Bargoo- Congrats on the new addition in the family =]
Mindi- That really sucks about the baby shower. I hope things turn out much better than they are currently sounding! Got the nursery set up and ready to go! It was the first thing we did when we finally started getting the rooms cleaned and put together. everything else is still a work in progress. DF told me he actually admires that I still help even though i'm in soo much pain and he's glad I don't use pregnancy as an excuse to get out of doing anything and everything like the women in his family do. Felt weird for him to actually acknowledge something to do with the pregnancy itself. Baby A is healthy, measuring a bit big with a heartrate around 157 beats per minute. I forgot to ask what my fundal height was this appointment because I got to talking with my doctor about other things. He's been super active today as well. The thought of labor really scares me as I have no idea what to really expect. As I get closer, I get more nervous and nothing eases my mind :?: |
I'm having the shower from **** apparently. I got a copy do the invite well after they went out...apparently someone came up with the idea of a money tree. Research online said its "ok" if it isn't the only option...but I don't like the idea at all. DHs granny called and is horrified by it and doesn't even want to come now. I wish they'd asked me...I'm SO embarrassed!
|
Can't sleep for crap tonight but felt baby boy have the hiccups for the first time tonight!!!! I guess good things come out of insomnia.

Hi everyone.
Scary day yesterday. My indoor cat Figured out we're trying to put her outside (Because she's beating up my 15 year old cat for run of the house , and marking everywhere and that's a big no, no) so after Dh failed to corner her I wandered by and picked her up. She hates people and never lets Dh within five feet of her, but she'll let me pet her but never pick her up. So she mauled me. Right hand and wrist is shreded. Lots of shallow scratches, some deep bites. some scratches on my left arm. Bleed like never before. Dh has never seen me bleed like that (and he hates other people's blood) I'm so glad the cat ran and hid as soon as I dropped her because he totally would of killed her. I've never seen him so pissed. @.@ Washed and cleaned the cuts and I have a Dr. appointment today anyways so I'll have them looked at. Needless to say the cat is still in the house, and wont let anyone anywhere close to her. we'll have to figure out a way to get her out. because she's still beating up my old baby. >.< |
I'm so sorry, Sakai! That's scary!
I'm just a hormonal mess today. My mother is making my life **** and schoolwork feels overwhelming today. I just want to sleep but can't. |
That is scary, Sakai!!!
Sorry you're having a bad day, Racrane.... :( |
Yikes, Sakai!
Unfortunately, one of our two cats passed away yesterday afternoon. I'm running on almost no sleep and have a migraine from crying. I need to eat something but stress and upset make me super duper nauseous, so I haven't been able to yet. On the plus side, my FILs were up this weekend and we got the nursery finished. It looks adorable. But it's hard to appreciate it when I'm so sad. |
Awww...so sorry about your cat, Amanda!!! I bet that's rough, and even worse with pregnancy hormones involved! :(
|
I am sorry about the loss of your cat Mandalinn
Saki - Super scary. I had a cat bite through my finger once and had to have a tetanus shot. Racrane - Sorry you are having a bad day :( Must be something in the air. I just feel cranky, tired and achy today. |
I'm so sorry you lost your cat! :( That's awful
|
Help!
:o I have really bad itching "Down there." For the past three days. It came and went the past two days but it was so bad today i could hardly sleep. it's driving me nuts. I read that itching there is common in pregnancy due to changing PH. has anyone had this before? I'm not having any discharge (which I've had almost constantly since i got pregnant) so i don't think it's a yeast infection. I've had a yeast infection before and I never had any itching with it. I hear a bath with baking soda might help? ARG! it's killing me! I also started a round of antibiotics(sp) for my cat bites. my Dr. just wanted to be safe. I didn't ask about the itching because it was just a little tingle that day that went away after a few minutes...now it's just constant. Any advice? |
I would say just call your doctor. It could very well be from the antibiotics. As for relief, I don't know. I hope it gets better, though!
|
So ready for this baby to be here already! The pelvic pain is to a point that I can barely walk without at least wanting to cry. It takes me a good ten minutes to walk to my kitchen- ten feet from the couch. And sleeping in bed is out of the question since I can no longer roll over or sleep on my stomach.
