Zeefaug-- please see the "sticky note" at the top of the MRC forum at this site:

3FC doesn't support the HCG program, so we're not really allowed to talk about it on this forum.

Slimquick

I swear I'm not trying to be a post hog--but today is the first time I"ve had much time to read AND post.

Anyway, I was considering starting to take the MRC-6 with my cortitrim, as my sister told me that the B vitamins can help rev up your metabolism. I stopped by the health section of my grocery store to see if they had something similar but cheaper, and I ran across SlimQuick, which I"ve seen ads for on TV and in magazines. I took a look at their Weight Loss formula, and it looked pretty good, so I'm trying it. I was just wondering if anyone else had tried it and what you thought of it.

According to the package, it includes Vitamin D, K, B6, B12, Calcium, and Folic Acid. I liked that it included calcium and folic acid (I'm trying to get as much FA as possible these days, to prep for trying to get pregnant this summer). It also includes green tea extract, caffeine, and some other herbal ingredients (yerba mate, ginseng, etc).

I was a little worried about the caffeine in it making me jittery--I have never been big on drinking caffeine--so I just started with the minimum dose this morning and skipped the afternoon dose. So far so good. I'll probably take it both times tomorrow to see if it bothers me.

I'm just hoping it will help me get to goal a little quicker, because I'm so ready to be DONE with this and working to maintain!

Ah, I did not know this! I did see the "sticky note: at the top and wondered how it fit in with MRC's HCG program, now it makes sense!!! I will go there to read the "sticky note" now!

Thanks for explaining this.

Doesn't change the fact that tomorrow I go in to talk about my menu planning! Yikes! Hope this works...I know it will, just depends greatly on how much discipline I have to stick with it!

Well, this is the first time I am not looking forward to a WI. We had to fly out of town this weekend for my husband's best friend's wedding. Rehearsal dinner was pizza & pasta. Wedding feast was cheesburger sliders, a mashed potato bar, cake, & cupcakes. Yesterday we dealt with delayed flights home and complete exhaustion. I got all my water in on Friday & Saturday, but not yesterday ($3.00 for a bottle of water at the airport!!!). I did the best I could given the circumstances. Back on track today, though. We'll see.

Question: can you do a balsalmic vinegar and olive oil for a homemade salad dressing? I brought that up to my consultant on the first interview and she said no because of the olive oil, but it's listed as an allowed condiment? But perhaps not on the HCG plan?

Very interested to find out what is allowed on the HCG plan. I'm supposed to be on it for the first 4 weeks or until I lose 20 lbs.

Thanks for the help!

Teacher Lady..
I do not know the product you are talking about, but please keep me informed.I bought two products last week at MRC and I wrote a check for $150.00. I need to find an alternative.. I am going to call Diet Direct and give them the ingredients of MRC & Corti Trim and see if there is something that is similar.. They have been real helpful in helping me find shakes, drinks, etc. that I can use on MRC Meta Slim, and will report back after I do this.

Good luck on the new product.

Ok, its time for me to get real. In the last three weeks, I haven't lost anything. I've got issues I need to talk out. Bear with me. :-)

1) I'm tired of the plan. I've been on since September. And though I usually (90%) of the time, am ok with my food choices, when we go out, I'm not. I was home with my family this weekend at our favorite breakfast spot for a lunch Sunday. I got eggs with veggies and fruit....and they have the best muffins. So I ate a muffin too. Then my mom got some muffins to take home! And so last night for dinner, I opted for a muffin and HNS for dinner. I want some more freedom to make the choices I want.

2) I'm happy with my 40 pounds lost. Its hard to stay focused on the plan when I daily get compliments and feel better. I can shop for regular clothes, I can work out easily, and don't have the issues I did when I was obese. I want to be "normal" which means getting to 140 at least. But it seems so far away when its taken 6 months to lose the 40.

So I've got two options: either be happy here and maintain, or get my butt into gear and stay totally on program and lose these dadgum 25 pounds. I guess I'm close enough that I can no longer eat bites and nibbles and lose. I'm learning that the hard way these last few weeks. I know I'm wasting money by having non-loss weeks....but I just don't have my head in the game right now.

I think my weeks end at the end of May...I could lose 15-20 pounds by then if I stick with it. I just need a swift kick in the pants, I suppose.

Thanks for being a place to vent and get insight and understanding. I need to know I'm not the only one feeling this way.

Again, only lost about 6 pounds in the last month, so they did my tanita and measurements today. I'm down 13 inches--which is fantastic, since I only lost 6 pounds!

