Good morning ladies...I have been MIA lately, absolutely no time....busy at work and at home, DH called me yesterday and asked me if I like INdigo Blue or Red better, I said Why and he said I am at the Chevy dealer buying you a new truck...bear in mind I have a 2000 Silverado and don't need a new truck except we have kind of outgrown it as the kids get bigger...so we are now the proud owners of a 2002 Indigo blue Chevy Avalanche....it will be nice to have the extra room on the trip to FL, and he traded in our van and the truck so our payment is actually less.....but I did love my truck.....
My parents were hear last weekend it was a nice visit. They are in Charleston at my brothers as we speak, however I feel certain it will not be as nice of a visit as my brother is currently all whipped up about some woman and it has always been all about him!!! Won't bore you with the details!
I have been slowly catching up on all the posts. We are all so busy. I hope all the trips to Orlando and Disney are happy for everyone that is going...I lived in ORlando for 14 years before moving to TN.....if you get a chance eat at Charley's Steak House on Orange Blossom Trail!!! It is the BEST!
Rachel, I've been wondering where you disappeared to. Hope things are calming down for you!
DH had to deliver some equipment to a job this morning so I had a few quiet minutes to post and read. I have to work at the ice house today and am hosting a surprise 60th B-day party for "an old broken down cowboy", as he calls himself!
The first annual Official Sheridan Family Reunion is underway! We have had several sad funerals over the past four years as the older folks died. We kept saying "We must get together on a happier occasion." Well, this is it!
Last count, 172 Sheridan's (counting married to's) will be here this weekend. Tomorrow is the highlight when my cousins (1st once removed - thanks LindaBC) - Martha and Alan renew their vows (25 years) in our dear old Church - it held 110 squeezed in for the 190th anniversary - we'll see what it holds tomorrow. The hunky cousins - once and twice removed - arrive in 10 minutes to move my newly tuned piano to the Fair Hall for party time. Baking is all done, I am loaded with breads and cheeses and cold cuts for drop ins today who want to tour the old Sheridan house and barn. The Family Tree is more or less together in draft with pencils and yellow stickies for additions and corrections. I guess we could have spent 6 months to a year planning this event but it's going to happen anyhow! Aunt Rose, who is 90 on Aug. 9, is going to have more fun than anyone else!
Just finished baking 80 little biscuits for the strawberry shortcakes which we will have at the lunch at sister Joan's on Monday. The strawberries are ordered and will be ready by 10 that day. Anybody want to join the hulling party?
So, if you are bored this weekend, come to Delta - it's gonna be a blast!
Sounds like everyone is so busy this weeknd and where am I?--IN BED!! I have a NASTY summer cold and my head feels like a rock and my nose is plugged. Pretty much all the great plans I had for today are gone out the window. Lying in bed sweating like a dog and complaining it's cold when in actuality it's over 80 degrees. Soooo, here's hoping tomorrow is a better day!
Ruth, that sounds like so much fun. Please tell us all about it.
Pookie, you poor thing. Hope you feel better soon.
Jif, how is your friend doing?
I have a slight runny nose and my asthma is flaring, just what I need three weeks before surgery. I haven't had so much as a sniffle in a year and now this. Hopefully it will just go away as quietly as it came. And quickly!
My boys went to the beach with their church group, but my daughter stayed home sick. She has had pneumonia four times in the past three years. Never sick a day in her life before that. So, when she starts coughing I start worrying. Hopefully she won't go down that road this time.
I am working today, actually leaving for the car wash in a minute, then off to work. Trying to get in as much work time as I can before surgery.
I actually lost 5 lb this week. Well, last week I gained 2-1/2, so I guess I could call it a net loss of 2-1/2. Whatever the case, I finally got under 180. I really wondered if I would ever see the day, so am very excited.
Now that the kids are finally out of school, am hoping to increase the exercise. Last week got absolutely none. That made me feel pretty bad. Lethargic, sluggish, yuck! Between their end of the year activities and my increased work hours, it just wasnt going to happen though. This coming week will be different.
dawna.. haven't found out too much info about my friend, except that she's home, and that her husband read her the riot act!!! [enough of this fooling around and taking risks, do what you're supposed to do and get yourself together and stay healthy. you went through all of this and you're screwing it up by eating the wrong things and not drinking enough... etc etc etc.].
hmmm. maybe i know more details than i thought i did...
Hey Ruth I love strawberries. but I am heading south tomorow. or I could be there in short order. ) Have a great day!!! try to relax and recruit all the help you need DO NOT TRY TO DO IT YOURSELF!!!
