JZJ - that is a lot going on at one time, honey. Take care of yourself and don't beat yourself up for the carbs right now. Are you taking medication for the ulcer? I developed one a few years ago and had to alter my diet and take some meds to heal it, I am always watching for it coming back.
Allison - we got a tempurpedic mattress pad because I was having that same problem lying on my side. Our mattress is 10 years old and has some weak spots.
I had a weight jump this morning, which I expected. Pizza Sunday night plus a caesar salad take out last night had a lot of salt and it sometimes takes a couple of days to manifest. I'm hoping tomorrow will be better. I've had a headache for the last two days as well, so there has been some medication in there that usually causes some bloating. Still exercised this morning though, which was tough with headache. I just turned off the light in my office and turned on my undercabinet lighting, it seems to be helping.
DH and I are going to go to the movies tonight, so dinner is likely to be cocktail shrimp and movie popcorn. Woo! Hoping the headache is down some by then.

I'm not sure I'd want a tempurpedic mattress (but a pad might help). I slept on a mattress a few years ago and didn't like it at all. I have a Sealy Beauty Rest (I think) that is about 12 years old. I'll have to discuss it with DH.

The pad is thinner than the full mattress, so you still get the movement of the regular mattress but the shaping of the pad.
Usually if your back or hips start to hurt after a long time of comfort, it's a sign the mattress is too old. Our mattress was worn out after 8 years--it, too, was a Simmons Beautyrest. We bought another of a different model (since the one we had is no longer made), but the model wasn't right. Too firm. We had one chance at replacement, and so we went with a Sealy Posturepedic. So far, it is just right. Be sure to try out a lot before you buy, is all I can say.
I'm not a fan of Thermarest, either.
JZJ, it's not surprising to me that you now have an ulcer. Your life has been so stressful. I hope you can get things taken care of. Roofs are a pain! Try to get a few estimates...
Aw, JZJ - I have so much empathy for you at the moment. Take just a couple minues each day to just do something for YOU - a picture of somewhere you were really relaxed, a smell that brings back nothing but pleasant memories, a daydream of future possibilities, a 5 minute power nap, an awesome stretch. Just something.
So says the person spending the evening with whiskey and chedder/sour cream potato chips. Going to spend my couple of minutes replacing the dead batteries in my scale.
Becky's suggestions are good. This is especially good, Becky!

Doing quite well at my mother's and at my late uncle's. I do slightly less than I think I can, and then I have a rest. I tried to buy some trousers yesterday and failed. You may remember this is a continuing problem ...
Mum is very good at planning food, and making sure we have the right ingredients. I find I just don't have the brain space and am not interested in it. I think it's because I can't multi-task. I focus on one thing to be done in the time available and do it. I tune out any other noise.
Shannon -- raw meal (for your breakfast)? What's that?
Props for running in the rain. We went from "73 degrees and sunny" to "rain/snow mix" in, like, 10 minutes. OK, it was really a few days, it just seemed like 10 minutes. This, plus the early darkness, saps all my interest in going for walks outside (and I'm SO not a "walk in the mall" person).
Fitbit is yelling at me for missing my target (10,000 steps/day). Time to lower my target.
Silverbirch, I don't remember what the problem is with the trousers.
Going away this coming weekend for a short retreat. It includes fasting and silence. The instructions are that food should be treated as medicine: If you have to eat something or get sick, you should eat it. (Note to self: key lime pie does not qualify as medicine.)
I mentioned the other day that I had gained weight inexplicably. Well, I figured it out. DH's little sister was in town and we had her and my in-laws over for dinner Saturday and Sunday and I decided to make dessert. Blackberry cheesecake bars. I'm sure that is the culprit.
DH and I are going to shop for a new mattress Saturday. He agrees it is time (12 years?).
Thanks you guys, you all are sweet, wonderful people.

Ha! I did something similar last night, waiting for DH to get home - I turned on an episode of Sherlock and watched it with my good friend the jar of peanut butter. And you know what, I actually felt better for doing something so self-indulgent, instead of feeling guilty.
All right, Silverbirch, I am reading the latest Elizabeth George, and I have come across the concept of "chip butty." Really? With brown sauce (aka gravy)? And/or ketchup?

It's "natural home" is in Britain, right next door to the deep-fried Mars bar in Scotland. And Gordon Ramsay makes it with a fish fingers side.
We have something equally disgusting here in Canada - poutine. Even more hideous with both gravy AND ketchup.
