Default My Kingdom for some candy corn!!!

Hi Everyone.....
I'm Susan. I'm new to posting but have enjoyed 3FC for a long time. Guess that makes me a lurker.

I'm trying Atkins for the first time. The carbo and sugar cravings are killing me. Ok so I've only been on it for like 20 minutes but still!!!

Actually I've been weening myself for about a week. Didn't think I could handle going cold turkey (pun intended).

I've lived on pasta for a LONG time and I'm finding it oddly difficult to eat all this meat. I understand the concept but still find myself choking on the thought of the fat content.

Guess I just wanted to introduce myself and ask if I could join in. You all have an awesome support group and I could use all the help I can get at this point.

*hugs*
Susan

Default Welcome, LowCarbnIt!

Good Morning and Welcome! So glad you escaped from the Kingdom of Lurkdom. You are right - lots of good and compassionate support in here.

Lots of us are on Atkins (or have been) and can really sympathize with those carb cravings. It does get easier! As to the meat issue, remember that your body is made out of meat, not pasta! You will be surprised how little fat you are eating if you make the right meat choices. However, fat does suppress hunger so go for it for the first while at least.

Please hang out in this Coop lots.

Welcome Susan,

Best of luck as you begin a lc lifestyle! I will admit, it does take a little mental reprogramming at first. Once you experience the benefits, you will know it is right for you.

Post often, it helps,

jenny

Default Hang in there!!!

Hi Susan

I have been on Atkins now for 6 weeks and love every minute of it. I don’t have cravings on this WOE, if I compare it with other diets that I tried I used to constantly be thinking of food THE FORBIDDEN ONES. I take a chromium supplement to help with the cravings and it really works for me.

I am also very new here but I would like to say welcome. If you were looking for some motivation and tips this is the place to be girl! Come rain or come shine they are always there with something positive to keep you going.

After a wile you wil realize that they are more than diet buddies but they become very special friends.

WELCOME!

Welcome to the low carb lifestyle! I know that you'll find lots of friends and tons of support here. I am doing the carbohydrate addicts lifespan program (CALP for short) and it allows you to have the pasta, one time a day in a balanced meal. But since you're new to the plans, please go to your local library and read, read, read and choose the plan you feel is right for you! And then come and join us on the daily thread (that's the one that has the day's date on it) and let us gt to know you--a more personal you!

SUSAN WELCOME!!!!

This is a great board with the best support you could ask for! I think you'll be happy that you came out the closet and decided to join us!

Low carbing is a great WOE. I, too, had the fat content questions in the beginning, but because you aren't eating any sugar, your body uses that fat for energy and because it does burn off so quickly, it uses what is already stored. The cravings do go away after about 4-7 days. It's different for everyone. Just say OP and you'll be just fine. And, if need be, come here and we'll help you along!

Good luck and welcome!

Another susan WWWHHHHOOOO HHHHOOOOO welcome girl!!

this is the place to be. i promise that it does get better after the first few days you will I MEAN WILL stop drooling every time you pass the bread drawer. it soon will be so easy that you will wonder how you ever ate pasta. and it will taste pastey to you. I am italian and believe me i thought that i could never give up the bread and pasta but i made macaroni tonight and well i had my meatballs without ebven a drool. it does not have the same taste anymore.

one thing you will notice is that at first you will seem to be eating huge amounts of food. that is normal as your stomach is used to being stuffed with large amounts of carbs. and the chromium and the fat will help with the cravings and feeling full. within a week or 2 you will slow down on the eating as your stomach shrinks down to a regular size. and the protien will give you a great hand in feeilg ful.

keep a few atkins bars in your pocket bood for emergency
do not let yourself get hungry especially at first or you will cheat
keep tuna in the pouch near by for those emergencies
remember you have the choice of what goes in your mouth.

and hang in there you will be goig strong very soon and all the bennies of this woe will comeabout!! no heart burn, less gass the headaches will be gone no shakey feelings as your blood sugars fluxuate, more energy, just to mname a few!!