POOKY {{{HUGS}}} I feel so bad for you. I hate colds let alone in the summer!!
Scooby glad youare home (back) I was wondering where you had dissapeared to. take it easy for a while it sounds like you are sure busy. I like that indago blue too!!
Janice i must have missed something a long time ago. what is the ice house??
Can you hear me singing all the way from SC? I had a wonderful, marvelous, fabulous, heavenly day! Drove down to Charleston for the 1st time in 10 years, did the market, went to Sullivan's Island, ate at a wonderful seafood restaurant. All with no whining and crying and shouting from my family. My friend from work and I had a blast and this only reinforces my resolve to go to GA next month! So I'm tired and I have sand in my shoes and I'm for bath and a lie-down on the couch to veg out all night! Ya'll have a good one!
Yeah... I finally got Alvin to the health club this afternoon. Now that he has seen it I think it will be easier to get him to get in a routine. He walked in the water for about 30 minutes. He sat and rested some inbetween, but still I thought that was great...
I weighed this morning and I did loose all the weight that I gained while I was in CT. I came home from the health club hungry and decided to splurge and cooked a big thick steak outside on the grill. It's the first outside cooking we done in several years. I don't really do it very well, and Alvin hasn't been able to go out and do it. But it turned out wonderful. I cooked it a little too done for my taste, but it was still good, and I'll know better next time. Then I had a great salad to go with it, and a glass wine.
Last night was my BUNKO night and Alvin actually got out on his own. He went to an antique auction and had a great time. He bought me a beautiful gold and diamond bracelet. (just a few small diamonds, but really pretty) and a neat cameo broach and earring set.
Are any of you into antiques? It was our passion, until Alvin got to where he wasn't able to go anywhere, but now that he;s feeling better we are getting involved with antiques again. And the best part of it this time is, we no longer have an antiques store, so everything we buy I get to keep for the house!!!
Tomorrow I have a wedding shower to go to. It's for a cousin of mine and she's about 40 years old, and this is about her third or fourth marriage. I asked wasn't there rules on how many showers you could have, and my mom laughed and said, it just depends on if you can find anyone to give them for you. Hummm, think I could get one for putting up with Alvin for 38 years? I think I deserve something
I am feeling a LOT better than I was yesterday--the headache is gone and just have a slight runny nose and tingly ears. I think I sweat the whole thing out yesterday! Still going to take it easy today--will get some stuff done but I don't want to push it.
Barb, so glad dh made it to the health club--as soon as he makes it part of his routine the easier it will be for him!
Good, sounds like you really needed that day of fun! Hope you had a peaceful sleep!
Sue, thanks a bunch Dh was a star yesterday--he took care of the house, Miree and made me supper!

Whizzing by - so to speak! So far the Family Reunion thing is going well. Today is the major event. I have to print out the Family Tree and stick it together so folks can qrite in new stuff.
Made a very interesting discovery - my first cousin once removed has known my son for 20 years and they didn't know they were related! It was a real OMG! situation at the buffet yesterday.
The Church is looking loverly - I took over the last baskets of peonies and other flowers just now. Now a bath, a church dress, Church and over to the Hall to meet the helium balloon guy!
And YES - I really am having fun. Might even do this again some time!
Ruth - sounds like you are having a great time! I am so glad!
I am skipping church today! Mind you I never do that, and I am trying not to feel guilty but we have company coming Wednesday for the eekend and my house is a wreck! I need to do some serious cleaning...and picking up
DS got his 2nd stripe on his first Karate belt yesterday so he is very excited! He is 5 and just so cute....
Charleston is great goodforme - my brother lives there and I love it!
Ageoldie - we do antiques, my grandmother was an antique dealer before she retired and we have a bunch of nice pieces from her, my parents have the good stuff tho - cranberry glass is my favorite.!!!
Well I guess I will get started with my day! Everyone have a good one!
Good morning, chickies. I went to a great backyard party yesterday, lots of guitars, a banjo (that was my DH), a mandolin, 2 fiddles and assorted harmonicas. 3 of 4 of my girlfriends are incredible singers and all 4 of them were there yesterday. My brother and sister (Sarah's Mom) were there, too. It was just a great time. I've known 1 of these women for well over 20 years, one for 30 years and my very best friend; Soozie, for over 40 years. We were in first grade together and we've been best friends for every year of our lives since then. I am so truly blessed. ))
