April Thread
Woo Hoo!
|
Happy April Fool's Day! I'm going to try to be nice and not play any jokes :o Last year, I changed my facebook profile from single to engaged. I was flooded with phone calls and texts! It was hilarious.
|
I thought about telling my husband I might be pregnant today. I decided against it. It's just too cruel given everything we went through for our daughter. I'm just keeping my mouth shut and hoping he doesn't do anything either. ;)

As for my day, the score so far stands at: Pranksters - 1, Me - 0. I'm so stinking gullible! |
I weighed in and gained 1/2 pound. If you recall last week I lost 1/2 pound.
I will start week 4 of stabilization which is adding more veggies, and some of veggies are winter squashes, carrots, etc. So that is a plus. Center suggests I try to lose another couple of pounds to give me a buffer as right now I am at goal weight. I asked any suggestions and they said rev up exercise, eat more fish and more eggs. I am allergic to eggs, but can eat egg beaters and they said that was fine.. I have kept OP 100%. I am not telling anyone what to do, please don't think that, but I have to make this suggestion.. I would definately try to go 2-3 pounds under goal before starting stabilization. Wish I had done that, but they wanted me to buy 10 more weeks and I refused, as I had bought the weeks 2x, as I did not reach goal when they said I would. Hopefully I can lose two more pounds. I have to figure this out.. If any questions, please feel free to ask. Wishing everyone a wonderful day and think thin. Patzi |
One of my co-workers told me she was waiting for an angry phone call or text message from her 12-yr-old. She said she bought jelly donuts yesterday, and last night she and her boyfriend sucked out the jelly (I didn't ask how, lol) and replaced it with ketchup. I told her that if she didn't hear from her son, she should assume he is plotting some creative way to get back at her with his own pranks. ;)
I also heard some good ideas from others: scrape the cream out of some oreos and replace with white toothpaste, then reassemble. Empty a bottle of coke/pepsi/dr. pepper and refill with cold coffee (and ginger ale or something if you still want it to release air when opened)--OR pour someone a glass of cold coffee and ice instead of soda. Interestingly, most of the pranks I've heard of this year are food-related. |

I thought my scale was playing an April Fool's Day joke on me this morning. Yesterday, I weighed in at 185.5 at the center. This morning was 183.8. Totally bypassed 184. :carrot:

I had an interesting WI today. I did not lose or gain today but that is actually amazing because TOM is comming and normally that means a 5 lb gain so 0 is awesome!
I had a different counselor today. She is visiting from another center and was amazing. She asked about exercise and actually suggested I increase my exercise considerably which is awesome. She suggested adding streching and strength training slowly as well as some cardio every day. This is all based on the fact that I work at night/sleep all morning and my job is 100% sedentary (I sit and type for 8-9 hours with potty breaks as my only exercise during this time). The other counselors recomended 30 min 3 times. I really felt like she listened to what my life was like and then offered advice based on my lifestyle, not just what some random piece of paper says the average person should do. Mariah |
Congrats, Jen and Mariah!
candi, I have two yorkies too. patzi, that's certainly something to consider. |

My little guys are 4yrs old and the loves of my life... they're my kids. Don't know what I would do without them. |
Dallas traveling update: I did great today. I am really proud of myself. I ate OP breakfast at home before we left, and I packed myself a lunch since I knew we would be eating on the road. I packed a salad with chicken and an orange. I drank water all day and was so proud of myself with road snacks. I love to snack during a road trip and hubby got Combo's...some of my fave snacks. And I didn't even have one!!
Our catered dinner was ok. There was salad, but only ceasar dressing, so I only had a small dab and covered my dressing with pepper and cheese. I figured better to have the extra cheese than a dressing made from I don't know what. It was Italian food- breadsticks (I didn't even have a bite!), lasagna (skipped it...it was made with alfredo), and some tortelini with tomato sauce. I got about 6 tortelini for my carb serving...and some grilled chicken. They also had tiramisu (seriously my favorite dessert) and I only had 2 bites of hubby's. I know it was 2 bites, but I didn't have a whole slice! I did drink unsweet tea with my dinner to make myself feel like I was having a treat. I'm proud of my day on program (minus by 2 bites of dessert) while traveling and eating the catered food. Let's hope tomorrow is just as good! |

Is there a such thing as drinking too many HNS? Would that be bad?
|
Quote:
I was wondering the same thing. I was feeling a little hungry before my afternoon snack and didn't know if it was ok to have a HNS or if I had to do that along with my afternoon snack. I'm going to ask the center today. |
Down 1lb today, which truly is miraculous, given that this week was my TOM and wasn't pretty--lots of off-plan snacks, etc. I'm thinking I"m going to attribute that pound to the SlimQuick. But I'll take it!:D
I asked the gal I weighed in with about switching plans, and she said I"m close enough to 200 now to go ahead and move over to the green menu. Hopefully this will get my losses moving along. I'm worried about feeling hungry, though, with smaller portion sizes and less HNS... but I guess I'll just be drinking more fiber supplements (MRC or benefiber). Well, I'm going to eat lunch, then we have lots of yard clean-up and other projects to do today. :) Have a great weekend, everyone! |
@teacherlady what plan were you on before? How many HNS were you taking? I started on green plan and I am supposed to take up to 5 a day.

