Well I wasn't perfect at my wedding weekend away.

I packed my meal bars for tough situations, but they melted in the car and were globby and pretty much inedible. So I did the best I could....for the first day. We had the bridal luncheon (girly salads and fruit....just declined the cake) and the rehearsal dinner (BBQ, no bun). But wedding day, I was feeling so tired and stressed (I ended up doing TONS for my bride friend....steaming all the dresses, doing her makeup, setting up lunch for everyone...) that I gave in and pigged out at lunch and didn't do so great at the reception.

By pigged out, I mean, I had chips and dip at lunch with some banana pudding....and at the reception, I had fried chicken, corn salad, and some cookies. So I could have done worse...but I didn't do great.

But, today at home, I have the stomach bug. Diarrhea (sorry if TMI) every 30 minutes or so. I thought maybe it was from eating food that my body wasn't used to, but another bridesmaid is sick today too....so I'm thinking we picked up a bug.

I am supposed to weigh in tomorrow, but if I'm still sick, I will be staying home. I will just have to own up to going off program. No hiding.

Rzrbackcandi 04-18-2011 07:29 PM

I added 1lb hand weights to my exercise - which is walking on the treadmill. At Walmart, I thought to myself.. 1lb, surely I could do 2lbs but let's start small and just go up from there. Well, thank goodness! I don't think I've sweated so much before (except for when I was a Marching Razorback during **** week or in the heavy polyester uniforms). I definitely got a work out today and I'm already feeling it in my arms! 1/2 way through my walk, which I just did 40min... my arms were shaking.

And something I learned last week from my center.. you're supposed to have a HNS after a workout or eat withing 30min after. I didn't know that but I've started doing it. Hope it helps with my WI tomorrow. :lifter:

Chips, dip & banana pudding.. now that is a mixture! But banana pudding.. YUM! Its even better if there are extra nilla wafers in it :o

I hope you feel better soon. Good luck at your WI.. you never know, this little stomach bug could cause you to lose everything you ate.

Gotta love southern cooking! However, I planned ahead and brought my OP foods with me. I even turned away the table of deserts. I was fortunate enough to have a couple of ladies at the table with me that ended up being my support system for the day. They were amazing! I'm so happy I stuck with it. :)

Pat yourself on the back.1.5 pounds is a great weight loss and you did a superb job on staying OP.

Thanks, Patzi.

Unfortunately, I developed a terrible, painful ear infection really quickly today. I noticed at lunchtime I couldn't hear out of my right ear. By 1:30pm I noticed it hurt my ear when I yawned or bent over. I called the doctor's office at 2 pm, and by the time I got there at 3pm I was in constant pain. By the time I left and went to the pharmacy, I was almost nauseated I was so dizzy and hurting. :( I had ear tubes as a kid, so I haven't had an ear infection since I was in elementary school. Unfortunately, it's like an injured back--it doesn't matter what position you sit/lay in, it still hurts, a lot. And there's nothing I can do but take the antibiotic and wait. :(

I felt so crappy tonight, all I wanted was a grilled cheese sandwich. I couldn't bare the thought of much else--it even hurts to chew, and I wanted something bland. Hubby made the sandwich for me, then made me eat some veggies, too, so at least I'd be a little closer to OP.

Dolly 04-19-2011 12:36 AM

teacherlady, I'm right there with you.

I developed a sinus infection (these darn seasonal allergies) Friday and went completely off plan until today. I ate only chocolate mint bars Saturday(five!) and vanilla wafers on Sunday. I didn't exercise Sunday either.

I can nurse a broken arm for a week before getting it checked and take minimal pain pills for back surgery but if my throat or sinuses hurt, I get thrown completely off kilter.

My weigh-in will be awful this morning but since I'm back on plan already I'm not going to sweat it too much.