The tanita was weird today, though. It showed my fat % was up a little, but my fat mass was down. It also showed that I lost a pound in muscle mass, which doesn't seem right to me. They tried to lecture me about making sure I'm eating all my protein and taking all my supplements to protect my muscle mass, and I told them I eat my full protein portion at every meal and max out my supplements everyday. They said to just keep doing that and they'll do another tanita in a few weeks--if I"m still showing muscle loss, they may switch me to metabalance.

My center said it is typical to lose 1lb of muscle mass with every 10lbs lost - I know this because last week my strip showed Large (20+), and normally it's just a trace. She said it could be because I'm burning muscle - OR that it's just concentrated since I weigh in very early in the morning. So she re-did my Tanita and took the beginning MM minus the current MM to the weight I had lost. I was only 1lb over, which she stated "wasn't too off".

I felt the same way about the program foods at first, and my boyfriend put it really simply for me - he said, "So what I hear you saying is that you're pissed off you can't eat the foods that made you 300lbs." It hit me hard when he said that, but it also sounded ridiculous! I thought, am I really complaining about it? LOL!!!! I think that was the turning point for me.

Don't get me wrong either! I do cheat, not intentionally, but if I have an urge to eat something, I try to eat something that can only help me. Like last night we had a huge party for my dad - we had fajitas for dinner and there were a lot of pies and cupcakes. While I wanted dessert - I opted for extra protein and ate more fajita meat plus a creamy Hot Cocoa.

I'd say (since it is already April practically) kick your own butt and get it in gear.. challenge yourself to see how much more you can lose before you go on maintenance... but those are just my thoughts :)

Milestone!

Well I finally did it! 38 days into program and I've lost 20lbs and 20 inches!!! I was able to sign the board this morning, and get my 20lb stone!

I am also in the lead for the March contest ($50 in metabucks)!! They give a sticker for bringing in your food diary, every pound lost, and if you attend class - I had 22 for the month of March .. and I still have to weigh in Thursday which is the last day to earn stickers!

Overall been a busy, but good week! :dizzy:

Britt -
I know I'm new to all this but I think you should stick with it. I haven't really had many temptations.. except Saturday, driving by Sonic during happy hour and not getting a Rt. 44 Diet Dr. Pepper or going by Andy's for a Root Beer Freeze.. it was really hard but I know if I make a mistake now, then what was the point in really joining.

I know you do a lot of exercising. So have you not lost weight because you're gaining muscle? Not sure how MRC measures this but I would think that has something to do with it. And I think that's healthy!

Anyway.. keep up the great work!

Did you write a letter to yourself at the beginning of your journey and have them put it in your file? If so I would ask to read the letter. You have done such an awesome job and are very fit which is awesome but do you really want to "give up and quit" before finishing? That has been my pattern in the past and I always eventually end up feeling like a failure and like I can't do something. As far as I am concerned anyone who can obtain a Zumba instructors certificant is a super woman and can do anything. YOU CAN FINSIH THIS AND YOU NEED TO FINISH IT WITHOUT CHEATING or you will have trouble in maintenance. You will get to slowly add things back in to see how your body responds. You will still need to be disciplined. So think about how you felt before, how quitting early will make you feel and then as of this moment stay 100% OP until you have reached your goal and completed stabilization! You can do this and it is worth the effort!

Britt, You CAN do this! You have come way too far to give up now! Don't get mad at me, but though everything you said makes perfect sense, at the same time, they are excuses!! You enjoyed putting the weight on, now it is time to pay the piper to get it off and though it gets tiring, it IS worth it. You have hit the area where the weight takes longer to come off, so it makes you feel like you aren't getting anywhere, but you ARE, just stick with it! We are all here to help and support you, so keep posting and we will help kick your butt back into gear!! LOL :p

I did a lot of thinking this week and have come up with this...
You are in control of your own destiny!
I was tired of the center trying to get me to start stabilization. I am not ready. I finally told the consultant today, after she asked what my goal weight was again, I will just keep loosing until one week before the stabilization party. I will do my paperwork then. Wherever I am that is my goal weight.
I weighed in on Tuesday and Wednesday last week then stayed away until today. I'm so glad I took a breather. I think I needed to not see them for a little bit. I stayed on plan and really tried to get creative with my foods. I tried making this fun again. In the beginning I was so excited to learn how to cook with more spices and how to prepare foods in different ways.
When I weighed in today it really showed. I was down 3.5 lbs. I haven't had numbers like that since the first few weeks.

