Default The Daily - Monday, May 6

Up and at it, Chickies! Another week and it certainly looks like Spring around here - finally. Sorry to have been such a weather whiner but the lousy rain and cold and snow really got to me.

Garden cleanup continued yesterday - I semi-restored my herb wheel in the Dog Garden and the dogs now munch on garlic chives and lemon balm. I must get some parsley in there for their breath.

Wonderful Gail comes this morning and just in the nick of time! I have a "decorating consultant" coming this afternoon and don't want her to think my kitchen has an earth floor! I am getting the couch in the back room recovered - the one that Lucy tried to eat cushion by cushion. The fabric is 40% Olefin so should last until my funeral party for sure.

Today I am going back on CALP for a while as I seem to be gaining back the weight I've lost. Yes, I still weigh daily - hard to break a 50 year habit! Anyhow, water and protein. I have eight pretty stones on my kitchen window ledge and will move them from side to side as I glug my water. DH is gonna nag me too.

Catch you later - bacon and eggs coming up! That'll get DH out of bed!

Good Morning Ruth and all those to come!

Well I can certainly tell Miree has hit the 3 year mark--she hasn't been listening very well and has decided that she knows everything there is to know and she doesn't need to listen furhter--grrr.... ahh the joys of parenthood. Yesterday's birthday party was a lot of fun for the kids although Miss Miree had a problem not being the center of attention for once! Now her birthday is coming up and she'll revel in all the attention.

Ruth, I am enjoying the spring tems this morning too--as a matter of faxct I'm going to take full advantage of it by starting my carpet cleaning! The carpet looks atrocious so I know it is time. I will hopefully have it all done by the end of the week--trust me it wil take that long because I have a HUGE house (2300 sq. ft) and most of it is carpeted! Little parts at a time and it should get all done. Today is the dining area.

Have a good one!

Morning ladies,

Back to the old grind after such a difficult week last week. Work can be good to keep your mind off of things.

We had an absolutely great weekend here, it was in the 70s and sunny. Today showers are expected, and that is ok, actually we are supposed to have showers until Thursday. That still suits me fine, as I will be a single mom for a few days. DH is heading to Chicago for a conference. If it rains all week that means I will not have to drive the boys to baseball practice and soccer practice.

Ruth, I read your weekend post, sounds like a lovely way to start your day on the porch with your dear girls. My mom and sister purchased a house basically because of the large fenced in yard for their girls (an Australian cattle dog and a carin(?) terrier).

Pooky, so sorry about your job woes. I think several of us have told you that you need to be in the interior decorating business. I know you would already have plenty of work just taking care of us gals here!

have a great day!

Default Good Morning!

I have a million things to do today and no energy to do them!

The weekend is over and I still am packing away winter clothing and finding the summer stuff. DH mowed the lawn yesterday while I worked inside. The lawn was looking like a hay field and I didn't know if I'd get to it or not.

We have a cardinal outside that must be a singing fool. He's beautiful, but a bit manic. He starts singing about 5:30AM and never quits! I can't believe it, but I'm getting tired of hearing his song.

We'be decided to buy the new dining room furniture, although I'm not certain what to do with the old stuff. I have no idea how much to ask for a solid oak table and six chairs that need refinishing badly, if I do sell them.

Well, I'm off to fill my water jug and do some cleaning. God bless!

Good morning all,

Have to say, got a chuckle out of the Miree description. Sounds all too much like my 14-year-old! Luckily, she's just as cute at 14 as she was at three, and I'm used to her thinking she knows it all, so we get along pretty well.

This is my week to get up early (5:30) to drive my son and his friends to their before school church education program. I always hate seminary week. Just not a morning person. It's amazing how that hour less sleep just slays me.

Ate so-so over the weekend, am determined to get back to business this week.

Started taekwondo last week. Thought it went pretty well, was even smug the next day as I wasn't sore and thought I must be in better shape than I knew (ha!). Soreness hit a full 24 hours later and lasted three days! ouch ouch ouch! I have looked forward to this for a year, and am determined to keep it up, no matter how ghastly the first month is.

Hey Everyone!

The wedding was beautiful. My aunt and my new uncle were absolutely gorgeous! He loves her SO much and it's so obvious!

I am still in Portland today. I am having my hair done for the last time by my cutie pie hair dresser! Let me tell ya: if I was 10 years younger, I'd be after this one! And, unbelievably he's STRAIGHT!