What a horrible dive off the wagon last night. MY FIRST BUT IT WAS HORRIBLE. Hubby came home last night after a six week deployment. The boys and I made him a cake to welcome him home. We had made cupcakes and goodies before and I wasn't tempted, but this time was different. I licked the beaters, I licked the spatula, I licked the bowl, I licked my fingers. I ate two cupcakes and enough frosting to frost 6 cupcakes. Then since I decided I already screwed up, I added a peanut butter egg on top!!! It all tasted GLORIOUS! Then it hit me and started feeling sick.
I'm not horribly mad about it, I wish I didn't, but not mad. I'm not perfect and I don't have to be. Now I am just trying to decide wheter or not to tell the center. I am so close to goal and my contract technically expires on the 4th. I don't want them to make me pay for more weeks just because I did this. This truly was my one and only cheat. Now daddy is home and can't get enough of the new me. It is so nice to hear all of his compliments. I'm glad he is here to help take some of the stress away. We are still trying to get my little man into the Mayo clinic for epilepsy. I'm not sure how things are going to go trying to add new foods to my menu and travelling while in the hospital. I guess I really needed that binge. Hope it doesn't happen again. Drinking LOTS of water today!!!! |
This is the first time for a Saturday WI. I think the only reason I went was because I had gained a pound at Thursday's WI. So not only am I down that 1 pound but 3 more on top of that! :dancer: 12.5lbs in 16 days!
I also asked about the HNS. The consultant told me not to drink anymore than what I was allotted (which is 5 on MetaSlim Plus). I have to drink the 3 with the meals, which is what I have been doing and she said if I wanted to do the other 2, I could do those at anytime during the day. Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend. We have great weather, here in Arkansas! |
Hello everyone! I am new to MRC today is day 8 and I have lost 5.5 pounds.
I had a craving and had a snack :( I had cucumbers in apple cider vinegar. Is that horrible? Is it going to push me back? |
Nicole, girl, your secret is safe with us.
Don't add confessing this one time to the center to your stress. Enjoy your family and just stay OP from now on. candi, I'm so happy for you!! Welcome, boxer lady. |

If you drink too many HNS once in a while, it's not on plan, but it's better than if you were to choose to eat a bunch of chips or many other things you could choose for a snack when you're hungry. Still, I wouldn't make a habit of it. |
@Nicole -- I agree with Edie. I wouldn't say anything to your center. If you are worried it's giong to set you back, then maybe do a day of metaquick or just stay 100% strictly on plan between now and the next time you go in to the center. Life happens, and these are situations you'll have to deal with whether you're losing, stabilizing, or maintaining. It's just a few mistakes...just one day.
@ boxer lady -- Welcome! Cucumbers in vinegar are probably not awful or going to affect you too much (depending on how much you ate), but I wouldn't make a habit of it. If you find yourself getting hungry, you might want to think about the MRC fiber drinks or benefiber drinks to help make you feel full and get you through the day. Well, we got a LOT accomplished today, and I'm going to be surprised if I can even move tomorrow, lol. Cut down some bushes and moved a bunch of brush from the backyard to the front, moved old patio stones & broken concrete from the backyard to the front (which involved running up and down the front steps many times), cleaned out the garage, moved a bunch of boxes of books and etc. over to the storage unit, wiped down and repainted the baseboards, trim, and front door in the living room. Whew!! I don't usually count housework/yardwork into my calories burned on livestrong.com, but I'm absolutely sore and exhausted, so I'm definitely counting this!! ;) |

Boxer lady - Congrats on the weight loss. Eating outside of scheduled times can effect your weight loss. I do think both cucumbers and some apple cider vinegar are allowed on most plans - just save it for your meals. Rzrbackcandi - Congrats on the weight loss! Teacherlady - I would definately count that work as exercise and I could use you at my house. Hubbie opted for taking kids to the park, playing, walking and even some jogging instead of yardwork and cleaning the garage and it was a fun, exhausting day! Mariah |
Well day two was ok, not great, but ok.
This morning for breakfast, our hotel had advertised "hot breakfast" (which is one reason why I picked this one) but it was oatmeal packets, waffles and danishes (to me, hot breakfast would have meant eggs or something I could have eaten OP), but I did bring a meal bar, so I had that. We had lunch at a Mexican place...and I ate a couple stuffed jalepenos (stuffed with chicken and cheddar...they were breaded and fried, but I took the batter off the outside), a chicken chili relleno that was grilled, and a salad. I had a couple chips and salsa, but I took my fat and carb blocker so it was ok. For dinner, we were at the Cowboy's stadium for a dirt bike race, and all they had was concession food. I walked all over looked for a salad or something, and a side salad was like $8! I just couldn't pay that...so hubby and I shared a fish sandwhich. I know the bread wasn't good for me, but I only hate half of it.... I did what I could. I'm sure half a bun won't be too awful for me. Made the best decisions I could....can't beat myself up about it. We are meeting friends for lunch tomorrow, but I've looked at the menu online and picked out my OP option, so I'm ready for that! |
Razorbackbritt, I think you are doing remarkably well considering your choices.
I wouldn't be surprised if you showed a loss on your next weigh-in. Great willpower! |
Thanks little edie! My goal was 100% OP, but I have to give myself some room since I'm not at home and able to cook for myself and whatnot.
Man, yesterday the little :devil:inside me wanted to eat the whole basket of chips and salsa....so I'm at least proud that I only had a few there! :-) |
Geez
Welcome April! I have been running non stop since last week and I'm still going!
I didn't do so well at the retirement dinner - although Wil Jenny's restaurant did an AWESOME job accommodating my needs - I had steak & asparagus and a nibble of the mashed potatoes .. they offered to double the asparagus, but UH .. omg mashed potatoes!!! Where I REALLY blew it was dessert. The fruit wasn't cutting it and so they made me a small portion of bread pudding .. it was very good, the best I've ever had! It would have been a nice cheat had I not been STUFFED out of my mind already. This was the night before weigh in .. so obviously at weigh in I didn't do so great at losing .5 lb. I did really well at my Uncle's funeral - ate ZERO. Actually took my mom - who has to eat gluten free foods to First Watch - they have a GF menu for her. I had them customize a turkey sandwich to fit the plan - it was a bit hilarious, but great! I didn't even finish it all. Also I won second place for the March contest - someone must have come in on Thursday and lost more than 10 lbs - because I was way ahead of everyone! Still got $50 in meta bucks, so I'm happy! April fools on me this whole weekend .. played by my scale! I am showing a whole 10 lbs lighter than I was at Thursday's weigh in. I am hoping my brand new scale is not already broken, but I am not giving any thought to it until I weigh in tomorrow morning! That's my update, hopefully I will be more on track this week! |
I've never been one to try new things.. however, today I had a turkey patty for lunch. I was really weirded out by the texture when I was making the patty and almost threw it out.. but it made it to the pan. Of couse, it had a ton of spices I really like the Mrs. Dash Onion & Herb Salt Free spice. Then I added pepper and salt substitute.
I wasn't too sure about how I was going to like/not like it so I cut half which was about 2.5oz. and then added cottage cheese and 4oz. green beans. I must say, I made a pretty darn good turkey patty. So I'm saving the other half for lunch tomorrow and I've made the ranch dip so I'll use that and eat some raw veggies with it. Now that I've tackled the turkey.. it's on to veggies. I'm really going to try to eat different ones. :hun: |
Well I'm trying to make up for the HUGE mistake on Friday. Today I ran (not walked) 2 miles. I killed myself by thinking about all those calories that I just comsumed. It is such a beautiful day out today that it was so worth it. I was a runner in high school but only in high school. I stopped running after graduation. It was so nice to be able to do that again.
Been getting lots of bedroom exercises in now that the hubby is home too!! ;) One of the best ways to burn calories!!! I took some time for myself and had a little shopping trip. Now I have a big problem. I found two perfect dresses for my after pictures. I can't choose. Maybe I will post pics later and see if you guys can help. Thanks everyone for the support that is given here. I truly could not have gotten this far with this forum! Hope everyone is have a great weekend! Good luck staying on plan. |

Oooh! I love shopping vicariously through others! Definitely post pics and we'll help you choose. That way, too, you know which one looks best on you in pictures (I've had some outfits that look great on me, but terrible in pictures). I'm so glad your husband is home and that life can become a little less stressful for you. :) |

I hate spending the money, but I finally broke down and got some new bras today. My bras I've been wearing are huge now, and it's starting to show under my clothes--plus, I don't get the lift I need, anymore. ;)
I went to Lane Bryant for their bra-fitting weekend, with their buy 1 get one 1/2 off sale for their bras (I love cacique bras). I've gone from a tight 44DDD to a 40DD. Wow. WOW. I told the saleslady that measured me that I needed new bras because I've lost so much weight. She asked me if i was planning on losing any more--and then she told me that if I lose much more, I won't be able to buy their bras anymore--they only go down to a size 38! :) I haven't worn a 36 or 38 bra since the 1990s! I also picked up some new boy-short undies while I was there--my undies have been too big for a while, giving me a saggy-butt look. ;) |
