Day 5 and I've done my O and rode my bike all 5 days! Do I get a prize? What no cholcolate cake? Well I didn't get to water aerobics yesterday because of my hair appointment, but today will make 4 days this week. I usually don't do much on the weekends. sometime we go to the club on Saturday afternoons after we get off work, but not always.

Today is day 4 for me, I plan to garden and go workout tomorrow. DH and I were planning a bike ride on the trails, but it's going to be drizzly with thundershowers. Not particularlly a good thing if you're on a metal bike. LOL

hooray an exercise thread, I haven't done much of anything today yet, probably taebo when the boys take a nap. Yesterday I got my 2 mile run in, even though it was pouring rain. I used to hate running, until I found out I was doing it wrong, I was going too fast. Any other runners or walkers out there. It seems to be the least expensive form of exercise for me. Later, Judy

Judy - I'm a walker when it's not raining, I'd love to be a runner, but my body doesn't seem to agree with it. Too much boobage and bouncing for me. I ran 1/4 mile a couple of months ago, that's probably the most I've ran since high school gym class.

I used to think I couldn't run until I read a couple of books and discovered I was trying to go to fast for my fitness level. I had a preconceived idea of what a runner was like and quite frankly I was sucking alot of air. I then slowed down quite a bit and discovered that if I ran then walked in a predictable pattern, I walked before my lungs started hurting, then ran a little and walked a little. It works, before I knew it I was able to run farther. Walking is still a good form of exercise though I did that tonight and didn't run today at all. Judy

running??? not me!!! not with these knees!!!

and i've been avoiding this thread like the plague. oh, i've been exercising, but feeling guilty that i haven't been swimming much this week. i'm just so sick and tired of the cold. the cold weather. the cold pool. the cold gym that i couldn't motivate myself to get out after 8 pm to go swimming.

so, having said that, i rode at least 13.5 miles on teh exercise bike on tuesday, wednesday, thursday, friday [not monday; i hurt my back and had to go to the chiropractor]

and the weights workout tuesday and thursday, and am planning to do it today as well.

and i've planned a hike with the dog for this morning.

Hi,
I'm new to this thread, but here goes: I did my pilates today and might take a walk later if my baby feels better.

It's hard to exercise when your baby is sick, It's hard for me during the week when my boys are over because they are mostly preschoolers. I love my DGS's but there are times when I'd just love to go somewhere without added carseats. I guess I took up running because it is time I take for myself. Everyone has got to find an activity that they love, then pursue it. I know I love square dancing too. Have a great weekend, judy

I understand completely where you are coming from Sue. I don't think it is necessary to go out and beat yourself up going at a breakneck speed that is surely going to have your lungs burning, and have you gasping for oxygen. I'm the slowest runner for miles around, but at least I'm not dreading the prospect of getting out there. I have people ask me why I even bother if I'm not going to put more effort in it. What they don't understand is that I'm not interested in marathons or anything I run because I feel compelled to, and it relaxes me. I'm much more focused afterwards, and much calmer. When I get better at this sport maybe I'll rethink my position, now I'm enjoying the process. Later, Judy

Hi all, well haven't been able to do anything for the last 3 days, yesterday had the tummy flu and everything that goes along with that, and of course my arthritis decided to flare up again, I think I've got that under control. I looked at Dr A's book and took his advice. It seems to be settling down. The weather has been so bad lately that getting outdoors is a trial. I had been doing taebo until my setback, hopefully I'll get a chance to do that today, and maybe run a little tomorrow. Does anybody weight train? Judy