DD#1 is very sick. She's got a horrendous, deep dry, hacking cough. You can tell it must hurt. I feel so badly for her and had to rush out at midnight to get her some OTC meds to help alleviate some her discomfort. I hope she starts feeling better, because we have to go home today.

Speaking of home: this is the last week surrounded by my stuff before the movers come. There are so many emotions attached to moving that I can't even begin......

BUT, here is the VERY good news -- DH will be home on FRIDAY NIGHT!!! I am SO excited, because this will bring the end of his lloooooooonnnnnnnggggggggggg deployments. He will have to get underway on his new ship, but it will only be for a few days at the longest! I can't believe we've made it through this last miserable job! I am so relieved.

That's about it. I need to get in the shower so I can try my hardest to show that cute little hunka-hunka hairdresser what he's missing with 30-something women! (Ya, right!)

Take it easy chicks. I'm not going to report on staying OP -- there was a wedding!

Have a great day!

Morning! Up most of the night with dd4 who has had a temp off and on since Saturday...I don't know what is with that kid....I try not to worry but she seems to be sick a lot!

Well my goal for today is to get out and walk...good for the soul, post op recovery and inches off.

Dh is still sleeping as he is working evenings and stayed up all night watchng TV..I was asleep before 10 pm which is a miracle.
What time do most people go to bed...I am happy if I crawl in before midnight.

Have a good one everyone! Bottoms up on the H2O.

Morning everyone --
I wasn't around much over the weekend, I had both of my grands here (ages 1 and 2-1/2) for a "trial run"... I will have them for 5 days at the end of May, and we weren't sure if Rosie would stay with me!
Anyhow, all went fine, but I am totally exhausted... we went into NYC yesterday to take the kids home, but the roads and bridges were totally clogged (2 parades, a bike tour, an AIDS walkathon and an MS walkathon!) - instead we took the railroad - NEVERAGAIN! 2 little kids,+1 stroller + 1 large overnight bag + 1 railroad train + 1 subway + 1 bus + countless sets of stairs without working escalators = 1 exhausted gramma!!!!! Now I'm trying to regroup so that I will still be among the living when I have to leave for work at 3:00!

Ruth, I gotta tell you that I am loving hearing about your dogs - I am totally in love with PWDs and am trying to get one - my only restriction is that I need to get a young adult - I'm better with older dogs. I met a breeder who had a 2 yr old male that she took back, I brought him home - loved him to death - best dog I ever had....... unfortunately, I had to bring him back after 2 days (I cried for WEEKS!) I had an asthma attack that lasted 2 weeks! Turned out that he had an "improper coat gene" -- <big sigh> - I'm still looking! Hopefully, one will turn up soon - there is a show early next month that I'm going to......

I don't have enough time to respond to all the threads I missed, so I'll try to consolidate here: jiffy, the guy's an idiot! just remember that YOU are the one who counts..... it's how you feel, not what some jack@ss does or doesn't notice!
Oh no - I'm having a brain freeze and can't remember any of the other stuff I wanted to say! I'll have to come back later and try to remember then.........

Oh well, have a great day everyone!

Hi all,
I had a nice weekend out in Western Mass. The drive on Friday was quite windy and a 2 handed drive the whole way. It was a nice walk on Saturday that included 9 holes of golf. First round since last fall and very The contractors are still here and I am thinking that it may be longer than I hoped of being done by the weeks happy it was not with DH but with a good friend.

end. Having ones hopes dashed on a Monday morning is a little sad, but reality.

Older son has a visitor at school today from a boy that moved last year, little man is on a field trip to the police station this morning and I got in my 1 hour on the elliptical.

I am feeling very frustrated by doing all the right things and still not loosing. I have an appointment with my Dr on Thurs to see if there is anything I can do or to make sure I am doing it right. Maybe a nutritionist is where I need to go. Who really knows?

so glad you have the grace to blush, peachie!!!

mom gardened today, and is very tired., but i still managed to drag her out after i got home., we went to pick up some meds for me, and she bought some lilac hand lotion and a 2-scoop hot fudge sundae with snickers bar ice cream from baskin robbins.

so, she's happy.

work was actually fairly decent today. maybe i'll stay. they're really doing everything possible to make sure i'm happy: a new desk [just delivered today], and a new computer promised for wednesday!! and they just won't make the official offer for awhile!!!
