Hi SusanB. I suspect too she is jealous. If you have to work with her again, can you come up with one or two simple, short phrases you can say over and over again whenever she says something pertaining to your weight or eating? Something that doesnt really answer her comment and is sort of ambiguous and non-mean or angry sounding that will make her tire of commenting without getting a reply. Something like 'thank you for your concern.' or 'Thank you for sharing'. and then change the subject. then when/if she says the next thing, repeat it yet again.

Tomorrow I am spending Thanksgiving at very good friends' house here in town. The Mom, a good friend for over 30 years, has strong anorexic tendencies. She loves to cook and makes wonderful stuff, but that is how she gets her pleasure from food. She hardly eats any of it herself. No one overeats in that home. Although I've had my Turkey dinner strategy in place for several years, in the past that used to bug me. I felt mildly uncomfortable not eating as much I might have liked of my chosen foods. I ate enough, I just wanted all my options open, not that anyone would have objected to my eating more. "Look at the fat woman eat" was in my mind however. This year I am welcoming it. And eating patterns continue to evolve.

Have a very nice Thanksgiving everyone, Jan

Susan - I agree with the others - it's your colleague's issue, not yours. Her comments are only reflecting her personal insecurities and she's looking for ways to justify not dealing with her weight. Like: I don't want to eat like Susan so it must be bad for my kidneys or I don't want to dress like a teenager so why bother to lose weight? Trust me, all of us here have gotten these comments from friends, family, and co-workers! Try to remember that remarks like that are all about THEM, not you, and let them roll off your back.

Happy Thanksgiving to all and corny as it sounds, I'm SO thankful for this wonderful group! I hope we all enjoy a lovely, moderate dinner - focusing on family and friends - and are right back here tomorrow!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING MY AMERICAN FRIENDS!

Today has been somewhat of a different morning... I made a pancake lunch for DD and her 8 guy friends, one of which is her "boy"friend (stoooopid boys why do they have to pick on MY D ) ... Anyways, I wanted to meet these boys because she likes them all so much and claims she has more fun with them than her g/f's sometimes. So, once a week or so they walk to one of the boy's grandmother for grilled cheese sandwiches... I thought , why not reciprocate by having them over here on one of my days off... I had run it by D a couple of weeks ago, she liked the idea and she asked for me to make pancakes for them today on my day off... I made pancakes for 2 hours before they arrived. They had a blast and enjoyed every pancake they ate! It also calmed my some of my fears about them... They were ALL cute, nice, polite and very friendly... I enjoyed it too... BTW I only had the equivalent of 1/4 of a large pancake, while I was making them...... I'm proud of that, In the old days I would have eaten at least 3 large ones, with real syrup!!!

So, now for only the second time this week I'm off to the gym, I feel like I really need it... I'm not even sure what I will work because it's been so long for every thing... Maybe shoulders and cardio ...

TTFN...

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Great job with the pancakes, Ilene!!

So far so good for me today. Got up and ran my 5K Turkey Trot. It was cold, a lot of fun, and I'm glad I went, but my time was horrible--remaining fatigue from last weekend probably. Had a nice, reasonable, early lunch, and I think I'm now going to take a nap!

Hope all those great plans and visualization are making today easy and enjoyable for everyone.

Anne

Thanks everyone. You all make me feel much better.
I'm not sure why she doesn't want to eat like me tho'. I have a new trail mix with chocolate in it and I had two Tim Horton's muffins today!
I think there may be something to this muscle business
I'm off to do legs

There is sometimes a denial of sorts in some fat people who are not currently working on losing their weight. They look upon you as an example of what they should be doing but cant right now, and sometimes they resent it. As long as you remained fat, they can do that too comfortably. Misery loves company.

Dr Phil also says when something in a relationship changes, as in one person does something to better themselves, the other engages in something called 'leveling' which tries to bring the relationshop back into its old balance. Leveling usually comes in the form of negative comments attempting to bring the other back down just abit and onto the same level again as the leveler.

Crabs in a bucket, I think I've heard that called. I guess I'm a little shocked because (although opinionated) she's a nice enough gal and a caring nurse.
Today is one of those plan careful days. I start nights tonight so I need a nap but I must fit it in after lunch and before 4:30 when I need to take DS#2 to work. I have no clean towels nor uniforms. My kitchen looks like nobody ever does dishes and I'm still vacuuming plaster dust. I 'should' clean up around the wood which is finally stacked in the basement and my husband wants me to be on his float in the Santa Claus parade this evening.
I have, however, finished the sweater I'm knitting for Christmas and am over half done afghan number one. So maybe knitting will have to take a back seat just for today.
Oh yes ... I should eat clean and do some abs
Have a good day everyone!
