It is soooo annoying! I agree with some who said staying away from a scale enabled them to CLIMB. My problem in my 20's(32 now) was I did not care as I thought it was just an issue of looks. Like, I am married, he is fine with it,(ex dh) too much trouble to eat right or exercise. Not to mention i had 5 kids running around and he was always OTR so doing anything for myself was non existant. But when I hit 30 both my parents died. One at 52, one at 65, both diabetics, etc, etc. I woke up QUICK! Thank God I have me new dh and his complete love support and help.

I personally have to weigh myself every day or I will get WAY off track! I didn't own a scale for few years and went from 120's all the way into the 170's. Ouch! Sorry for your scale, but sounds like you are doing good!!!

Thanx I remember when I was 15 and I was heavy, like an 18. I don't remember the exact weight but it was about 220. I liked some boy and knew I needed to get the weight off for him to like me so I started dieting and walking alot. I had no clue how many calories I was doing at the time. I remember doing a slimfast shake mix for breakfast. Looking back now it was a HUGE glass. lol Like maybe 24 oz of milk and then some mix. haha
Lunch I took to school a piece of toast, nothing on it, one apple, a hard boiled egg, 1 diet soda. EVERY SINGEL DAY! I had started walking to school 15 minutes there and 15 back. I got home from school and was HUNGRY. (I realize now I should of had a healthy snack lol) So around 4:00 I started going for a 1 hour walk.
Came home and would eat whatever my mom made for dinner but not get seconds. Sometimes at nite I would eat some microwave popcorn and occasionally if I felt ravenous a Hebrew National hot Dog. I stayed off the scale and when I first weighed again it said 185 and I was in a 14 by then. The last time I weighed as a teen I was 162 and a size 10-12. That is where I ended up but was happy with it.
I had read in a book back then to stay off the scale except very occasionally. if you lose, you may think you are doing great and may celebrate, if you gain, or don't lose you may get discouraged and give up.
In my 30's between having 5 kids and being pregnant all the time it seemed it was always easy to slip back into the bigger loose stretchy clothes. Never had a scale, no accountability.

Yep, the scale can really make one nuts sometimes! Just so long as you have some way to track your progress, you should do fine.
Another idea is to weigh less often, at someplace where you don't go frequently. My grocery store has a scale, for example. That way you can't get driven nuts by it, but you still can check on a weekly basis.

So for me I know if I am tracking fitday, I know how many calories I am getting. I walk 90 minutes a day 4 days a week and 1 day at 60 usually and 1 day off. So I know how many cals I am burning. I am going to weigh occasionally. My daughter has monthly doc apts. to monitor her b.p. so I think I will weigh in once a month over there.

I can relate! I try to weigh myself no more than once a week but mainly judge my success (or lack of!) by how my clothes are fitting! It's just too discouraging when the scale tells you you've gained three pounds overnight, especially when it's probably just water.
Good for you girlie!

It is, it is agonizing!

I'm a big proponent for measuring instead of or in addition to relying on the scale. Mine has been up and down so much this week, I would be smashing it too if I didn't have a grip on what it really means.
I know how stubborn the scale can be at times.

Usually when I increase my walking significantly it gets stubborn for a few weeks before it buckles. I haven't increased lately though. I know it was doing that cause of Tom but am so sick of it when I KNOW I am losing! I am sure if it were working right now it would say 208. But I am NOT waiting on it. lol
I don't need a scale to tell me I am losing. I can reach up and feel my collar bone coming out this past week. Can't see them very good in the mirror yet but the shoulders are alot more defined. I can fit comfy into shorts I couldn't just 2 weeks ago.

Take that Mr. Scale!

It does more harm than good. Can you believe, this inanimate object has SO much power over our feelings???
I say scale breaking should be the new bra burning

LOl - seriously - do NOT weigh in more than once a week. I know it's hard but it will drive you nuts.

That scale deserved it's slow , painful death. I should take a picture of it! hahahah My dh was relived after he seen I used the shampoo bottle to break it and not my fist. I actually slammed it against the concrete floor and it broke the glass but I wanted it ALL to break. haha The little feet broke off and I was thinking of slamming it against the toilet or the bath tub but I thought my luck, I will break those instead.
I got some black jeans that are a 15/16 and still too tight to wear out so that should be my next bench mark. Maybe when I lose 30 more pounds I will go get a digital.
