You're doing amazing, Jessica! I can't believe anyone would have the nerve to ask you that. I hope she was mortified and learned her lesson.

Shannon... Yes... Parenting is so hard. I wish I could say it's easier now that my girls are more or less grown. In some ways it is, but you get a whole new set of worries. My dh joked that when my girls were younger, I probably wanted summer to end so they could go back to school and now I probably want school to start so I can get a break from my puppy. Um... No... I love my summers and I'm not ready to go back yet!

I'm thinking my weight may stay up until I go back to work and can regulate my meals better. I'll update my ticker after my weigh in Saturday... Maybe I can make some progress by then...

I agree, Shannon, stick with something for a while before you change.

WTG, Jessica! Sorry about the remark.

Got a good workout in this morning. With the added exercises the weight routine is taking me roughly 30 minutes and some of it has me really huffing and puffing. And I definitely see changes for the good.

I'll take tomorrow off as I cannot drink water in the morning and I cannot imagine doing a workout without water!

I'll be heading home early today to do my prep for tomorrow's colonoscopy. Think good thoughts for me, please!

Good luck with the procedure Allison! And I like your approach to vacation planning; a full year to look forward to a trip is almost as good as the trip itself! I may try that!

Jessica, as the others have said: she should have been embarrassed, not you. But of course the same type of person who WOULD ask that, would be too clueless to feel appropriately humiliated by her mistake.

And yeah, my husband's super thin. I think his highest adult weight ever was 155 in high school, then he's gone steadily down since. He has absolutely no body fat. His medical stats and bloodwork are fantastic; most of his thinness is genetic as his mother is also incredibly tall and lean. They both have delicate bone structure as well. The problem is that he lost weight as his dad slowly died recently, and he seems to have a complete inability to regain weight.

We have a "trade 15" pact going now, where we've agreed I will lose 15 lbs and he will gain 15 lbs. This is wildly optimistic on both of our parts. I'm doing better than he is; I've lost a bit already because I actually AM able to lose weight when I try. But he's putting away big meals (e.g about 1500 calories worth of pesto pasta for dinner), in addition to lots of cake and ice cream and chocolate, and still has no change on the scale. I'm starting to understand a bit better why he hates being skinny so much; he's as self-conscious as many overweight people.

I think it was humorist Dave Barry who said, "Do not ask a woman if she is pregnant unless you can actually see a baby coming out of her body."

It's Thursday, and my weight is still up from being on a trip last week. I've been trying to catch up on coursework for a class I'm taking, but that really is no excuse.

Allison, I hope everything went OK and that your colon is clean as can be.

JZJ, that is so unusual about your husband. Maybe more protein instead of so much sugar? I have no idea.

Can't believe August is almost here! Yikes!

No exercise today because I can't drink anything for 6 hours before the procedure and who can exercise without drinking water?

I leve in an hour, for a procedure in two hours. I cannot imagine an hour of paperwork to fill out, but they said I had to be there an hour early.

Weight down, but that's to be expected.

Maybe I should opt for the actual procedure rather than the "do-it-yourself" one that I mail in. Sounds much more interesting. I am joking of course.

Nope.

I arrived at 8:45 (the surgery center is in another city and one never knows the traffic and I hate to be late)
9:10 name called--answered a bunch of questions for the anesthesiologist
9:20 name called--got officially checked in (gave insurance card, etc.)
9:50 name called to go back, change into gown, answer a bunch more questions, start IV
10:05 get rolled into room for colonoscopy
10:10 get anesthesiology, go out quick (but can feel most of what went on, that was weird).
Don't remember looking at the clock to see when they were wheeling me to recovery. Got a glass of water, nurse called my MIL, she then went to get the car while I dressed. Couldn't have been more than 10 minutes there.
10:50 left the building via wheelchair
Two shopping stops on the way home and got home just after noon.

Hope your results are perfect, Allison, and hope you got something good to eat after!

There's a new yoga teacher at my studio and I was wondering if she is pregnant. I still can't tell but I figure if she is I'll figure it out eventually. If not, I won't have put my foot in my mouth!

Alinnell, anesthetics are drugs... That's what I was referring to. And that's why you had to be there an hour early.

In my twenties I had an unexpected sigmoidoscopy with no anesthetic. It was horrible. I hadn't known the doctor was going to do that. Things are much different now, but I still haven't had a colonoscopy. I'm going to opt for the test Dagmar is talking about.

Sending Congratulations to Alinnell for surviving a colonoscopy.

And sending Condolences for surviving the prep the day before. BTDT. I could happily spend the rest of my life never doing that again.

Good morning all!

Allison, glad the colonoscopy is over with.

Michele, yes, if she is pregnant you will find out soon enough!

Weight is down to 149. I could get used to making progress like this. I hate to say it but I think temporarily giving up on exercise was a great idea. On the one hand, when I exercise I feel like eating healthier foods, but on the other hand, I want a whole lot more food when I exercise. I've been able to keep it to smaller portions pretty easily the last couple of weeks. Going back to once a week planning out recipes for the whole week was a great idea too -- it makes things easier for DH when he's got a stack of recipes to make and doesn't have to think about what to cook for dinner, and it makes it easier for me to track.

Jessica I find that it's the decision about what to make that DH doesn't want to do regarding meal prep. If I give him a menu then he'll go buy the food and make it. But if HE has to decide then maybe yes we'll get a cooked dinner, maybe no.

But, JayEll, they didn't administer the drugs until just a few minutes prior to the procedure, while in the procedure room. The hour before was all sitting and waiting--almost an hour in the waiting room and 10-15 minutes in the pre-op area.

I did have one polyp removed and will find out about that in a few days.

My gyn had been doing a test that he kept saying would prevent me from having to have a colonoscopy until this year when he changed his mind. Can't remember the name of what hi did, but I imagine it was similar to what Dagmar described (as a sample was sent in for testing). It did indicate hemorrhoids which I knew I had--probably a side effect of pregnancy. They don't bother me--never have except when I was pregnant. The colonoscopy also indicated the hemorrhoids. Oh, and they gave me some lovely photos, too! lol

No exercise this morning. I'm feeling wiped out. Slept like a log. Woke up minutes before my alarm was to go off and I just turned it off and went back to sleep for another 40 minutes.

Weight unchanged from yesterday and I'm hoping to keep it that way through the weekend.

Blood pressure seems to be holding at a lower number and that makes me very happy. It's been 30 days since I've been on BC pills. I'm thinking that they are the culprit. But if it doesn't come down to normal numbers in another two months, with additional weight loss, I'm going to my GP.

Jessica, I know what you mean. I find that I want/need quite a bit less food in two cases: when I am not exercising much, even not bike-commuting to work; and/or when I am home and not at work.

The exercise connection is quite clear; if I am listening to my hunger alone, being sedentary barely stimulates it at all. On the work side, it seems to be a combination of high stress and the effort required to be at the very top of my intellectual game all of the time, that makes me reach for food at work. I always lose weight on vacations or the very rare situations when I'm home for more than a weekend.
