Praying for us all, I guess we should give extra thanks for our health right now. A friend of mine a great Christin, crossing the street on Friday night, was hit by a drunk driver, She is in hospital, leg broken several places, and they don't know if she has any brain damage. Knowing Pam, I can hear her say "I forgive him."

Barb, Alvin is doing great!!!

My tree is up!! took all of about 30 min, I dont have alot of decorations. Just been tidying the rest of the living room this morning. Papers and mail seems to get piled up for some reason.

Last night at MickyD's was a blast, the kids had a great time. I love how kids can make friends so quickly with other little kids.
The littlest one, 3yrs old......starts heading for the door, holding his behind, and yells at his dad to hurry up, they dont have much time!!! Poor little kid is just so serious all the time. Well, he didnt make it. The undies went into the trash, and about 20 min later they emerged from the bathroom, semi cleaned up lol All in all everyone had a good time!

I think today, my daughter and I will head to the movies to see the new Wild Thornberry's movie. Hubby will watch the store, and then a nice relaxing evening.

in and out of macy's in 20 minutes yesterday, another 10 in Fortunoff, another 10 in Sports Authority, and this morning a quick drop-by at Barnes and Noble, followed by the grocery store and I'm DONE! Only some wrapping left to do, which I don't mind, and I might even bake some cookies this afternoon! Whew...

Eating isn't bad, and I'm keeping up the Leslie Sansone 3 mile walking tape, so I feel pretty good. My weight, of course, is unchanged, but I don't even care at this point. I feel like I'm at least on top of it, and maybe won't gain if I have some eggnog(READ:scotch) or pie(READ:merlot).

What else? we have my SIL home in a hospital bed in her own bedroom, the out of town brother came early for Christmas and is getting her cable tv hooked up, and putting some comfortable chairs in there, and decorating for Christmas- we will just hang out with her alot and keep her comfortable and happy. She loved the well wishes and prayers from you all, thank you again! The power we have here is enormous!

Jiff, my sympathies with dealing with your Mum as I went through much the same thing with my Mother. I could tell you lots of stories, funny at the time but not in the long run. Hang in there, Girlie.

Last night's carolling was great! Instead of walking, someone borrowed a Christmas float from a neighbouring town and we toured the Village in that. It was much appreciated on a windy and cold night.

Today I will do a bit of prep for Christmas Eve post-Service party stuff. It will be at friend Bob's this year because I'm a crip but I am still doing some of the food. Pork meatballs with peanut sauce, smoked salmon spread and a bean dip are on the list for prep today. Bob, who is a male Martha, is making potted Lobster and some jellied wine thingies. He is into Victorian cooking as suits his elegant house.

OK - out of the Church duds and into the pants and t-shirt and tackle the kitchen. A very tall friend (6'7") is coming over after lunch to do the high-up decorating for us.

Wow! So busy around here. Let me think. . . . . . Oh, yeah. Deep fried turkey. I have to eat it at every holiday. Somehow, someway, my dd's grandpa makes it black as charcoal and dry on the inside. Anyway, there's this huge fryer that is set up outside and it takes about ten men to work it. That's really all I know!

Family woes, I am feeling your pain. My next oldest sister came to visit yesterday from Asheville, NC. She drives 3 hours to get here, stays one hour, then drives 3 hours home. Anyway, she is a perfectionist. As you all know, I am NOT. However, the house is presentable and she was gushing on and on because my boyfriend cleaned it. Hello? Do I live here????? Just because he hangs around a couple days a week, he gets all the credit??? Anyway, I was waaaaaaaaaaaaay ready for her to leave.

It's wrapping a couple gifts today, I am officially done with shopping. Making a covered dish for a Christmas Eve party I just found out about, that's the extent of my cooking. We are all going to several homes this year, so we decided not to cook for ourselves. Saves me time and $$$, which is always a good thing.

Obviously those of you who have never heard of deep fried turkey have never lived in Tennessee!!!! Neither have I til 2 years ago!!!!!

You take a propane turley fryer it is huge and you hook it to your gas grill propane tank, you fill it will 3 gallons of peanut oil...yes I said peanut oil. Wash the turkey and rub it all over with spices. Hang the poor bird from a big hook and it it goes into 375 degree peanut oil. It takes 4 minutes per pound, so our 21 lb bird took 1 hours and 15 minutes. The skins gets dark and crispy and it seals in the juices...it is awesome. ONce you have a deep fried turkey you will never want to have a baked one again.....we will have to do a get together in TN and I will make DH fry us up a couple.....



Going out to dinner tonite to somewhere kid friendly - the parental units leave to go back to FL tomorrow!!! and we have not had any major disasters this visit!!!!

I can't imagine deep frying a turkey. You'd have to use a canning pot wouldn't you? And wouldn't the outside be burned to a crisp long before the inside was done? Details...I need details.

it is an amazing thing, they sell turkey fyers in Walmart and Bass Pro Shops and places like that, they are made by Brinkmann. IT looks like a huge stainless steel stock pit and sits on a propane burner thingy. The skin gets really crisp and the inside is juicy, everyone fights over the skin. It only takes about 3-4 minutes per pound, compared to 30 minutes per pound in the oven so it cooks so fast it does not have time to burn.....

I love fried turkey. We have one every Thanksgiving. My brother cooks it for us. It seals in the spices so you get a nice spicy flavor instead of the turkey/poultry flavor. Very nice for a change!!!

Yep, in the south you can fry ANYTHING!!

Kroger (grocery store) also sells the fryer thingies. A couple of years ago it was all the rage. I have not tried it, but from what I hear from those that have, it's pretty darn good.

Anyway, word on Pam is that she is going to be O.K. thank you God.

Now I need prayers for a nephew, Donald is only 42, we just found out that on Wednesday gone, he had a massive heart attack. He lives in PEI. His mom was so busy since she just got a moment to let us know what was going on.

We put the used oil back in the plastic container it came in and use it again one or two times. Then we take it to our friends who own a restaurant and they get rid of it with theirs......

Rachel is right, we reuse the oil a few times, and then just get rid of it. Yummy stuff, I tell you!

Good evening everyone--YAAAWN! I have forced myself to stay awake to right my system again, but you know, I am just barely functioning as it is. I will feel better in the monring after a wonderful night's sleep.

Rachel, I am now a security guard on the weekends only working midnight to noon. It's in a big empty factory that shut down and are in the process of moving out or disposing of the equipment. The building is up for sale and we are basically there to watch over the remaining equipment. Got the job primarily to fund my quest to go back to school to get my ECE and to pay off a few bills. It's easy and quiet, no brain work really and I have a lot of time on my hands--the very thing a mother of a busy 3 year old needs!

Rachel, could your BIL teach my FIL how to fry the damn thing without turning it into a charcoal briquette? I swear, it's got soot coming off onto your plate! Other than that, he stays out of the kitchen, so go figure!

We have been conned into cooking for Christmas. I swore up and down and round and round that I wasn't going to, but sis begged and I caved! Oh, well, ham was on sale 59 cents a pound, so life is good. BF will do the actual cooking. Have I mentioned he won't let me near the kitchen? Hey, my cooking is so horrible it comes with a warning label anyway. I will be doing salad and dessert, he will do the complicated stuff.