My doctor is pissing me off and won't do anything about it and instead says "lets keep pushing for full term then we can do something" when he can induce me. I can barely walk to class each day as it is, I don't know how much longer I can deal with this. I mean, can't we at least try muscle relaxers or something? UGH! Nothing they've suggested helps- Belts, yoga balls, heating pad, ice, baths. I don't know what else to do. Sakai- Scary about the cat. I know that theres anti-itch creams made by monistat in the feminine care aisles near yeast infection stuff. You could try that but definitely talk to your doctor as it could be from the medicine. Mindi- Whats a money tree shower? No gifts allowed except money? I've never even heard of it! Manda- Sorry about your cat =[ But yay for finishing the nursery! Racrane- Hope you've had some better past couple of days =] |
Keller, it stinks about all the pain!! :( Only a couple more weeks though, or are they considering 37 weeks full term for you? I've heard 36 and then 37....
Yeah, apparently some people have showers where they request NO gifts, and ONLY have a money tree set up for donations. Mine, at least, has a registry listed with a money tree as an option. Still... I think people have calmed down a little bit about it. So hopefully it'll go ok. |
Mindi- 37 is full term but he wants to push to 38. Baby boy is already measuring big and in position for birth so he thinks if i hold off that extra week that he will come on his own but I just can't do it physically- unless of course he refuses inducing in which case he said I'd be on bed rest. I have an appt a week from Monday at 36 weeks 2 days to check dilation and see. Hopefully I get good news that day. I can't see why he would hold off to induce since baby boy is healthy though
|
Right...if he's healthy and you're close enough, then surely he'll go on ahead??
|
That's what I'm hoping but I really don't know. Because the pain/pelvis bone has no direct effect on baby boy then its not technically "m/edically necessary" to induce.
For the last three months its been that he'll induce and as soon as I'm full term, baby is coming. But now its always "lets see where we are at term." I just don't understand why he's now pushing it off as if its completely normal when the whole time it was options of things to try(except medicene). Im completely against our er- but if it takes having to go because I can't walk before he will take it serious, I might go. Df tries to get me to go at least three times a week anyways because I just lay here and cry half the time when I try to move. I'm just so fed up. I guess on the bright side- our baby shower/lunch BBQ is a week from today. Quite excited to see all my family. Dfs family/parents have never met anyone in mine though so I'm praying for no drama. I told Df that if anything goes down- that I will leave. I don't want to deal with anything at this point. |
Hey all....I started the alternative IP diet in Sept of '10. I lost around 70 lbs and was super happy! I started maintenance and gained back around 12 lbs...still super happy. I am currently 23 weeks pregnant and watching that damn scale slide back up is PAINFUL!
I am looking for recommendations on general eating to help ease the pain of all of this! I know I need a certain amount of calories/carbs...but what is reasonable? Suggestions? |
Keller- I don't see the point in waiting any longer if the baby is healthy and ready to go. The stress on you isn't gonna help the baby any. Hoppefully the Dr. can see this logic.
As for me....it's a yeast infection..second one ever...>.< I know I can treat it with creams but ever site i went to said that i should go see my Dr. because it's the first yeast infection during pregnancy. ugh. i didn't think it was because the discharge looked like it has for forever....until today...So i get to deal with it for one more day and hopefully i can slide right into the Dr office tomorrow....Or maybe I can talk with her over the phone. I'm just ready for it to go awa and hopefully stay away. Wyoangel- In "You, Having a baby" (co-written by Dr. Oz) says that a woman should eat 100 calories more that maintenance pre trimester. So if your are in the 2nd trimester... you should eat 200 calories more than you need to keep your weight steady..(easier said than done for some of us >.<) |

Wyo- My doctor told me 200-300 more than I would normally eat. It's hard to do though when you're always hungry! http://www.drbrewerpregnancydiet.com/id96.html is a link to a pregnancy diet. It's not a weight loss one- but rather what you need in order to maintain healthy eating for you and baby. Some women gain, some lose and some actually maintain.
