Congratulations Teacher Lady.. Great news to hear.. 10 pounds is right around the corner.. You look great in your new pictures.

Shannysmomma...Congrats to you.. What an inspiration .. Fantastic job and happy for you.

Jenna.. My thoughts and prayers are with you on your little one.

Junie.. Weight will start coming off. If you are still at same weight ask them at center to change diet around, maybe do a few days of Meta Quick,or
go back to one of the previous menus you started with. I don't feel ashamed ,I feel very sad and that turns into frustration, as when I am OP and don'tlose for a few weeks, it can get to you, but hang in there, it will happen.IHope you and hubby are ok..

No IV necessary, but they did give her medicine for her lungs (she was a preemie so we have to keep a close watch on her). We got home late, didn't have dinner till about 8:30, but I stayed OP.

Today is a little different. I haven't even had my first HNS today. The Little One woke up twice last night for a bottle (3:30A & 5:00A). I was thankful she was drinking again, but exhausted today.

Oh, and did I mention TTOM came 3 days early?! :(

Guess I should go get that drink. Thanks for listening.

Jen, my prayers are with you and your daughter.

Started doing metabolic research last Monday and so far so good. I spent the last couple months researching everything there is about MBR. I know of a few people that have done the plan and look great but to top it off have kept the weight off showing this is not another yoyo diet. I was planning on attending MBR, but my husband recently got hurt at work so Im affriad to commit the money not knowing what will happen while he is out for surgery. I decide to attempt this adventure on my own thanks to everyones post on 3 fat chicks. Everyone on here is so helpful and the recipes are life savers.. Im not anywhere near Stabilization and maintence, but I would love to see what I have to look forward to. Knowledge is Power..

Welcome to your new way of life. According to calculations, you are losing about 3.2 pounds per week. That is a great loss. I feel like if I lose weight too fast, I am more likely to put it back on as soon as I get off plan. I average about 2.7 pounds per week and have 78 total pounds to lose. Suggestions might be to increase water (make sure you are maxing out your daily intake) and to add in exercise (you may already be doing these suggestions). You may also have times that you plateau and don't lose or even gain a week. Don't get frustrated, we all go through it. This is your body getting used to its new lifestyle.

I am sure others have even better suggestions, and I look forward to hearing them for myself.

Good luck and remember we are all here with you.

Hello and welcome to the boards!

I have also been doing MRC for 3.5 weeks, but have only lost 8 pounds, so I think your weight loss is awesome! Of course, how much weight we lose per week depends on our current weight and metabolism.

I agree with the water and exercise recommendation. Water helps your body eliminate the fat, and exercise makes you feel great!

Razorbackbritt 03-10-2011 09:05 AM

Well, I am mad. I keep going up an down a pound on my home scale. I am going to weigh in this morning, but I still don't think its going to register 1 pound down for my 40 pound loss.

I have been OP great, doing tons of water and 4 HNS daily. I worked out Sunday and Tuesday. I know stalls happen, and this has only been a week...but its frustrating none the less.

Let's hope the MRC scale is forgiving. I need to show a loss.

Are you eating much fresh veggies vs. cooked? When I stalled out, they suggested eating fresh veggies at least one meal every day, plus adding a fiber drink once a day. Worked for me! Now, whenever I stall or whenever it seems like I have only been eating cooked veggies, I make sure I throw in a few large salads (even though I don't particularly like salad).

Razorbackbritt 03-10-2011 11:22 AM

I will try that. They also suggested I do 3-4 days of Meta Quick this weekend. But I will make my veggies at dinner raw and see how that works.

One way or another, I'm busting out of the 170s.

My center has not been terribly helpful since my weight kind of stalled - I've lost 3 pounds in the past 3.5 weeks, though I was averaging 3 pounds per week before that. I placed a call into the center this morning, but all they'd tell me is what they've told me at my past 7 weigh-ins: "It's medically impossible to follow the menu without losing weight." Yeah, I get that. But, something's up! They're supposed to call me back, so I'm hoping they've got some better insight than, "Keep doing what you're doing."

I may have to take matters into my own hands and go back to the blue menu for a few days. But hopefully, my center will pull through and off some encouraging change! I'm just slightly disappointed in them right now.:(

momoffour 03-10-2011 02:19 PM

I have a question about platues. I know that some people platue around day 7-10 but I was wondering if this is 7-10 days on the regular menu or is preconditioning included.

I started preconditioning about 2 weeks ago but am only on day 6 of my menu. I lost 8 lbs on preconditioning but have actually gained 1 pound since starting the menu. The consultant said my eating, water and exercise were perfect (I've maxed out HNS each day) and just to keep it up, but acted surprised when the scale went up 1 lb instead of down. So I am wondering if there is anyone else who did not lose when first starting the menu. I feel like I am eating a ton of food, all the time.

