Default I'm new

I am new to ATkin's and have a question do calories matter? I went to fit day and yesterday ate
1756 calories
79 gms of fat
237 gms protein
12 gms carb

I weigh 200 lbs am 28 female and 5'3''

It seems like too many calories to lose weight???
I am just worried that this is going to backfire and I am going to gain 50 lbs

Welcome to the 3FC Low Carb Forum. There is lots of support, ideas and general foolishness in here.

On Atkins' Induction, calories really don't matter. You are switching your body over to a new way of burning fuel and will not gain weight if you follow the plan.

Remember to drink your water - you need 100 ounces perday. Some chicks also take a potassium supplement because of the diuretic nature of this plan.

Another piece of advice, eliminate diet colas, protein shakes and bars - they cause most of us to stall on Induction.

Good luck but rely on skill and be sure to keep us posted with your progress. Feel freee to join us on the Daily thread where we kind of coffee and chat about life in general.

I found a calorie needs calculator, I'll post the link:

http://www.westfloridahospital.com/HC_CalNeeded.asp

To maintain your weight you need 2401 calories a day,
to lose, eat 500 less calories (1900) is what is recommended. I'd say anywhere from 1600-1900 would be appropriate.

Oh yeah, I forgot to say "Welcome!"

Default Holy Moly!

I went to that calories needed calulator and to maintain my weight I need to consume 3351 calories per day! I must be eating a HUGE amount of empty calories right now! WHOA!

Thanks. The eat all you want but only when hungry is a little vague for me. obviously if i'm overweight I am not good at not eating when hungry. The guide for calories is helpful.
