jiff's BAAACKK!!!! and yes, princess dear... get going!!!! and it's all fine to start next week after that icky TOM goes away, but THEN....

and i'm so glad to be out of there.. i'll post more on peachie's thread, but everything went well. thank goodness. nothing serious. just extremely uncomfortable and dehydrating.

as for pies, ruthie. i TOO am a pie queen. my parents have both said that i make crusts better than their own mother's did!! and dad said that i made a certain italian pie better than his mom ever did!! now THOSE were real compliments.

but i don't make them anymore. no one's around to enjoy them but if there were ever a chance for me to make pies that others would actually eat, I"M YOUR GIRL!!!!!!!

Regarding the constipation issue~~I too, tend to be that way. When I started taking the psyllium in the cranwater i got constipated at first. I kept drinking alot and started taking magnesium tablet supplements (it's the active ingredient in Milk of Magnesia). That has made a world of difference. Because it relaxes the muscles, it also helps taking a dose at bedtime to aide sleeping.
Give it a try.

Oh, gosh! Here I thought the Psyllium in cranwater would HELP my constipation. I'm just not used to being so bound up in the mornings (no nothing is sacred in this forum. ) I just bought some of the Psyllium today and I've just finished making my cranwater. I have bought the flax seed oil and had some in my salad today. I've also started taking Evening Primrose Oil. I bought some whey powder for the morning fruit smoothie. I have still set the target date of Monday to start this Fat Flush Plan but I'm trying to ease myself into it gradually. I think one of the reasons I have trouble when starting a new weight loss plan is that I jump in head first and then reality strikes and I get discouraged. As I said before, I think the most difficult thing for me will be giving up salt. I've cut back a lot but still not to zero.

Meanwhile, I think what I'm following now could be called a modified Atkins fat fast...or is it fast fat? Whatever. Here's how my menus have looked so far today.
B:
4 bacon
2 eggs with 1 tsp cream cheese

S: (and this is gooooood)
1/2 avocado mashed up with 1 tbsp Hellman's mayo, 1 tbsp real cream cheese and 1 tbsp medium (or hot) salsa sprinkled with 1 tsp sunflower seeds and served with crispy pork rinds. I found I was nicely satisfied with just 6 pork rinds and this guacamole-like mixture. Very nummy.

L:
1 cup chicken salad with extra mayo, some celery & green onion, served with about 8 pork rinds. Side salad of mixed greens, a tiny bit of tomato, radishes, green onions and dressed with flaxseed oil and apple cider vinegar. To use up the dressing after eating the salad, I poured it over the chicken salad. Can't waste that expensive flax seed oil.

D:
Pork chop breaded with crushed pork rinds (those are handy little devils)
Mock mashed potatoes (made with cauliflower)

S:
small portion of L.C. Peach/Blueberry Ice cream (I made it myself)

I'm trying to increase my fat to about 75% of my daily calories while keeping calories in the 1,500-1,700 a day range. I want the carbs to be about 5%.

Tomorrow is WI so we will see if it has been working. Keep those fingers, toes, knees, elbows and (in the case of Ruth) boobs crossed for me.

OH, Samsgrandma, I'm so happy for you. You must have been posting the same time as me. Congratulations and don't worry about the knitting, crocheting thing. Most grandmas these days don't do that stuff and just try to spend quality time with their grandkids. They will love you whether or not you make them bootees and bonnets.

Hello LC buddies!

How has everyone been??? From the bit of catch-up reading I've done, I bet I can tell what Pooky's been doing!!! lol

The kids and I (SH stayed home) went on vacation to Disneyland for 4 days then down to the beach near San Diego for 5 days. Except for worrying about my mom, it was great! (FYI: mom is recovering from having 1/2 of her tummy removed due to ulcer scar tissue buildup - she had been doing great but took a turn while I was gone)

We left on a Tuesday and mom had started a temp and felt terrible on the Saturday right before that. I took her to the doc and she did a mess of tests and determined that mom had an UTI. She went on antibiotics. My sis called on monday evening and asked if she should come and stay with mom til she was better (Tracey - remember lipo sis? - lives a couple of hours away). I said yes, it would make me feel better since I would be gone. Wednesday morning mom wasn't doing so good and Tracey called doc - doc said bring her in. Tracey went in to get mom ready to go and noticed a HUGE lump under the entire incision area. Area was angry red and hot to the touch. This area had looked textbook perfect on Monday - the doc was almost bragging about what great work she does!!! Tracey left the room in a hurry to get her stuff to leave the house and then help mom. LOOK AWAY NOW IF YOU GET SQUIMISH! She came back in to help mom dress and about an inch long area of the incision had split OPEN and fluid (not blood) was gushing out!!! Tracey had mom hold a towel (that got soaked very quickly!) on her tummy and hightailed it to the ER. They were ignored by ER staff since it was a zoo in there that day - they didn't really look at it and just declared "Oh, we have a little leaker here, huh?" Tracey was rather freaked out if they called what was going on with mom 'a little leak'! To make a long story short, mom when back into the hospital for another 10 days but she is doing better now. What a horrible nightmare! Makes you realize that truth is certainly stranger than fiction! Poor thing is just skin and bones now:110 lbs. But the good news is that she survived her SECOND bout with death!!! I was ready to pop back on a plane and head home at a moment's notice but Tracey convinced me that mom would hate for me to disrupt the kids' trip.

Gosh - so much drama! JIFF, STEP AWAY FROM THE JERKY! (I love the stuff but don't think I will ever eat it again without thinking about what grief it caused you)

Chat at ya guys later---

Kel

Wow, what news from everybody! I had another long day at work so I didn't even make it here officially on Thursday. It was depressing tonite, I left work at 8:30 and it was already dusk. Oh, I LOVE summer and long days! I don't really like night time, except for being able to use nice lighting! I have white icicle lights permanently in my living room bay window so I can get the glow off them if I really want it. I don't turn them on very much, don't want to frustrate the neighbors! And no, I don't even like to sleep in the dark and I get completely desperate when the power goes out!

Sil, thanks for asking...but I don't go to the cardio for another month. I called them to see if they had an earlier appointment and they said Oh, you are down for the 13th of SEPTEMBER. Aaaaccckkkk! No I wasn't, I knew it was August because when she told me the date I cried because it was a whole month away, and that was a month ago. Soooooooo, I get to wait another month. At least I can lose more weight in time!

Linda, the flax seed oil should help. If you don't like the flavor then try adding it to a smoothie. I can't taste a drop that way. Brisk walking seems to help it too!

Ruth, I've been trying to cross my boobs. It almost works! You are so amazing. Did you learn that at the fair?

On a lighter note, Cody asked me tonite if I could still breastfeed babies. ( I think he will be a breast man when he grows up, he sure asks a lot of questions about em!) I said no, that I didn't have any more milk. He says 'Well can't you go outside and eat some grass?"

Off to bed soon, I am taking a long weekend from work to ...work. Site work and housework!
