Hi everyone!
More photos and videos, for those interested, and even for those who aren't! http://s230.photobucket.com/albums/e...t=e7053434.pbw http://s230.photobucket.com/albums/e...rfirstwall.flv http://s230.photobucket.com/albums/e...t=2ef632ba.pbw http://s230.photobucket.com/albums/e...edroomwall.flv More to follow! Maya :) Ms. Ruthie, enjoy the cabbage!!!! |
HI Patty . . . welcome aboard the Medifast Train (although I'm kind of just riding along in the baggage rack right now -- hope to start for real at the beginning of the year). BTW, unlike MAYA, I hope you are from a warm place . . . seems like the only hope we Canuks have for a little warmth right now is to live vicariously through out 3FC buddies
And Hi to everybody else, too -- especially RUTH -- who is seeing things that I don't seem to be able to see about half an hour later. I see the signature in your profile SWEETP . . . but it is not showing on the post. Go to User CP at the top of the forum page and then click on Edit Options and then scroll down to the area called Thread Display Options and make sure there are check marks in the little boxes in the first section called Visible Post elements. I'm a MOD but not an ADMIN like Ruth so I don't think I can fix it for you. If you can't find it, or have any other problems, come on back and let us know. |

Well, Day 8 and I'm down one lousy pound. It does not pay to "cheat" on this program. The next two weeks I will do my very best to be right on programme. Otherwise, it's pretty stupid, right? I have a couple of social events coming up but, except for one, they are Open House type things where I can avoid eating by just not starting.
I promise to come in here and confess if I deviate. Right now I'm off to the gym for a gentle workout. I've not been there since October, I'm afraid! I may never come back. |
Here we go!
Let's try this again. You know it's Monday when you manage to delete your post instead of saving it.
Okay, Day 1 - had the peach oatmeal this morning. Hmmm, flavor isn't too bad but the texture is interesting. I weighed in at 212.2 this morning which is up a little from last week but that's to be expected after a weekend of eating and lounging around with my sister and our dogs. We had a great time even though the weather was yucky. I'd better get to work. I'll try to check in more this week. Maria |
'Morning everyone!
Welcome back Ms. Mk -- you'll get used to the oatmeal texture soon enough, and pretty soon you'll actually enjoy it! The thing that helps me get over the texture is that the first ingredients in the oatmeal is, in fact, OATS! So just think of it as super-creamy oatmeal! The first time I had it, I put it in my blender. TALK ABOUT WALLPAPER PASTE!!! Seriously! Hahahahaha! Hi Ruthie -- let us know how your gym time went! Don't worry about the numbers unless you are going at it 100% full on, hard core. That is when the program is most effective. If you are working it into your life, then any weight loss is good! Hi everyone else -- hope you are all keeping warm and toasty! Unless you are in a warm climate -- then I KNOW you are warm and toasty! Later, Maya :) |
Good morning - barely!
Ms Mk, the peach oatmeal definitely is really "interesting". I have a hard time with real oatmeal so am not sure I'll ever be able to hack the MFing stuff. iI actually did get to the gym this morning and realized when I checked my chart that I've been MIA since September! Oy! I did a gentle 3/4 hour workout and got the little "high" that I'd forgotten about. My trainer was there and made a couple of suggestions as she noticed the knee had deteriorated. I am determined to stick right to plan ONE DAY AT A TIME! |
OK all, so I tried the eggs today. What a cruel, cruel joke from MF! They LOOK like eggs, but they sure don't TASTE like eggs, at least, not to me. Fortunately, I have paired all my eggs with the Caramel Nut Bars (put them all in one basket, so to speak! hahaha) so IF I can choke the darn things down, I get a bar as a reward. I won't be re-ordering these any time soon, that's for sure. I like them LESS than STRAWBERRY SHAKES... need I say more?
On the up side, I got my second order of Capella drops today. I add these flavor drops to my puddings and shakes and hot drinks for interest. They are particularly nice with the cocoa (I've added 10 drops --yup, like LOTS of flavor -- of Festive Candy Cane flavor!) and with the banana pudding (10 drops of pralines and cream, and I'm in heaven!). Just to switch things up! Some of the drops seem to have more of an effect than others, and some I find I can't really taste, but if I TELL myself that I've added them, then I can fool myself into thinking I can taste them!!! Way to go for everyone who is on plan, and a special shout out to those of us who are having a bit of a toughie right now -- remember, it IS the season which makes it doubly hard, so forgive and move ON!!! Later, all Maya :) |
I never got used to the taste of the oatmeal. I have been on the program for about -- 70 days or so. Finally, I did myself a favor and threw away a few packets instead of trying to force myself to gag it down.
Have y'all tried the MF friendly pizza recipe from the MF boards? Pretty darned delicious, imho. I am eager to see the next pound go so that I will have lost an even forty pounds. Then I want to lose 44 pounds so I can say I lost 20 percent of my bodyweight. I guess I want the feeling of even numbers. But the real number I want is to see my ticker say "BMI 24.8" - normal. Someday, that will happen. |
Greetings fellow Medifasters!
Howdy everyone!