DF is sick and crabby and has been for three days now. All he wants to do is sleep and I really want to finish getting the house together, pictures up etc. He isn't worried because I already put Baby A's room together. I wish I could do something other than sit on the couch. I feel like a disabled old woman!!! I'm attaching a picture. 34 Weeks 5 days. I feel huge. (Keeping in mind that I have DDD size boobs now and my stomach is still that much bigger!) But He dropped and stayed down around 32 weeks. |
Sakai: I had my first one EVER during pregnancy (though I think I have actually had one before but never really treated it). It's better to talk to your dr instead of using OTC creams because I don't know that all of them are safe for adorable preggo women like ourselves. I actually went to the ER because I had cramping AND the yeast infection symptoms, but I thought it meant something bad. No, just meant I had a yeast infection and that I also happened to have stomach cramps really bad that day.
FINALLY get my ultrasound tomorrow! Taking my friend and her son to the doctor then bringing them both with me to the ultrasound :) Everyone will probably think he's mine (because he looks a lot like me... and he loves DF soooo much! LOL) |
I am very excited for Thursday since we're going in for our 20 week ultrasound and get to find out the gender. I'm such a curious person, I like to know. :)
|
Yay for ultrasounds!!! :) I'm excited for y'all! And fingers crossed that you get answers on the gender, Racrane! My little one didn't cooperate AT ALL, and will therefore be grounded from birth :)
So I'm 33 weeks today. Kinda crazy. I was just walking through the house yesterday and thinking, and it hit me...in theory, I could have a baby sometime this month!! I'm just so very blessed and happy that I've been free (so far) of the complications other women in a May Due Date Club I'm part of online have had. So many of them are on bed rest, or have had MASSIVE braxton hicks contractions and bleeding. Three are in serious danger of having premies in the next few weeks. It's been a boring pregnancy for me so far....and fingers crossed that my lack of excitement continues! |
Mindi: I hope that the lack of excitement continues for your pregnancy too ;-)
Racrane: OMGGGGGGGGG that is exciting! Everyone keeps asking gender/name(s) and we keep smiling and saying we won't know the gender until after the baby is delivered, and that we will announce the name of the child upon birth! I can tell people who are very detail oriented and people who are very need-to-know and people who plan well just by the reason(s) they give for wanting to know the baby's gender :) Announced on FB (on April Fools Day!) that I was having a baby. No one believed me until my aunt congratulated me. Then people were wondering if she was in on some elaborate hoax... :) Re-announced on Monday, and then people were pretty much taking bets on if I was trying to extend the joke. Today, I posted ultrasound pictures to quiet the haters :) Ultrasound today was AWESOME! Seems like the baby is perfectly content still being shy! He/she likes to lay with its spine and butt on my back. Which is funny, because that's how I lay next to DF at night. ;-) Did get some hilarious pictures though, one where you can see the entire skull very well (we call it "Skeletor") and another one (which they didn't capture) where she/he is on the side with her/his mouth open like a velociraptor. WISH they could have gotten a pic of that! The ultrasound tech was funny because she explained EVERY MEASUREMENT IN DETAIL! Like I said, some people are detail oriented, she is or she caters to those who are. Talked to the doctor about 95% in Spanish (which was cool, didn't know if he knew it but completely blew me away! AND he was teaching his resident Spanish at the SAME TIME!) and even though the nurse (and previous doctor) thought I was about 22 weeks, ultrasound measurements lend themselves more toward 19 weeks. WOOT! (I guessed I wasn't as far along as 22, I get excited when I know as much as/more than medical professionals whose supervision I am under!) In the not-so-fun news, I got rid of the double ear infection but picked up a bladder infection. I think I know everyone at the pharmacy now! Also my friend and