RazorbackBritt~ Who are you doing this for? Are you really going to be confortable with yourself where you are? Do you think you would have a better chance at maintaining your weight if you are sort of happy or REALLY happy? Maybe just take a breather too. Don't go off plan, but leave the scale alone for a while. Just enjoy eating. We can enjoy eating healthy too, not just the junk.
Sending you big hugs and support!
Keep your chin up. Things will get better. Just keep reminding yourself that you are in control. You can do this!

TOTALLY understand how you are feeling-- I'm right there with you.

I felt this way last December, too, before my 1st contract was up, and I decided to stay on and try to lose some more (I wasn't near goal yet back then, though).

I feel the same way now. It was hard for me to stay positive about the diet when I was traveling last week--I wanted to enjoy a drink and a dessert here and there. Even last night at the movies, I wanted to eat Sour Patch Kids (which I only eat at the theater--not any other time) and not feel like I was failing.

I've also noticed the same thing you have--it's harder/impossible to have the little cheats and treats, which made me feel like I was normal--and still lose. At all. Which makes the diet harder and less bearable than it was even when I was 50 lbs heavier than I am now. :(

I don't know what to tell you. I've been yo-yoing the last month or so--lose 2 lbs, gain 1 lb, no loss, lose 3 lbs, gain 1 lb, no loss... And it's because I'll slide off the wagon, then recommit for a week or two and have a decent loss, then fall off the wagon again. I'm trying to find the motivation to just buckle down and GET DONE WITH THIS!

If you figure out how to do that, let me know. :^:

Seriously, though, that's why I'm finally turning to the pill supplements that I've rejected for so long--I think I'm willing to use their assistance to help me get through the tail end of this just a little faster.

If you think you can be happy at the weight you're at, then go ahead and stabilize. Just remember that it may be harder later on to change your mind and decide to go back to the diet than to just finish out now. Another option might be to change your goal weight so it's a little higher, but you maybe still have another few pounds to lose (I like round numbers, lol). Instead of 140, maybe 150. That might seem more attainable to you, and help you to buckle down and reach that.

This.

This is exactly what I was thinking yesterday. Maybe I just need to take a couple days or a week off. Not to go crazy or anything, but just to take a breather. Then come back motivated to lose like crazy until I'm done.

SlimQuick update:

Ok, so I started the slimquick yesterday. I took one pill with breakfast. A-ok.
I took it according to the directions today--on an empty stomach, before breakfast. I waited until I got to work to eat breakfast. It did upset my stomach a little. Not much, but like my stomach gets when I take prenatal vitamins on an empty stomach. I was fine once I ate breakfast. Just took my second dose (6 hrs later, after lunch). I can tell there's caffeine, but it's not necessarily making me jittery--just a little more energetic.

I did do some research on it, though, and the review I found online said that over 1/2 of each pill is caffeine (it doesn't list caffeine amts on the bottle--just the vitamin/nutrient amounts). The high dose of caffeine makes me (and made the reviewer) wonder if I'm really getting enough of the ingredients to have them make any difference, or if it's the caffeine doing all the work. Hmmm.

I don't know about it's effectiveness, though...I guess I'll see on my weigh ins this week. I weigh in tomorrow afternoon and, quite frankly, it will be a miracle (i.e., SlimQuick!) if I've lost anything since I ate a bunch of Sour Patch Kids at the movie last night. I'll at least stay on the SlimQuick through the week, until my Saturday weigh in. If I still don't notice any much additional weight loss, I'm giving up on it.

It was $30 for a bottle of 72 pills (36 days' worth).

I've searched through some old 3fc posts, and here's a couple other (cheaper) MRC-6 alternatives I found:
Nature's Life Super Leci-Thins: http://www.vitamincottage.com/super_...m_-p-6569.html
NOW Cider Vinegar supplement: http://www.iherb.com/Now-Foods-Cider...sules/506?at=0

I wasn't familiar with the ingredients in MRC-6 when I started looking for alternatives, and the SlimQuick doesn't have the kelp, chromium or lecithin that I guess MRC-6 has, but these other alternatives do. And, these others are cheaper. I may end up switching to one of them.

Thanks for the support. I need to remember I am in control. I wanted that muffin, I ate it and need to deal with it. I am also in control to stick with the program and keep losing. I don't think I'll be truly happy here. I want to be "not fat"....and I don't feel that way yet.

Thanks for the kick in the pants....gonna hit it hard and see where I am when my contract expires.

This.

This is exactly what I was thinking yesterday. Maybe I just need to take a couple days or a week off. Not to go crazy or anything, but just to take a breather. Then come back motivated to lose like crazy until I'm done.

Do it teacherlady!!! Just weigh in twice at the beginning of the week. Get your two weigh ins done then LEAVE! Leave all the stress, worry, frustration, everything. Leave it all on the scale and go back late the next week. Give yourself the renewal!

