Accountability: Actions that reflect the integrity of the person you want to be.

This is our new Age 50+ NON-Challenge thread.

This is NOT a Challenge - it is a place for us to record our daily behaviors (behaviours) toward being personally responsible for our EFFORTS.

NOTE: we cannot control our OUTCOMES - weight - however, we can control our EFFORTS - daily actions aimed at losing/maintaining weight.

If you want to give this thread a try, just post 1 message on this thread. Each day during the month of May, the Age 50+ ladies are invited to add to their original message (using the "edit" button) by updating information about actions they have taken toward meeting their goal of losing/maintaining weight.

There is no 1 format - feel free to be creative. If you miss days/weeks - NO problem - just stop back when you can. The winners on this thread are all of us who continue to work toward being accountable for our actions!

Hope to see you all in May.

Just staking my claim to a spot . . . at the moment, I think I'll follow much the same format as in April . . . but I will be missing a few days early in the month while I'm away . . . I'll finalize things later. Just wanted to get this into "Sticky"-land so nobody can miss it.

Okay, I'm doing the same thing as last month. Since that worked out pretty well. Once again I am aiming for 1400 to 1500 net calories each day with approximately 40% Carbs; 30% Fat; 30% Protein. Plus that little notation of NOTT vs regarding my Treats or Triggers situation.

Hi ROMA . . . does this mean you are staking your spot for the May Accountability Thread . . . just wondering because your post sounds more like it belongs in one of the regular monthly chat threads that are down below the sticky area.

I post in all three but a lot of the girls post in just one or two . . . there's Golden Girls (it's probably the busiest); Getting Lighter (which has been around the longest) and Active Folks (where we tend to talk about our activites more than anything else). Hope to be seeing you in one or more of those threads soon.

In the Accountability thread for the month, we tend to just keep updating the information we've decided to track for the current month on a daily basis by clicking on the little "quote" button at the bottom right side of our own post.

Hey, never fear, Chickie, it can take a little bit of time to get the hang of things around here . . . but I know you'll get it nailed down pretty soon . . .

*Continue jogging up to 5K 3x a week, circuit training 2 or 3x a week
*Continue riding my stationary bike building up to 20 minutes and doing counter push-ups
*Portion size
*No junky snacks
*Eat sufficient food not to be hungry and at least 5 fruits and vegetables a day
*Exercise at least 5 days a week
*Lose 2-3 pounds by end of May (super goal: 5 pounds!)

.Spent the month of April tracking and comparing South Beach diet and calorie intake of between 1200 and 1500 calories daily. After intial struggle with water that leveled out, but after few weeks noticed slowly increasing Carbs. Weight now seems stalled. So this month will continue watching South Beach and calories while attempting to increase Fats and Proteins and decreasing Carbs. Perfect day would be.. 40% Fat...35% Carb...25% Protein......Karen3

Hey everybody! Sorry I'm late getting here ... but if you knew me, well, you'd know!

May 1, 2008 - Another month starting already! After losing 27 pounds total (half of March & all of April), the new month brings hope! (1066 calories)
May 2, 2008 - Weigh in tomorrow! I can actually be happy about that for a change! (1058 calories)
May 3, 2008 - Went to the gym - my usual 1 mile @ approx 2.5 mph - soon I'm gonna have to go further, but with my ADD, 1 mile is hard enough to focus on! Oh yeah!!! Weighed in - 271 (1000 calories)
May 4, 2008 - I wonder if the sun is ever going to shine again LOL So gloomy, still rather cool. Going to the gym soon. (1215 calories)
May 5, 2008 - Nothing going on - (1023 calories)
May 6, 2008 - Again! (1236 calories)
May 7, 2008 - Went to the baseball game - really long walk with hills to the field. Sat out in the sun, got bitten by bugs, felt great! (955 calories)
May 8, 2008 - Steve not feeling well .. stayed home .. have errands to do, but it's a rainy day. (1017 calories)
May 9, 2008 - Errands to run - people to see, places to go (807 calories)
May 10, 2008 - Went to gym - Lost 3 pounds this week. Down to 268. Total of 34 pounds lost since March, not bad, not bad (1091 calories)
May 11, 2008 - Mother's Day (eek) I hate to even show this - (3467 calories) - and that's probably low.
May 12, 2008 - Almost back on track. Sheesh it's hard to bounce back. (1489 calories)
May 13, 2008 - (998 calories)
May 14, 2008 - (1181 calories)
May 15, 2008 - (1316 calories)
May 16, 2008 - Well, hopefully I'm back on track again. I weigh tomorrow, hopefully I didn't gain (crossing fingers). (794 calories)
May 17, 2008 - Went to the gym, did the usual. Someday I need to bump it up at least another half mile. Weighed 267 - 1 more pound. Better than nuttin'. Going to the baseball tournament today! A day in the sun! (1204 calories)
May 18, 2008 - Didn't do much today ... (1605 calories)
May 19, 2008 - Went to gym. Walked for 37 mins. (1261 calories)
May 20, 2008 - (1460 calories)

Claiming my spot. Only lost 1/2 lb (going by weekly weigh-ins) in April. Kinda disapppointed by that but can easily see why. I think I have learned my lesson to be more consistent in keeping my calories down and eating less snacks since that's always my weak area. So feel it was a learning month. I will continue to track weight, calories and exercise. I will be traveling for 2 weeks this month but plan to be online even then.

Ended last month at 164 which was my lowest for April.
5/1/08 -
Weight: 165.5 (yesterday was my dh's b-day and we ate out TWICE so I'm not surprised I gained a little).
Calories: 1538
Exercise: 30 min yoga stretch, 40 min cardio

5/2/08 -
Weight: 164.5
Calories: 1300
Exercise:40 min cardio class but had a brand new instructor (new to coaching a class) and didn't feel I got as good a work-out as usual), but a least I was moving. :-)

5/3/08 -
Weight: 164 WEEKLY WEIGH-IN - Down 1/2 lb again! Not a new number however so hope I lose down to a NEW number soon! ;-)
Calories: too many - lost track!
Exercise: none

5/4/08
Weight: 164.5
Calories 1866 (had to edt as I added wrong first time! I's a little lower now but still too high). It was my snacking as usual. I was doing fine, snacking on fruit then my dh made some rice cake...so yummy, but so rich and before I knew it I've had two pieces!

5/5/08
Weight: 165.5
Calories: 1683 - having trouble keeping my calories down obviously. Again it's my snacks.
Exercise: 30 min stretch and breathe, 40 min cardio classes

Weight: 164.5
Calories: lost track but I'm sure it was too much! Don't know why I can't seem to it back on track with the calories!
Exercise: yoga stretch 30 min, cardio 40 min.

Weight: 162.5!! Yea! Not my "official" weigh-in day, that's Sat, but it is good to see this low a number.

Exercise: Not going to the gym any more until we get back from our trip, will just try to get exercise in as I can. Walked in place during tv commercials and stretched while watching tv.

Calories: Didn't count today but am sure its high. We are leaving on our trip Monday and I found myself trying to eat up everything that won't last til we get back. I mean I froze all I could but I still ate lot...

I'm going to track OP/NOP, water, exercise and blood pressure (home and drugstore to compare). I've got quite a bp problem that they keep trying to fix with different meds, so don't freak when you see my numbers.