I (and her 1 year old son, who is SO CUTE!) met some super adorable pregnant girls at the ultrasound office today. One super cute couple who went in right after I did, momma is about my age and she's 28 weeks. Her and her hubby came out of our room right before I did and he had a pocket full of ultrasound pictures! He showed us about 1/3 of them and then gushed about having a little girl! I love it when super macho guys have babies and then get all cute and misty eyed ;-) Makes me excited to go to new parent/birthing classes and meet more adorable couples! DF will be so mellow but I know he's secretly excited. Held our friends' one-week-old baby yesterday (he and I both) and DF was smiling ear to ear :-) :-) :-) :-) Here's a question for everyone... when the babies start being born, can/will we post pictures of our little ones? (Hope it's okay to post an ultrasound pic!) |
I hope it's ok, Biancasimone...because I'm gonna post a pic of my baby!!! :)
|
I hope to post pics of mine as well. ^.^
I'm getting the yeast infection under control (hopefully) I'm also starting to get nervious about labor. I mean before I was just scared and then got over it. But now it's starting to come back as this belly of mine gets bigger and bigger. "Just how is she supposed to come out??" Everyone keeps asking me if I'm getting nervious yet and I think that alone is what's making me nervious. Though at the moment I'm more nervious about getting my cavity filled later on this month. Somedays I'm fine, I'm about to have a baby, it can't be so bad... other days I'm like "omg I don't want a shot in the mouth, I don't wanna go!" I'm such a wuss when it comes to needles. -.-; I hope they use that numbing gel before they give me the shot. |
I'm a big baby at the dentist too, Sakai. Like to the point where if it's anything more extensive than a check-up, cleaning or minor filling they have to sedate me. I had to have a filling during my second trimester, and I'm sure I'll have to have some more after my next check up. My teeth SUCK even though I take obsessive care of them.
|
Sakai: I'm terrible at the dentist, too. I whimper at the slightest thing and I'm sure the dentist thinks I'm a complete wimp. My boyfriend's mother also told me her personal labour horror story about how she almost died giving birth to his oldest sister. I really didn't want to hear that because now I'm so worried about labour! Anyway, I suppose all we can do is try to focus on giving birth to a healthy baby and letting the rest take care of itself.
Thanks Bianca. :) I love ultrasounds, too. I'm glad you had a good experience! I'm so excited for tomorrow, I can't concentrate on today. I'm thinking of drinking a little soda (no more than half a can?) for tomorrow. The baby is always really quiet in the morning and last time the woman had to poke my belly for 30 minutes to get the baby to wake up and move. I'm hoping the baby will be awake. (Is it odd that I'm already starting to pick up the baby's movement patterns? Baby is quiet until 2 in the afternoon then I feel random pokes and jabs until 6. Then quiet until midnight. Is that normal?) I hope everyone's infections go away! |
Racrane- its not unusual to be aware of the patterns of baby but they may not be consistent either. Baby boy didn't really start kicking til 21 weeks and hasn't stopped since.
Bianca- i will be posting pics as well :) I feel like you guys are my sidekicks throughout the pregnancy so it wouldn't feel right not to share a picture! I'm glad the ultrasound went so well. That's my favorite part besides feeling movement. I'm with all of you and I'm a baby to. I had my first cavity filled around 15 weeks and I freaked out and even "rescheduled because I was busy." Agh! Needles don't scare me but in my mouth is a whole different story. And I don't like my dentist which doesn't help but nobody is ever accepting new patients around here. I just want to crawl in bed and sleep all day. Today sucks! |
^.^ glad to see I'm not the only wimp when it comes to the dentist. I'm normally fine because it's been like 19 years from the last time I had a cavity. I'm so used to having nothing but perfect teeth. I had perfect teeth 6 months ago when I went to my last check-up. But I know pregnancy can screw with your teeth badly.