I have too much invested in this to give up, but I guess I'm looking for a logical reason for why I am not losing weight since starting the actual plan and am really hoping that it is the platue they talked about so that soon the number will go down! (maybe by tomorrow when I go back - fingers crossed)

JenB72 03-10-2011 04:05 PM

I'm not sure if this would help any of you experiencing the dreaded plateau, however, my center always tells me to increase my water intake during those times. That 64 oz. should be the minimum, but it should at least be half of what my weight is, if not more. For example, 200 lbs = 100 oz water a day. Just a thought. It seems to help me when I go through those times. Not always, but it does help. Hang in there.

I was feeling similarly frustrated for the past week and a half. I've only lost 1 pound since my March 1st weigh in... HOWEVER...

They measured my BMI and Fat% with the Tanita scale and although I've only lost that 1 pound ... my BMI has gone from 38.3 to 27.9 in the past 3.5 weeks... and my body fat % has gone from 43.5 to 35.1!

So, although I'm not seeing pounds lost... I'm losing major fat. I'll bet you're doing the same thing!

Be encouraged!

Regarding MRC Cookbook

Hi,

I had a question regarding the MRC cookbook...

" do all the recipes contained in that use the HNS packets or are there recipes that do not have HNS... i am not able to make a decision whether to buy it or not...help..( i prefer the cookbook have not many or any HNS recipes)."

All input is welcomed

R

mandiana 03-10-2011 08:08 PM

I just got the cookbook today. It looks like about half of the recipes contain HNS, but there are a lot of recipes. I would guesstimate 400 or so.

acarol22 03-10-2011 08:22 PM

hi everyone. I am new to the the MRC. I joined the on 2/26/11. Two weeks and lost 6 pounds. I am excited to join the group.

I really enjoy the cookbook. About half the recipies us HSNs. Also, there are different recipies for the various meal plans so not all of the recipies will work with your plan. I've made 6-7 things out of the cookbook and have liked them. Most of the recipies are pretty simple to prepare.

:-( It's not possible. I did a little research on BMI, and BMI is based on height and weight only. Based on an online BMI chart I looked at (http://www.bodyshapingtips.com/body_mass/bmi_chart/), it looks like she put my height into the Tanita scale as 5'8", which means the fat percentage loss is probably wrong as well.

Oh well. I'm going to go back tomorrow and ask them to do it again. I'll let you know how it goes.

I have the cookbook, and I want to say its about half and half on the HNS supplements. There are A TON of recipes - and if you don't want to use the HNS there are things you can substitute. For example I read the recipe for taco chili and it called for 4 tomato basil packets - there is NO WAY I'm using 4 every time we want chili - so I substituted diced tomatoes instead. I actually made a taco recipe from all the "approved" items in the book & my center approved it the other day. I have made about 20 recipes so far, only 3 have been completely terrible - one was a cheese dip and two involved the chocolate pudding.

I'm not sure when it will happen or why or what - I figured I would have hit it by now - I did not do preconditioning I went straight into the MetaSlim Plus Level 2 menu. I'm on day 22 and have lost 13.5 lbs so far ..but I weigh in tomorrow so it *might* be more. I normally loose about 2-4 pounds every time I weigh in but on Monday I only lost 1 lb. I do know that I did not totally stick to program on a few days and I lacked in the water department. So since Tuesday I've averaged about 100 oz of water, I stepped on the scale this morning and I was down 3 lbs .. So I have no clue if tomorrow will be 4 or 1.

Rocki 03-11-2011 08:42 AM

Mandiana..I was wondering if your numbers were wrong. 27.9 is awesome, but at 185 lbs I didn't think it was possible. Either way, you're doing a great job. Keep it up!

I'm not sure when I posted last, or even when I started back on plan (2 weeks ago, maybe??). Anywhoo...I'm done 6lbs total as of this morning. I started at 161.9 and was 155.9 today. So, I finally broker under the 156.5 I couldn't break through! ;)

I haven't really been following the plan, I've been doing a more modified Atkins type diet. I'm still watching my portions, but eating pretty much any meat I want, veggies and a few small servings of fruit or a light carb (flat-out bread, no sugar added stuff). I feel like I'm doing better with this so far. I didn't want to spend the money on more protein drinks and the chocolate stuff I had was too high in carbs, so I'm working it out somehow..

I still would like to come in here and post successes and give and get advice when I can. I'm very familiar with the MRC plan and it's awesome!

