The pain is in the upper right quadrant, right under the ribs, more to the side than the front. Kinda 'caddy corner' on my body if that makes sense... It comes and goes. It is usually a dull but strong pain that comes in waves. It generally is a come and go thing for a few days, then I feel nothing for a while. It isn't as common as it used to be. I had much stronger pain a year ago and I quit glucophage and it went down, and then I quit an antibiotic cream I used on my face and it went down some more- but that may have been a coincidence. I've also had a pain in my upper left, but that wasn't too common or strong.
We have a sub forum now in PCOS called PCOS articles. If you look on the main PCOS page, there is a link to it on the top. Right now it is empty, but Noodles and I will be posting some things in there in the days to come. I'm not sure, but I think the Sticky articles that are on the main forum right now will be moved there. If anybody has articles of their own they would like to post, please do! Don't forget to tell where you got the info from since it is probably all copyrighted work.
I have never really used Splenda or aspartame. Do you think they are harmful? I guess they have been around long enough and have had long term testing. Any thoughts?
Jenaya: I use Stevia in liquid form. It's good for baking and on cereal. Powerful, too, 2 drops does it for one cup of cereal and one cup of skim milk. Doesn't have as much of a bitter aftertaste, and doesn't give me a migraine like Aspartame does. I got it in the "health food" section at the grocery store.
Thanks for the Stevia tip, I just went to the store and bought some. I am not sure if there has been any long term studies on it but sounds natural enough. Jennifer, yukky pain, and so concentrated in the liver region. I thought I may have some words of wisdom but I don't, glad that the occurence of it is decreasing. I think I told you my internist felt very strongly that the fat in the liver would disappear with weight loss - here is hoping. Have you had a scan since you've lost weight? Some articles say it will go away, some say it won't. Some Dr's say it will go away and others don't - so I guess with that being said I will just have to see when I get there.
Noodles CONGRATS on the 175. You just keeping jumping on and off that scale girl - look at it a million times a time if you need to, it is wonderful incentive for you and a real reward for all of your hard work. Thanks for your offers of encouragement, I appreciated them and I need them.
!! It refuses to go down any more pounds though. Course it doesn't help matters when hubby brings home a container of cookies that are 110 calories EACH! But I have been a good girl and I am only eating 1 a day.

So, if you are in warm climate - soak it up and send some my direction. I know - it is a choice, Arizona's calling my name!
Hehehe you might be surprised, there are jump teams all over the USA and world!! Just think of them double dutch people you see in the street and go from there. We have it all!! Speed, Compulsory, Freestyle, Doubles, Team, etc. It's really exciting to watch when you get the experienced jumpers in there doing back flips, splits, etc. among 2 ropes!! It's hard to judge when these kids do speed and go 300 jumps a minute with a single rope!! I get a sore finger!! I use a clicker-counter thingy and I have to count each jump. After a few of those kids jump, you develop a small callous. hahahaha!!
Ok, sending sunshine your direction since we got enough of it!! It's going to be in the low 90°s here all week!! Arizona IS calling your name...lottsa jobs here...cheap housing, clean air, and contrary to popular belief, it IS a green desert. With beautiful Saguaro Cacti!! Even in May and June when its over 100° the cacti around here stay green. Course...that's the ONLY thing that stays green without watering it. hahahaha! The rest I have to water or it all wilts away dead.
Since I mentioned the Saguaro Cacti, I thought I better post a few photos for you all so you can see what they look like. They're Arizona's trademark and the state flower grows on them as well...
Ooooh, okay, here I come Atlas Vans on route...the cactus is very beautiful. The only thing I can see that is green today is, hmmmmm, well - I guess it would be my shirt because it is St. Patrick's Day! However, the snow is melting and we are able to get outside for a few walks. It is plus 2 today - wahoo! With any luck we will reach 5 by the weekend. I don't know if I could handle full time heat - I always feel sick in the heat (because I have too much insulation!). But, it is very tempting!!
I loved the pics though - thank you for posting. Perhaps that 175 isn't budging because your body just wants to feel great hanging around at this new number. It will come and good for you 1 cookie a day - I am not at that point in my process yet - the tub would have been gone 20 seconds upon entering the house.
Hello all!!! How are you doing??? The last few days have been a rollercoaster here.