racrane- though i was near 24 weeks before i could feel the baby move, it's not until about 2-3 weeks ago. (28 weeks) that I notice a pattern. She moves everytime I eat, or kick back on the sofa or bed. She also moves lots when I'm sleeping. Which is starting to wake me up because she figures she wants to river dance while I'm trying to get some much needed Zzz's Baby's kicks are getting much harder too. I wince, jump and yelp here and there, much to Dh's amusment. She always goes for the kidney way in the back on the right side and always when I'm eating. Right now she was kicking me in the same spot on the belly for the past hour and it was starting to hurt, like someone constantly jabbing at a bruse kind of feeling. She only just now stopped. @.@ |
Sorry for being so absent! It is MADNESS around here. We have houseguests from DC out for the week, work is insane, and our baby shower is this Saturday. I'm trying to think about how blessed we are, instead of being stressed about all of the people and mess.
6 weeks to go as of today. Getting so close! |
VERY close, Amanda!! I'll be full term in three weeks. Just crazy to think that the baby could, in theory, come any time after that. Wow.
|
Its crazy how close we all are. Ill be full term in a week. Its a scary thought!
|
Oh, I've got a doctor's appointment tomorrow. Close to the end of my 33rd week. Surely he'll put me on appointments every other week? If not, then it's four weeks and I'll be 37 weeks when I see him again. I'm writing down a BIG list of questions to ask him, just in case that's the way it is. Could be the last time I see him before she comes, if she comes at 36 or 37 weeks....
|
Mindi- Way to be proactive!!!! Your doctor seems a bit behind. I was switched to 2 week appointments at 28 weeks and I begin weekly this week at 35, It doesn't make sense that he wouldn't switch you.
Can't sleep tonight. Woke up to baby boys head directly in my pelvis and contractions. The contractions have stopped for now but have been around more frequently. DF told me that he thinks baby boy is ready to come out because how low he is and how much pain i've been in. TMI naybe but It even hurts to have sex now- which my doctor said is probably because cervix is opened up a bit. I have no clue. Baby Shower tomorrow. Doctor appointment Monday. Have a great Friday everyone =] |
The only reason I can think of for him not putting me on appointments every other week is because I've had like zero complications so far. But still...if he says another four weeks from today, then I'll be past the point to do a lot of stuff. He said he wants another sonogram around 34 or 35 weeks to make sure she has turned. So it makes sense for an appointment two weeks from now.
We'll see...I go at 9:30 |
Keller: LOL I love that "pregnancy sidekicks" ;-)
You ladies ALL ROCK :) I'm only halfway there, totally excited for you Spring Mamas who are about to be full term! I'm just barely a Summer Mama... and of course my baby will be arriving in the HOTTEST PART OF THE YEAR (August)... I plan on making lots of maxi dresses in the near future! I doubt I'd feel like wearing anything anyway ;-) |
Keller - we're baby shower date buddies! I finally found something to wear that doesn't make me feel like a house. So that's something!
I am trying not to panic about the state my house is in. So many houseguests, and the shower is tomorrow. But I took some maternity shots yesterday, which did turn out pretty well - if I get the nerve, I'll post them. On the negative side, oy, my back, my hips!! |
Manda- with 75 degree weather for a month now, mine will be an out BBQ/hangout more so than games so there is no cleaning or anything to do. Were gonna do rye dye instead. Df wanted to be involved so that's why but just means i don't have to do a thing!!! My dads grilling n setting up and a couple of sibs will take it all down. I don't thinknid be much help anyways with my big belly hitting everything. I bought a flowy but still fitted dress to wear. Glad u got something u like!
|
I just wanted to let everyone know it's a boy. :) And a very proud one at that. He was more than happy to show off and kept his legs wide open, lol. The ultrasound was wonderful and now I'm very happy that all is going well.
