I dont own a scale. I'm so tempted to buy one but I can remember last time that I was losing weight I let the scale rule my moods and my eating habits.
I havent taken my measurments either. I wonder if I shouldnt do that instead of buying a scale . I could measure myself once a month to see my progress.
The only other thought that I had was to weigh myself at my Dr.s office. I'd have to call him and see if this was o.k. with him. I cant imagine that it wouldnt be. He's a really nice guy. For me it would just be the embarrassment of going in there just for that. I have access to different scales at my work but that's just it if I weigh myself I want to do it on the same scale all of the time.
If I buy one I'd love to have the one that have the counter weights with the balance bar but how much do you think those buggers cost. Probably a pretty penny! I just hate having a cheap scale and belive me I've had several in my time.
So tell me if you dont have a scale then how do you map your progress?????
I use the scale at the office (same one every time) but when my son was trying to lose weight for football we used the doc in a box near our home to chart his progress and they were more convenient than the Drs. office and very cooperative. We went in, weighed ourselves, and left.
That's slang for the Doctors Care or whatever walk in medical service you have in your area. We use them for emergencies like stitches but others can walk in for colds, etc. The point is that they are usually located in convenient places next to shopping centers or places you pass frequently. Be sure to tell them that you'd just like to weigh yourself if that's OK. Otherwise you could be waiting for hours unecessarily.
I dont think we have one of those around here. The name you gave them really made me laugh. Doc in a Box....just add water. LOL!! Now I can say that I leanred something new today. That may I also add cracked me up!!!
Have you checked your shed outside? I think your Marine Corps dh locked it in there and booby trapped it....you may have to play, "Let's make a Deal honey!" This I remember...don't ask me the date ok?
Seriously tho, I think you going to the dr and weighing yourself is a good idea. That way you won't make your self nuts jumping on and off it a gazillion times and letting it rule your life.
Peachie I cant believe that you even remember that. Do you also remember how he took it and hid it in his car truck and was only supose to get it out once a week for me. When he put it in the shed and also in his trunk I thought that moisture would effect it and went out each time to get it. I think it was pouring down rain.
I called my Dr. and he said that I was to come in and use it when I wanted to. I told him that it would be once a week. He even told me that he's there around 7:30 a.m. and if I want in that early he would let me. I dont think I'll be going in that early. I'll probably just take the kids to school first then go and get weighed. Wish me luck. I know those numbers are going to be ugly and I mean UGLY!!!!!!
Ok goilfriends! Let me just add that I've been making myself put on makeup and do the hair do thing every morning CAUSE I know those scale numbers are much uglier than ME! Hopefully dh is looking at this face instead of the tummy! LOL
Yes Chrissy, threw that scale out long ago! Too bad the weight didn't go with it!
I do not own a scale either. Mine broke and I haven't bought another. I am afraid that the numbers will control my life and the way I feel about my progress or lack of it.
I eventually will buy a scale, but I am in no hurry to be a slave to the infinite power of its numbers.
I did take my measurements but I am not going to measure myself for awhile either. I don't want to be disappointed, that I haven't "shrank" more than I should. However, especially if you are working out, your measurements may be a better indicator of how you are progressing...after all muscle does weigh more than fat....
Chrissy, if you DO decide to go the measurement route, be sure to take them from EVERYWHERE, not just the usual three places. I have lost 19 lb but it has made absolutely no difference to my three main measurements and those are the only ones I took last summer before I started WW. However, my pants all feel much looser around my bottom and my thighs and I can feel shoulder bones where there never used to be any. Wish now I'd measured thighs, knees, calves, ankles, wrists, upper arms, neck, etc. Those little measurements can add up.
BTW, I do have a scale but haven't used it in six months because it was weighing me 15 pounds lighter than the scale at WW. What a shock THAT was at my first meeting.
Just remember, doctors are cheep, they don't always have their scales calibrated so you could be LIGHTER than they say you are !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
GOOD NEWS HUH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you don't believe me ask your doctor the next time you go when was the last time they had their scales calibrated.......thats where a professional comes in and puts weights on the scale and adjusts it so its accurate......bet your doctor doesn't even know what it is. LOLOLOL.
You know what Leens you might be right but I've had my fair share of bathroom scales that I've bought and had the same problem with. I'd rather not spend the money and just go to the doctor. To me I've given him alot of money in the past for health care and the free use of the scale is A.O.K. with me.....even if it's a few pounds off