Rainy Tuesday

It has been awhile since I've posted. I tend to lose a 1lb every time I go to WI. Not a quick weight loss, but at least it is down. They did finally switch me to the meta-balance. Every time I went in they'd ask how much are you exercising. I'd say 3 days a week with a personal trainer for 1 to 1.5 hours at a time and 3 days a week 60 minutes of cardio. Finally someone listened and switched my plan. I didn't get overly frustrated because even though my weight's kind of been in a holding pattern, I'm losing inches. I had to go buy a couple pairs of shorts and capri's for the summer. It was nice to be able to put on a 14 instead of an 18. I had to get a new skirt for an interview while in the dressing room the sales lady knocks on the door and asked me if I needed anything. I told her I think I need a medium skirt. I almost cried in the dressing room when it fit. :)

I'm praying for our rainy weather to go away. I have tickets to the inaugural baseball game at our new baseball field. I am not a baseball fan, but the tickets were free (I work for the company that has naming rights.) and just being at a college ball game w/ fellow co-workers and friends will be fun. Before MRC I would have never signed up for the free tickets I would have rather sat at home. I'm coming out of my shell a bit. I will even have a cute guy friend by my side.

I pray that everyone has a blessed Tuesday and I hope to post a bit more now that tax season is over.

Congrats on the loss, it may not be fast, but as long as it keeps going down you will get to your goal! I can't wait to put on a medium skirt. The ball game sounds like fun. I would glady trade you your rain for the snow that started falling here this morning. It looks pretty but is making a huge, slushy mess.

I'm so sorry you don't feel well and your hubbie sounds so sweet. Grilled cheese is a favorite of mine when I don't feel well and have even had it for breakfast OP over the weekend. Take care of your body and let the antibiotics due their job.

cmmnsnsfml-

I, too, avoid certain social events because of my weight. It's more because I have such nice clothes in smaller sizes from when I lost weight before and have nothing to wear now.

I am so happy for you that you got into that medium skirt! What a triumph! I don't think people who haven't struggled with weight loss know what we go through but I know it's quite an achievement for every inch we drop.

Congratulations to your weight loss. Slow is good, as long as it comes off. I was real slow during my weight challenge.. And how wonderful to be in a different size. I am so happy for you and great that you are back.

Hi y'all,,
Beautiful day here in Florida today. Hot but nice.

I weighed in and lost 2 1/2 pounds.. If you recall, I am on Meta Slim, and they put me back on day 5-11 menu to see if I could get 3 pounds below goal, which means one more pound to go. They want me to do the same menu till Friday, then go back to the green menu, and start adding my stabilization items again, whatever I think will work. And with the problem I had, I think I will add one a week and see how that goes. I still advise, don't push stabilization, I would go when I was ready, and try to go a few pounds under, as it is so easy to put on during stabilization. If I make it to three pounds under, I will be ok . It will be something to work with.

First of all - Congrats on your first milestone! I haven't been sick since I've been on plan.. yet. But if all food sounds like pooh - that should keep you away from the bad stuff.. right? :) I would just eat what you can and throw in extra HNS, if you are allowed.

teacherlady79 04-19-2011 02:29 PM

Well, in spite of my allergies/cold/ear infection, I still managed to lose 2lbs since Saturday. I got to sign the 60lb board and get my stone! :carrot:

I'm feeling somewhat better today (I don't feel like someone kicked me in the side of the head anymore, which is an improvement, lol), but I still don't have much appetite. Also struggling to get all my water in. I just keep reminding myself that I need to keep my fluids up, or I'll end up showing a water weight gain on my next weigh in (especially with all the meds I'm on), which is discouraging even if it's not really fat gain.

:p So, to all my fellow "sickies": even though food--especially OP food--doesn't sound good at all right now, try to stay as close to plan as possible and drink as much water as possible, and you can still maintain or lose when sick!

Actually, it doesn't keep you away from the bad stuff...it makes you want carby comfort foods more. Last night, all I wanted was a grilled cheese sandwich. This morning, all I wanted was cereal. The idea of eating protein this morning made me want to barf. So I ate a bar, instead.

