them?? I feel guilty just recycling them when I think someone else could benefit from them.

Noodles, I take my exercise mags to the Y and leave them in the bicycle section. (there's already a newspaper rack) People there are often looking for something to read while they cycle.

I sometimes donate them to the local library - they either use them in the library or in sell them in their used book store and the proceeds go to buy new books for the library. I also bring them in to my office or leave them down in the laundry room for the rest of the tenants to read while doing laundry.

ellis - leaving them for others at the gym is a great idea!

I flung my kids school uniforms. They attend a school that doesn't have a uniform policy so I donated about 16 white shirts, 3 dresses, a skirt and 9 pairs of pants. Makes for more small hangers for DD and more closet space for both. Too bad I have to fill the space right back up with regular clothes.

Tiki.