Thought I'd step in just to say hiya, and that I will be joining you soon too! Rock on! If this was in real life, we could have a secret handshake or signal we could do upon greeting each other  Maybe pretending we are shaking a small plastic jar. I did something I've never done before and I might be sorry, but I am going to try the full shakes plan, with check-ins with the doc. Medifast used to have this as an option they pushed, but now they want everyone eating a real meal in that Lean & Green, probably for more fat to keep the gallbladder healthy and for more fitting in socially, not to mention people probably got real squirrelly with a mostly or all-liquid diet. My issue was that I would, um, enrich the Lean & Green. I have issues, I know! ;) What is my damage!? :dizzy: Perhaps this is a nutty plan, but I'm going to give it a shot. Certainly eating real food moderately would be a more natural way to go about it, but I feel like a smack addict with food right now. Maybe if I take away all choices except what flavor shake, this will work out :D Ya know, maybe because it is the holiday season, but I am getting sick of shopping for food. Anyone else ever feel this way? The shopping, the cutting, the cooking, the pan and plate washing... yawn! I'm expecting my big box of shakes to come in Wednesday and to get on plan Thursday. I may develop an extreme attachment to my morning coffee now  With real cream, so my gallbladder remembers it has to do something daily. Might flip out entirely and eat Western Massachusetts too. Will keep you all updated ;) |
Welcome Sarah! I am eager to hear how the full shake plan goes for you. I think you need ten grams of fat a day to protect your gall bladder, all at one time. I'm worried about my gall bladder because gall bladder disease is so common in my family. So I make sure to get all that fat in my not so lean and green.

I survived Day 1!
I know, it doesn't sound like much but I had a lot of temptation. Staying away from inviting smells and food isn't much of an option for me. The girls had gymnastics last night and the minute I walked into the gym I smelled cookies baking upstairs....that was rough. I had a shake before I left work and was only a little bit hungry so I made do with a diet coke. Then, the husband called and said he was working late. He makes supper on Monday nights since we get home late so the girls and I had to do fast food. They chose Arby's - I got a grilled chicken sandwich with a side salad and threw away the bread as fast as I could. Those curly fries sure did smell good though (stick head in bag and inhale deeply). My favorite MF item yesterday was the orange creme shake - yummy...I could have had a dozen. :dizzy:
Sarah - good luck on the full shake plan and let us know how it goes. I'm not sure I could do it. I'm already looking forward to my salad tonight. To all you freezin' Canadians up there - down here in Tennessee we're forecasted to hit another record high of 77. Personally, I like it to be a little cooler this time of year. Our allergies are going to start setting off soon if it doesn't cool off but it's supposed to be 40's for the highs this weekend (that'll also send my sinuses into a roar but whatever). Have a great day everyone! Maria |
Maria, we're not freezing - in fact, we are going up to a balmy 30ºF today. Break out the sunscreen! The snow is here to stay.
Maya, thanks for testing out the eggs for me. I was considering them for the next order. Did you try mixing them with the strawberry shake to make a cheesecake? :yikes:  Lettinslenderin, I'm with you on the oatmeal although the breakfast cookies I made weren't bad. Next time I do them, I'll eliminate the small raisin cheat. I made them with four packs and, so far, they haven't gone moldy or stale. Sarah, good luck on the all shake plan. I can see the advantages of it - np planning and little mess. However, I'll be watching the map to see if western Massachussets starts to shrink. After the gym yesterday, I felt pretty good and placed my weekly call to the ortho surgeon to see if I had a booking yet. BINGO! The nurse said, you've waited long enough and booked me for January 24th. Yippee! In Ontario, wait times for elective surgery are very long (18 months at this hospital) so I was delighted. I've been on the wait list since Oct. 18 2006. So, by spring, I'll have a brand new knee and will be able to frolic in the sunshine with the lambs. Of course, this gives me even more reason to lose some weight. I changed my ticker this morning. I think 13 pounds is doable before then IF I REALLY STICK TO THE PLAN! The gym trip is going to happen at least three times a week. 7:30 is a good time but it's so darned cold and dark then. Gotta stop being a weather wuss, I guess, and just do it! Have a great MFing Tuesday! |
Hey everyone!
Way to go, Ruthie!!! Are you going to be OK during your surgery recovery? PM me if you need help -- you're just up the road, and I have a car and all...although after your particularly gruesome recipe suggestion...hahahaha...seriously, if you need anything, just PM me and I'll give you a hand with what you need! Hi Ms Berkshire -- the full-out plan sounds really, really tough! I would suggest that if you follow it, don't post that on the official MF site -- serious FLAMING will probably result, and I know that the official MF line is that they don't recommend this course of action, and they'll tell you as much. Ms. Letting -- I had my gall bladder out a couple of years ago as a result of a super low-cal/low-fat diet that was medically supervised. No fun, so your advice is well given. Ms. MK, if you get the capella marshmallow drops and add them to the orange creme shake and blend it with ice, I SWEAR to God that it tastes EXACTLY. LIKE. A. CREAMSICLE. One of my faves, too... Ms. Meowee -- are you doing OK???? Talk to everyone later, Maya :) |
Maya, I would actually suggest that she go ahead and post on the MF site about her experience with full shakes. People have got to share their experiences and not be intimidated by one or two flamers over on those boards. She's under a doctor's supervision, and it's really between her and her doctor. I may be wrong, but it is my understanding that 6 plus 0 is a MF approved plan, too, with a doctor's supervision.
I think that if people do not post about our experiences because of concern about what one or two very vocal posters might say, things have come to a sad state of affairs indeed. Maybe MF needs a separate sub forum for people on the 6 plus 0 plan? Hey, I lost forty pounds!! |
