S/C/G: Lost 50 lbs, regained some

Default Maintainers Losing a Lot and Winning!

Hey! Time for a new thread. For those who may not know, this thread is for maintainers who, for whatever reason, drifted up and need to lose 10 pounds or more. (Of course, anyone is welcome to post if they like. We don't check your scale. )

I'm tired today, and not sure why. It must have been the late night on Friday, when it was gosh, after 10 when I got to bed.

Today is my day off from exercise, but not a day off from mindfulness with food.

Hope y'all are doing well!

Hi All

I think this is the thread for me right now... I lost 60 lbs this time around... but I've seemed to have creeped up by about 5 lbs that I would really like to just get off for good...

I would really just like to at the very least get back under 160 and STAY THERE... But of course I'm still holding out hope that I can get back in the "normal" BMI range (I know not always the best thing to use, but that's what I'm going with for now...)

So anyway... here I am... Now I just need to find some motivation to get back on track... Not exactly sure what that is right at the moment...

But I'm open to new ideas, so I guess that's at least a good thing... right?

Thanks, JayEll. Just about to go to sleep after a busy day. Food? I'd give it 6/10.

Welcome, TripSwitch!

I kind of took the weekend off. We golfed yesterday and I walked as much as possible (this new course requires a cart, but there are times when I can walk a bit without holding up the game). We got hot, but at the last three holes there was a nice breeze to cool us off again. No weights Friday, Saturday or Sunday. Usually I try to take a day off for rest, and this might be too much, but I did it last weekend and was able to push off on Monday with higher sets, so I think it's all good. Having done this for so many weeks (8?) seems to have gotten me into a good shape, although the need to lose weight is still there. As of this morning, I'm down about 2 pounds. S.L.O.W. but we all have been there.

tripswitch and thanks for starting the new thread Jayell.

I dreaded getting on the scale this morning (even though the number is not all that accurate) because of the lack of a kitchen, sulking eating, and all those other things I've been doing during this month. My body, because I haven't had anywhere to do yoga or weights, looks terrible to me in the hall mirror.

I weight 137.5 lbs. I was expecting around 145. That is the difference weights make to my body. I may weigh more when I'm toned but I look a whole lot smaller and less squishy.

The kitchen reno was supposed to be finished today. I'm hoping it starts early this week so it WILL be done by next Monday and we can go back to some sort of normality re preparing food.

Hi TripSwitch!

I hear you about the motivation. My experience has been that after a point, I could not make myself get back on the same horse that I used to lose weight initially. So, I have been trying different approaches.

My experience has also been that the main thing is the food intake. Exercise is great for strength, fitness, and keeping metabolism up--but I can't out-exercise too many calories.

Silverbirch, I hope you got some good rest.

Alinnell, I am amazed that you can golf in the heat.

Mudpie, what a nice surprise from the scale! I hope your kitchen gets done on time.

I have a busy day of cleaning in preparation for a group meeting being held here this evening. I've already completed my morning walk, so I'm that much ahead.

Jay~we had a cool front (can't call it a cold front!) come through. Highs were mid 90's with fairly low humidity. While golfing the temperature was in the low 80's so quite comfortable.

Got up and got in a good workout this morning, but my weight was up (typical after a weekend as we generally go out to eat for lunch).

Welcome TripSwitch!

The memorial went well yesterday. Emotional but not too much so, and a large turnout; a few awkward speeches by the more "unusual" family members. It was a lot of work though... it was hard to gear up this morning for yet another 60+ hour work week, after a weekend without a moment of relaxation.

Now our house is filled with the leftovers that my husband wanted to take home - cakes, chips, the works. Must stay strong.

JayZeeJay - throw the leftovers out slowly - a few servings per day. Hide them in the bottom of the trash can, preferably outside. If questioned, say that you ate them.

Welcome TripSwitch! We all are looking for motivation I think, or support to keep the motivation we have grabbed on to going. I swing back and forth between doing great with food and exercise and crashing on both. I never have a middle.

JayZee - I agree, get rid of the leftovers. Take them to work and give them away if you have to.

Jay - I've been tired all weekend, too. I'm fighting it off today. I started taking melatonin last week to try to sleep, I've been in an insomnia cycle. Could it make me tired all the time? I've been cutting it in half.

Allison - funny that mid-90s is a cool front.

Dagmar - high five on the scale! It is amazing what some weight lifting will do for the body. I wish I could make myself remember that.

I just got finished exercising. I feel good about that. I'm working from home waiting for the contractor we have fixing the hole in the ceiling to come and sand and reapply sealer this afternoon. I'm not sure what to do with him - he knocked his ladder over on Thursday afternoon when he was first working - punched a hole in the wall in my stairwell with it and threw sheetrock mud all over the stairs and hallway, then tracked it in and out of the house. Hadn't put down a tarp or anything. He has yet to mention a thing about it. I'm wondering if I need to contact the owner or wait to see if he comes to inspect the finished work. Or, if the guy cleans it up on his own. It looks terrible.

If he doesn't fix it before he leaves, call the owner and tell him what happened. Most companies (like mine) would never allow that kind of thing to go unfixed. And we're really careful working in homes as we build multi-million dollar houses. Don't want those folks to be mad at us!

Thanks, Allison. I can't imagine that this is the way that this company normally does work, as they were referred from residents one of the more uppity, planned communities in the area. Now, I don't live in that planned community, so I've also wondered if he behaves differently for everyone else. I'll wait and see what D does today, and then contact the owner. I believe there will be at least one more trip after this one to paint.

Food was a trainwreck this weekend, and I ended up not exercising at all. I was literally asleep 75% of the weekend. I'm working to keep moving and not eat like a crazy person today.

I just finished my exercise for today:

Part 1:
Workout B in my Strong Curves beginner workout:
A1/2: BW single leg glute bridge/front lat pulldown - 3x10 per side/1x10 then 2x8/55#
B1/2: BW step up/DB press - 10-12-14/3x8x15# per
BW Back extension - 3x15
Side clam - 1x20
Crunch - 1x20
Side crunch - 1x15

Part 2:
Elliptical - 45 minutes, rotating incline and intensity

Food so far today not great - I had frozen pizza for brunch. No other food today though, and a good dinner planned.

Ugh Shannon, that is a real drag. Definitely don't cut him much slack on repairing and cleaning that up.

The leftovers situation is typical for my husband and I. What is unnecessarily high-calorie "junk" food for me and my body, is just food to him - he struggles keeping weight on as it is, and right now in particular. He's been quite sad and stressed from first the agonizingly slow death then the loss of his dad, so he's not been eating well and must be down to 140 lbs (he's 6 ft tall). I don't want to punish him for my poor self-control by getting rid of these foods that he actually wants to eat. I should be able to be around any food, after all.

JZJ, you're right. You should be able to be around any food. But I know it's hard. And I agree that you shouldn't toss food that someone else in the house wants to eat. I often have that situation arise in my house.
