Talking Done

I am done...

...trying to stay OP

.....wondering if I can ever stay OP

....feeling guilty because I am not OP

.....searching for an OP that works

......not enjoying every day because I feel guilty every time I eat.

from now on I am going to BE REASONABLE.

continue to go to the Y and exercise 3-4x per week. stop eating when I am not hungry and be conscious of what my body says and drink tons of water(as I have been doing). I have to get off this GUILT roller coaster, I think it is making matters worse.....I hope i can stay in the group..even tho I am no longer on a diet!!

Good for YOU Scooby!!!!

I am with you on the Reasonable front! AND! The guilt is for the birds, who needs it? It is an unproductive and often upward scale spiral. BAH HUMBUG!

FINALLY! The making progress, not striving for rigidity and perfection AND being as kind to yourself as you would a friend! Took me YEARS to learn this, with a lot of help from some very special gals here!

YEA FOR YOU!

I second that motion! Peachie is right guilt does not help things at all. Do what you feel comfortable with, and make conscious choices and you'll do fine and feel a lot better about yoursellf, (and then you might just find it easier to stay on a program!)

Default Hear! Hear!

(or is that Here! Here!?)

I was in that same place a while back, Scooby2! I just wasn't in the right state of mind to be 'gung ho' low carb and felt guilty when I ate stuff. Then I just chucked the whole thing for a while and felt worse! It is a much better plan to just think of this as a way of life and realize that you need to be realistic to live and eat in this world. If I try to deny myself EVERYTHING that isn't OP, I become miserable and obessed. That isn't a healthy thing. So I just try to do the balance thing when I indulge (you know, balance it out with some protein) and exercise some control so I don't pig out. It also works for me to do the really bad indulges (chocolate is my carb of choice) late at night before bed cuz then I sleep off the carb coma and cravings and start fresh in the morning. Since I been working my plan this way, things have been much easier. I feel more motivated to eat healthier and add some activity to my day, every day.

Good luck, sweetie! And don't stop posting/reading here - These wonderful people love us no matter what we are eating!

Rachel, hon, it's the same way for everyone I think--you just get to a point where you just don't want to even do ANYTHING, let alone stay OP. I'm glad that you decided to just try to eat right, I think in the end that's all we can strive to do! We know all there is to know about eating low carb, so why are we struggling? Because we live in the REAL world, not a theory or a plan printed in a book. The real world has indulgences, it has times where life isn't perfect and sometimes Haagen Daaz is the only answer. It doesn't mean we're bad people or we're not commited or anything like that--we're just human! So good on you for figuring out that if like was like a plan, gee then everything would be perfect because no one would make mistakes. I am doing the same as you Rachel--eating as healthy as I can, eating smaller portions and not beating myself up over enjoying my food! Doesn't mean I've given up on low carb, all my choices will be low carbish but I also refuse to have a plan dictate to me what is or isn't right for me at a certain time--only I know that!