Also..does anyone have a copy (or a breakdown) of the plan that allows some dairy? I know there are a couple here doing that plan b/c of dietary restrictions and/or exercise regimen. Please let me know if you have a copy I could have. Thank you.

Razorbackbritt 03-11-2011 09:43 AM

I started Meta Quick today. Gonna do it through Monday I think. Hoping I can bust through this plateau and FINALLY hit 40 pounds at weigh in.

teacherlady79 03-11-2011 11:04 AM

Old habits die hard.

I was doing pretty good yesterday--OP breakfast & lunch. Then I attacked some Thin Mints in the afternoon (looking back on it, I was pretty stressed). I wasn't even hungry! I didn't just have one or two--I had a whole sleeve of cookies! 16 cookies = 600 calories!

We were supposed to go out to a steakhouse for dinner for my husband's gma's birthday. I stayed home. I knew I would just overeat on steak and dinner rolls, etc. (good thing, too--turns out they also had a torte and tiramisu, which I LOVE).

I ended up having an atkins bar for dinner, in an effort to curb my calories for the rest of the day. No go. My stomach had been upset off and on all afternoon evening (probably from the cookies), so I started eating a few saltines to settle it. And then a few more. And then a few more.

I usually average about 1,000 calories a day; according to livestrong.com, I ate 2400 calories yesterday.

I plan to get to the gym early for my yoga class so I can walk some laps on the track. I'll probably squeeze in an extra workout tomorrow, too. And I'm going to be really, really careful about what I eat today and this weekend. I'm trying to "start fresh," but I'm still mad at myself.

2 steps forward and 1 step back is still progress, right?? :^:

Yes. Any progress is good. Don't beat yourself up.

Last night I had a fumble too. After I ate my OP dinner, I made one of those microwave warm delights for dessert. 210 calories! I was stressed from a long day, mad that I hadn't lost anything, and home alone. I knew what I was doing and still did it.

Question though, it seems these girl scout cookies are a big issue for you. Did you buy any? Whose are you eating? Can you cut them out of your life to take away temptation?

teacherlady79 03-11-2011 12:02 PM

I bought some, but I gave them to my husband to hide and eat for himself. I have no idea where they are.

It seems like everyone at work has them, and everyone is practically giving them away. The social studies supervisor gave the Thin Mints to me yesterday. After I ate one whole sleeve of them, I told him to either take the rest back and keep them away from me, or I was going to mash them and throw them in the trash in the bathroom (because it's more gross and less tempting, then). He took the box back.

It's like I just stop thinking when I see a box of gs cookies. I'm not quite sure what to do to avoid them. Maybe I'll just ask everyone to keep their cookies to themselves, for my sanity's sake.

Killing Demons

Has anyone thought of a way - or method - to kill the demons we face everyday? I noticed a few of us really have issues with some of the *favorites* that we think we can't say no to.

I was asking myself when I eat - how am I feeling? For the most part I don't eat when I'm depressed - I eat in social situations & possibly stress. For example walking away from the Krispy Kremes WAS HARD! And I don't even like Krispy Kremes!

So I know I was stressed about school & I still am - but what is something I can do to work through that and not unknowingly turn to things off program?

I only ask this because I am only on this program for 17 weeks - after that who is going to hold me accountable, if not me? I will take any suggestions!!

That is funny! And it's funny we're talking about these because I just read an article on fooducate.com about Girl scout cookies (Feb 11th), and it linked another article about two girls in Michigan, "doing research last fall on endangered orangutans in Indonesia as part of their Bronze Award project. They discovered the habitat of orangutans is being threatened by conversion of the land to the production of palm oil, an ingredient in Girl Scout Cookies." (Seattle Times, 2008).

I guess they were serious about not selling GS cookies, instead they sold magazines!

I talked to a counselor at my center about redirecting stress thoughts away from food with other things. Finding something else comforting and soothing, the things we want from comfort food in sticky situations. She told me to do what I can in my environment. At work and feeling stressed? I take a 5 minute walk outside and take deep breaths. Anywhere I can listen to my ipod? Listen to my favorite song. At home, a bath or my favorite soft slippers can help.

We have to train ourselves to deal with stress without turning to food. It is about redirecting. Find something else. A friend of mine is very naturally thin. She only eats at meals. When she is stressed, she stretches. She always has. I remember in high school, before a test, she would stretch her arms, shoulders, and back. She didn't want M&Ms to soothe her.

Food is for fueling our bodies, not for soothing our souls. Find something else that works for you. It is obviously not the taste (you said you didn't even like Krispy Kremes) you just wanted sweet and fat food to soothe you. What might work for you?