I had a late breakfast because I slept in (called in sick today), so now I"m trying to figure out what I can stomach for lunch, when cereal, crackers, or mac & cheese is all that sounds edible to me.

Congrats on 60lbs lost!! How are you enjoying your Kindle?

And I guess I can understand why comfort food is all you want when you're sick. I guess this is where being single comes in as a good thing - because I don't have anything in my apartment that I can munch on or make that would be 'OFF'P. And I guess if I get the munchies when I'm sick then it'll be with Melba Toast, Protein, Fruits or Veggies.

Hope you feel better soon!

I seem to learn something new every time I go in. But I guess having the HNS restores your body after the workout. Which make sense, considering weight lifters are always drinking protein shakes after workouts.

New to 3FC/Supplements

Hi all! My name is Kathy and I am new to the forum. I have been following for a while before joining 3FC and must say you are a great group of people and so supportive of one another. I have been with MRC for about 2 months, but just transitioned to the Meta-Slim plan. I am really excited about it. Question- I have been taking MRC 6 and Cortitrim all along and just started on the Enhancer to boost my metabolism. Does anyone else take this and does it work? It was expensive and just would like some feedback.
ALSO, does anyone know how I get the a ticker?

Welcome Kathy! Congrats on starting MRC.

Not sure about the enhancer question - is that Phentratrim? And you have to be active on the site for 20days and I think have 20 posts. If you go to the main section - it has questions & answers - that has a lot of info.

WI today and lost 2 more pounds. My ticker is a little deceiving.. I'm at 308.5. I WILL be signing that 20lb board Friday at my next WI! :carrot:

Weighed in last night, and I'd lost 3 so I'm at 39.5 again... I'm back to this again after 2 weeks. I hope to make it past 40 by the end of the week. It's so hard to keep OP all the way sometimes! It's so easy to slip here and there.

:lifter:

Is adding weights a good idea? My sister's an Exercise Science major and she's warned me that if I want to focus solely on losing weight... working out with weights could slow that down. She explained that keeping active and doing cardio is a must, but adding weight lifting will definitely slow your losses. Let me know how your results are.

Congrats on the loss! :carrot:

I think it is a toss up about adding the weights. Strength training will increase your muscle mass (which might cause a temporarly slow down) but it will increase your metabolism which should help with weight loss and maintenence. Personally I think adding light weights/resistance bands/light strength training is a good idea. I want to be toned when I reach my goal weight and the muscle will help me maintain and lose inches. My center has recommended doing strength and stretching exercises like wall pushups, lunges, squatts, etc.

Good Morning

I hope and pray that all the people that are sick get well soon.

Thank you for all of the positive feed back.

I had a wonderful time at the baseball game last night. It was colder than snot more like football weather than baseball weather. I had a great time and Nebraska won so that was even better. :) I did manage to avoid all of the ballpark foods, the hot dogs, pretzels, nachos. They all looked good. I'm sure having my personal trainer by my side helped to stave off those cravings.

I hope that everyone has a blessed day.

I am finally feeling better today. I am determined to be OP today. It was hard being at home (and I hadn't gone grocery shopping because I was gone all weekend at the wedding) so I didn't have good choices to make. But today is a new day....and I'm starting it over. I feel like I keep going full steam ahead then something comes up that throws me off program, then I get back on the train. I'm sure its not good to take all these breaks....but I am getting so tired of the diet, its all I can do.

I decided that once I do 10 OP days in a row, I will get a pedicure. Got to motivate myself someway!

Welcome!!! I've been doing all three and so far it's worked for me. Everytime I've gone in (with the exception of the weigh in I did following an out of town wedding), I've lost weight. Whether it's a half pound or 3 pounds, I have always lost weight. To me, that speaks for itself and is a great motivator to keep going.

And, as has been mentioned before, 20 days and 20 posts to get the ticker. That has been another motivator for me as well, because I love checking in and moving it down after a WI. The time will fly by. Good luck on your journey!

:welcome2:
