PiYo Update

Well - I went to the PiYo class that my center last night. The lady who teaches it is from World's Gym - she does a Spinning class, Yoga, Pilates, the Boot Camp and if you're familiar with World's Gym .. she does the "R.I.P.P.E.D" class! Her husband did the MRC program and lost over 80lbs. and that's how she started teaching there.

Anyway - Downward Dogs, Resting child's, Warriors, Supermans, Leaping Frogs... And so much more! There was a lot of up & down and being on your hands & knees. My knees didn't hold up every well and I actually have bruises this morning. There were slight modifications but even with the modifications, it was hard! I'm not too sore this morning, besides my knees and I think I feel those muscles that have been hidden for so many years.. yes, my abs! I think I have abs somewhere underneath all this flab. I sure feel those this morning.

Going to keep doing it. I'm not a quiter! But next time, I'm definitely NOT going to go to the gym before I go to this class. It's exhausting.

Just a quick post since I see my sister pulling in the driveway...

I lost TWO pounds and it's TOM too. All the extra water I chugged was worth it!!

That is great... I am happy for you...

Well, only down a .5 pound....but my favorite counselor at the center said she was happy with that. That the meta-protein isn't so much for losing bunches of weight, but kickstarting my fat loss again...and she thinks it will do that.

She also talked to me about the possibility of not hitting my goal. She was saying that not everyone can make it to that low of a BMI....and (like her) I may have to stabilize where my body wants me to...not necessarily where I want to. Like I would like to get to 140...but she was saying 155-160 might be better as it may be where I stop losing at. We will see.

And my Zumba class went well this morning. We had lots of fun.

patzi 04-12-2011 11:07 AM

Hi..
Weighed in and gained again, this time 1/2 pound, last Friday gained .9 pounds. Center not happy , but I don't know what to do. I have not gone to stabilization full force, per their request and my sensitivity to starch and fruit, so I have no idea why I gained.. I drank my water, exercised daily, and did what I should do.

It would not be so frustrating but every time I gain, they want to sell me all these kits or supplements, and mercy me, I take enough now and I do decline.

Just venting, I guess, thanks for listening.. It is difficult when one does not go off program to gain two weigh ins, but I guess this is what stabilization is all about.

I was told today, if one takes Phenatrim, not to take it late at night, as clients have told the Center that it keeps them up.

Hope everyone has a great day and a great weight loss.

Hi..
You will probably be fine, if you do not go to gym before class.. Good for you , taking the initiative and going.. They had boot camp at my Center, but I was working and out of town, so missed it. It sounds like it was an intense workout and glad you made it . It does become easier the more you go.

Wanted to post, as I believe I forgot to, the Final Stabilization that I will be on.
I am on Meta Slim, and this is the additions in total for stabilation from the 6th week on.This is in addition to your menu.

Starch.. One starch serving at lunch every day
Fruit.. One fruit serving at breakfast every day
Dairy Two dairy servings every day
Vegetable
One new vegetable serving two times week.( These are the high
starchy veggies, like carrots, peas, winter squash, etc.) T
Fat One fat serving every day.. This includes peanut butter, avocado
nuts, soft cheese, etc.:

Stabilization may be different if on another program, but as I said, this is what they gave me and I am on Meta Slim.

Any questions, please feel free to ask.

I hope it does end up kickstarting your fat loss, but she may be right--and I'm wondering about that for myself. Even when I'm in great shape and a good body fat %, I tend to weigh heavier on scales than most people. When I was at my skinniest in HS, I was at about 170--and my doctor told me I shouldn't weigh any less than 165 or 160 or my body fat % would be too low for a woman. And I'm only 5'5"!

When I lost about 40 lbs 10 years ago, I got down to 190, and that was tough to maintain for me during the school year (you know, working full-time tends to get in the way of exercise. bummer). I found that 200-208 was easier for me to maintain for several years. Here I am at 206, STRUGGLING to lose any more weight. I'm struggling mentally because I don't know if this is where I should stay, or if there's something more I should try to lose these last 10lbs.

Either way, I'm definitely interested to see how the metaprotein ends up working out for you.

Patzi-- I feel for you. That must be terribly frustrating and saddening--and then to have them make you feel worse about it by them being "unhappy," it makes you feel like you're doing something wrong (when you're not) or that there's some way you should have better control over your body (ha!).

IMHO, I would stay away from adding supplements--this is stabilization, and it is supposed to be backing you off from the "diet" and moving you into "real life eating." You aren't going to be able to take supplements forever (as if we could afford it!), so I would try to do it as "naturally" as possible. That's just my opinion, but it kind of sounds like you and I think alike on this one. :)

I really don't have any advice for you, but I wanted to let you know that I'm listening and feel for you.

I know this is frustrating for you. Maybe you should cut out one food between each wi and see if that is the problem, then a different food if needed, until you figure out which food is the trigger. Just an idea...

Thank you, teacher lady.. I agree with you. I am staying away from adding supplements, and I was stern with that today, I guess as I have been so many times before. LOL. Today in my business I made myself a list of what the new stabilizations are in addition to the Meta Slim diet, and will decide what I think would be the best way to go.. Appreciate your input.

Patzi,
I hope you can figure things out with stabilization.

I haven't had any issues with taking Phentatrim late but I also take Trazodone to help me sleep. I usually take the Phentatrim 15-30 minutes before I eat, so at night, it's usually 6:30 or 7:00 when I take it. Then my Trazodone closer to bedtime And I'm fine. I did take 2 Cortitrim with my 2 MSM's after dinner one night and that kept me awake, even with the sleeping pill. So that was the last time I took the Cortitrim's at night.

I'm sure everyone is affected differently but this has been my experience.

I think this is the best option. You have been at this for awhile and are probably the best authority on what is going on with your body. I know gaining is so fustrating - especially after finally getting to goal - but your gains have been small and trying to figure out what works for you is what satbilization is all about. I'm 100% certain you can figure this out and solve the problem without added supplements. Hang in there we are all cheering for you! :cheer2:

A loss of 0.5 is still a loss! Hopefully this will jumpstart things for you once again. You seem to be very fit and muscular and 140 might be too light . . . Do you have a size of clothing you wuold like to fit in? I really don't know what my final goal is yet. I've been overweight since junior high. I would rather be a little heavier and have the muscle mass than lighter without the muscle. I think a size 8 would be awesome.

Well, I stayed OP (save eating about 4 crackers on Sunday afternoon) since Saturday, even increased my exercise on Monday evening to add a 20 min walk before yoga, and I gained 1 lb today. :( I kind of expected it--it's been pretty par for the course lately, losing 3 lbs, then gaining 1.5, losing 2 lbs, then gaining 1, etc. etc.).

I had a different consultant today (I've had the same one for about the last 5 WI), and she was really encouraging. We discussed my exercise, and she suggested the metabalance plan (which I've been asking about for a while with the other consultant). Her only hesitation was that it might take a couple weeks to see a difference with a different plan, then more time to get used to my old plan if the new one didn't seem to work--and time is $$ on this program. We decided that I would try up to 10 days of phentatrim, and if that doesn't increase my losses or make them more consistent, then we would definitely switch me to metabalance.

I've been pretty skeptical of the supplements (partly because of the cost), but I'm so ready to just hurry up and lose these last few pounds and be done, I guess I'm a little more willing to give them a try. I'm really hoping this works, but relieved that my consultant today agreed that metabalance should be the next step if my losses don't increase.

Rzrbackcandi 04-12-2011 07:49 PM

WI tonight.. after only a 1lb. loss last week - I lost 3!! Hoping to sign the 20lb board by next week.

I'm thinking it's the veggie drink vs. eating raw/cooked veggies. Because I really only eat Cucumbers, Celery, Squash and Green Beans. We'll see. The consultant suggested I try to eat regular veggies a few times a week, which I do, so I won't become dependent on the veggie drink.

Hope everyone has a great week!

hey everyone! I have taken the last 3 months to just maintained and take a break from the constant protein drinks and supplements. My husbands job has a very slow time that lasts from Jan-April so I knew I would have to go without the supplements during that time. So I did, I maintained and now things are back to normal as usual and I am ready to tackle my last 30lbs!!!!! Excited to finally meet my goal especial since I know it is possible for me to maintain this time around by just making great healthy choices 95% of the time leaving some room for those special occasions! Look forward to getting to know the new ones and catching back up with those of you that have been around. This is my second time doin MRC so I am a veteran! The first time was about 5 years ago I lost 72lbs exactly in my 24 weeks by following to a T with no deviation and moderate exercise. Had some huge life changing events and fell back into my comfort eating. It took about a year to gain it all back, but I watched every lb come back on the scale. This time I vowed that I will never gain the weight back because it is such a journey to get it off so the 3 months of maintaining is a big thing for me. I am finally leaning others ways to cope with stress (which I have right now, I am in Nursing school with a family and a part time hairstylist). I have watched so many peers in my nursing class pack on the pounds while I have managed to lose about 65 even being a stress eater in my past. So anyway, thats about me!

May I ask how they advised you to take Phentatrim?By that I mean, how many times a day, with meals or just when hungry?
Thanks

Welcome Back April,

I'm new here. I'm on the 72lbs in 24weeks program for now.. but I will have to sign up for more weeks to reach my goal. I'm on day 18 of the MetaSlim Plus Level 3 plan. So that's a little about me :)

They told me to do it 3x a day--about 30 mins before each meal. I went ahead and started it this evening, as I had an early dinner (about 4:30pm), so I actually took my first pill at about 4pm.

We'll see how it goes. I talked about it with my sister, and she is thinking along the same lines as me--that it sounds like I might not be getting enough calories. But, we'll see. If it doesn't change anything in the next week or so, I'll definitely switch plans.

Well I don't know what I'd like to be. And the problem is...I don't feel like a size 8 (which I have been buying in pants). I still see myself as the 14/16 I started out as sometimes. And its funny, I know my mother in law is an 8 (granted a bit taller than me) and I think of her as thin...but I dunno.

I think I would like to be a solid 6-8. Like I'm still buying 10-12 dresses and such. I think I for sure want to be in the 150s....which means getting out of the 160s. I might be ok if I settled out in the 150s instead of 140...but we will see.

I do know from my Tanita readings that I have quite a bit more muscle mass than most my size...they told me 10-15 pounds more muscle. Which is why we settled on 140 because "average normal" weight for my height is 125-130..so we thought 140 would be good. But we will see. I won't fight my body.

Thanks for the feedback everybody.

Don't be surprised it it takes you a year or more to 'see' yourself as you really are. Look at yourself in the mirror every morning (naked :-)) and take lots of pictures. Then, MOST important, KEEP doing it. I quit looking :(

As for sizes, I found out that when I got smaller than my size 4 ladies (around 135 lbs) nothing fit anymore as junior sizes just won't work for a real woman's body shape.

Wow you are an inspiration! You have a plan and you know your lifestyle and you are making it work!

My husbands job has a very slow time that lasts from Jan-April so I knew I would have to go without the supplements during that time. Wow! Welcome back!
I agree with carmendmv that it is impressive that you were able to maintain on your own, and then have the willpower to come back to the diet!

What is the ONE thing that really inspired you to lose your weight? Health? Looks? Clothes? Someone else?

I am really curious what it took to make each of us finally say enough is enough, I am going to lose this weight! :D

In the past, it's been looks/clothes and just overall feeling better. Obviously, that never stuck for long.

This time, it is all about HEALTH.

My sister is 9 years older than me, and we both have PCOS. We also have a family history of diabetes, heart disease and stroke. My sister had to go through extensive fertility treatments for each of her pregnancies, and she even lost her twins when she was at 5 months. :( She's had gestational diabetes, and lately her sugars have been running high even when not pregnant (gestational diabetes=more likely to develop adult diabetes). She also started taking aspirin every day due to some pain in her chest.

Looking at my sister is like looking through a window into my future, and it scared the heck out of me. We're going to start trying to get pregnant this summer, and I knew that wasn't going to happen unless I lost weight. I also want to avoid gestational diabetes and all the other complications my sister has had with her health.

I just wish I'd had these realizations earlier, so I could enjoy the fit, skinnier me for a while before getting pregnant. ;)

I would say it is all of the above for me! I have been a hairstylist for 7 years and unfortunately looks and being able to put yourself together with cute outfits and heels is a must for maintaining a good clientel. Then I decided to go back to nursing school and had gained my weight back and decided how can I be a good health concious nurse if I am 80lbs overweight? I also want to be the mom that gets in the pool with my 5 year old instead of not going at all or sitting on the side in my t shirt and shorts because I don't want to get in a swim suit, and the over all health improvement of just being the weight my body is supposed to be to prevent heart disease, diabetes and the countless other diseases I learn about everyday in class and clinicals that obesity plays a role in contributing to.

For me, it was health. I always liked the way I looked and thought I was dressing cute when I was heavy (though its much more fun to shop now!).

But over the summer, my doctor suggested we do a bunch of health tests....thyroid, cholesterol, sugar, etc. And my sugar was high. Pre-diabetic high. My A1C level was high and she told me I had two options: lose weight or get diabetes.

My grandpa had diabetes and unfortunately, died from complications a few years ago....and I didn't want that to happen to me. Since I actually could do something about it...I decided I would.

I tried from June to September calorie coutning and working out...but the pounds weren't really budging. I was able to do more excersize, so I was physically improving....but in order for my diabetes risk to decline, my weight had to go down. One of my professors had done MRC during my first year of grad school and lost a lot of weight, so I talked to her about it and decided to join.

My doc told me for every 20 pounds I lost, my risk for diabetes would decreast 20%, and so far I've lost 40 pounds! So 40% less risk for me to get diabetes! YAY! (PS. Today I'm wearing the dress I wore to high school graduation!) *photo attached* http://i596.photobucket.com/albums/t...0413-00041.jpg[

Right now, it is health, although wearing cute clothes again is a bonus. When I was pregnant with my daughter (18 months old on Friday), I developed severe pre-eclampsia. I was on bed rest for 6 weeks in the hosptial and even then she was delivered 2 months early because my body couldn't handle it anymore. When I was discharged, I was on 11 blood pressure pills a day. Currently, I'm down to 3 and am hoping the cardiologist will reduce that when I see him again in June.

High BP is a genetic thing for me. I've been as low as 136 pounds/size 6 and still had high BP. The irony is, it was diagnosed 6 months after running a marathon. Go figure.

Ditto! I just wasn't feeling well and went to the doctor for a full hormone panel. Everything came back normal EXCEPT my blood sugar, which was way too high. Doc wanted to put me on meds straightaway, but I told him I'd like to lose the weight. I joined up with MRC one month later.