Jennifer: I, too, suffer from liver pain. I thought it was my appendix at one point and that is how they discovered the fatty liver. I only get pains when I eat a high carb meal. Go figure. That is why they decided to move me to low carb. I was gaining weight and having horrid pains on low cal, low fat, high carb. Now I feel pretty good.
Janaya: I was told weight loss and exercise is the way to go along with drinking tons of water. Essentially what happens is that the weight loss allows your fat another place to go (if you ever gain again) other than your liver. If you can manage to keep at your proper weight for six months or more and not drink alcohol, your liver will actually start to heal itself. This entire process can take anywhere from 6-24 months to get a significant fat loss. My endo and GP believe that people can control fatty liver to the point that their liver is healthy again after 2 years. I believe them probably because I want to believe!!! It is proven that the liver can regenerate and like your lungs, if you stop "abusing" them with whatever substance hurts it (be it alcohol, etc) before it gets past the point of no return, you can "get rid of" the fatty liver. They also told me that anything that causes weight gain be it by ones own hand, pregnancy, etc carries higher risks. So if I were to lose my weight and have another baby, I'd be deemed "high risk" because I had fatty liver. Does all that make sense? My brain feels like mush this morning.
It is so cold here. Noodles cactus picture made me yearn for summer!!! I am applying for jobs all over the place as well as to school. I figure when I get a job and into a university in the same city, I've found the right place to move!!!
Yer welcome!! Those pics were actually taken last April but they fit with the season here in Arizona. I'll post one of the Ocotillo for ya too. Our "jumping cactus". it literally will attach itself to you if you get too close!! You should see my pant legs when I transplant little ones...hahhaha I look like the Green Giant with thorns.
I have a little "Mr. Liver" story here...
I was on chemo for 3 years. I badly damaged Mr. Liver from it and one day I got REALLY sick...no idear what the **** was happening, cept I felt like I was going to drop dead. I was losing all bodily fluids everywhere you could imagine in every way you could imagine, even through my ears and pores. Hubby literally carried me into the E/R. I figured I had caught a REALLY bad flu but it turned out that it was my liver starting to shut down!! The Dr. told me that I was very close to losing the poor mr. liver for good, but he thought that if I could discontinue chemo, eat right, didn't drink ( I rarely do anyhow) and lose some weight, that in about a year my liver would heal itself back to almost normal. Well that whole Mr. Liver episode and drs. speech scared the crap outta me so I did just that and then some...I researched on what natural stuff would help me, what foods & natural things Mr. Liver liked best, stuff like that and I lost 40 pounds. It took me about 2 years instead of the 1, but Mr. Liver has almost recovered completely!! My doctor tells me when I go in "Angel, I wish all my patients would actually LISTEN to me like you did instead of whine at me cause they don't feel good cause they wont listen or follow the medical treatments or advice I give them." Makes me feel better in an odd way hearing that...like the kid at school who followed directions and got an "A" sorta thing. hehhehehe
Anyhow, that's my Mr. Liver story. Gotta baby them livers, girls!!
Noodles: Those pictures are truly amazing! And they say the golf is great in Arizona. Maybe we should all pile in the Caddy and run down there for some R & R. I little golf, swimming, shopping, sunning, and maybe a Diamondback game or 2...
Yeah and if you come right now the Diamondbacks are here in Tucson for their spring training!! So are the Rockies and White Sox as well...turns into a last hey hooo for all of the snowbirds before they hit the road back to their cold destinations. hahahaha!! Course right now they are melting cause it's in the 90's around here. Rare for this time of month but I like it!!
I am glad that you have been able to heal yourself. The liver is a very forgiving organ. Its ability to rejuvenate itself always amazes me! What sort of things do you eat for the liver - I know lemon is good, beets, greens, anything else you'd like to share? You are right, we need to look after Mr. Liver for we can not live without her.
Oh, those pictures are really stunning - thanks for taking the time to post. I truly enjoyed them. Even more now that there is a full fledged snow storm happening - a white out last week and another one today. You see, I cursed myself by bragging about plus 2 temperatures and the fact that it was starting to melt. Oh well, soon the crocuses will peak out and spring/summer will be well on its way - bringing with it mosquitos the size of airplanes and wood ticks. Just a little something to look forward to...Okay, I'll stop complaining.