Hugs to you too!

Mariah, I bet you were a great cheerleader LOL You kicked my butt in gear and I wasn't even the one you focused the post on.
Razorbackbrit-when I stalled on the MRC way of life, I upped my water for a few days. I mean like adding 1 liter to my already 2 liter plus day. Giving up is failure, refocusing is NOT.

Teacher lady..
I checked with Diet Direct and at this time they do not have replacements for MRC-6 or Cortitrim. They do have something similiar to Phenatrim and they do have the fat and carb blocker... I will definately look into vitamin cottage and i.herb. com., both good companies..Thanks so much for sharing.

When I weighed in today it really showed. I was down 3.5 lbs. I haven't had numbers like that since the first few weeks.

Congrats on the loss and I think you have found a key here. I have worked very hard on focusing on what I can have and making it look and taste as fancy and gorumet as possible including drinking my supplement from a wine glass at supper. Most of the time my family eats what I do with a startch added, but last night I made them a family favorite "tuna and noodles" and for myself I grilled a sirloin with grilled mushrooms and asparagus severed over quino and topped with chives. It was amazing and my family actually tried to "steal my dinner". I love searching for recipies that I can change so that they are OP and hope that I enjoy it just as much in 6 months.

LOVE this! I have felt like a bit of a failure lately from not losing....but I'm just refocusing and getting back on the train. Thank you for this quote.

I enjoyed reading all your motivation posts for Razor and I will go back and read them again when I get home. Razorbackbritt, you are doing so well and I am glad they gave you the motivation to keep going. I felt that way when I got to 180 a few months back. I felt happy enough to maintain but I am glad I stuck it through. I had some weeks left, so I decided to go until my weeks ended.

Today I feel bloated and my pants are tight. It was not a good day. I keep chugging the water and hoping by tomorrow it will be better. Thanks again for the motivational posts. They helped me through this rough Monday!

YES!

My center hand-wrote "quinoa" and "edamame" on my menu under starches when I first started. About 1/4 cup is a serving, I think.

I had never had quinoa before, so seeing it as one of my (very few) options made me adventurous enough to try it, lol. :)

LOL :p

Thank you! I needed to hear that tough love. They are just excuses. The same ones I used to get overweight in the first place...and those don't have a place in my life anymore!

Razorbackbritt..
Don't ever think you are a failure. You have done so well and are an inspiration. You can do this.. Once you refocus, you will be fine, I know it.

Hey Everybody

Hey everybody. Haven't been on for a few weeks, since we were so busy getting our CD done.

I started the metaslim plan a couple of weeks ago, and losing weight. A little slow, but losing and not gaining, and that's a good thing.

Our CD is done, and that 15 lbs lost made a difference in the pictures, and I'm so glad. Check out our facebook, and you'll see me from size 18/20 in pictures of size 14/16. www.facebook.com/nevaehmusic

I hope to hit 20 lbs by next weeks after two months. Then I get my $20 gift card to Michael's. Yay!

How is everyone doing?

It was not on my list either, but then office manageer used it at cooking class and said that "the next printing of menus will included 1/4 c (cooked) Quinoa and also 1/4 c edimame (please forgive the spelling) on them as a starch option".

You could double check with your center, but I was thrilled.

Congrats on finishing the CD and on the weight loss, your pictures look beautiful! I'm hoping to sign the 20 lb board Friday.

Today is a new day. I will stay OP today!

Just thought I'd throw that out there. Maybe putting it in writing will help. ;)

Keep up the great work!
And you look SO familiar. I used to live in Orlando so maybe we ran into each other at some point.

Razorbackbritt 03-29-2011 10:47 AM

Well, even after my off program choices, I lost a pound. 41 lost total. I spoke with my favorite counselor about my feelings of hopelessness and slow losing. She recommended meta-protein. Anyone heard of it? Its a 2 phase plan and she said I'd have to do it for at least 2 weeks...one week of phase 1 and one week of phase 2. The menu was at each meal: 4 oz. protein from the chicken, turkey, bison, etc. group...and a serving from the cheese/egg group....one fat, and one optional fat (cream cheese, butter)....and veggies. No fruit, no bread/tortilla carbs.

I told her I was going to stick with my menu for a week or so, and if I'm still losing so slowly, I may switch to that.

Anyone done meta-protein? I had never even heard of it, on here or elsewhere.

I've never heard of it, but it sounds kind of like the plateau-busting plan I read about here:
http://www.lookcut.com/articles/the-...ster-diet.html

Interesting. I may have to ask about it if I'm still losing slowly by the end of this week.
