Becky, I think it's the cream cheese frosting that does it. It's like you mixed full fat cream cheese with sugar and then slathered it all over -- there was probably like 1/2 C of frosting just on the one piece I had. It wasn't a huge piece, it was normal-sized . . . but well-frosted (and filled).

So my google ad on top of the forum right now is for Dove chocolate. It totally isn't fair.
|
Love the star trek reference! =) Yes, we are all going to stay on the train!
Saef, I love the way you wrote about the bakery... true, it is a hard part of the grocery store to pass by. I think I should probably start logging my food again. *sigh* I hate counting calories, especially because I feel like so much of what I'm doing is estimating. On the other hand, I'm well aware that when I start counting I tend to get obsessive, so I'm not sure the best way to handle things. Maybe something like sweets/dessert are ok twice a week, no seconds at dinner, etc. rather than strict counting/logging. What do all of you do? |
No Dove here. I've got Nissan Rogue ads.
|
I still have Dove and I refreshed! I haven't googled candy lately, so it shouldn't be from my browsing history. Ack.
I also love the Star Trek picture, Allison! |
I've got Dove, too. Sights like that are exactly why I religiously avoid the center two aisles of the drug store.
Love me some Captain Picard! BF and I sometimes watch old Star Trek TNG episodes on Netflix. We watched one just last night in fact. We joke that we wouldn't have dated if we had gone to high school together, didn't have much in common in HS, but we did both watch Star Trek. Iris, when I'm trying to lose weight I must track my calories, otherwise, a drink here or there slips in, seconds, BLTs. I tell myself I'm only cheating myself when I do that but my brain doesn't listen. I do have to watch myself bc like you said, I can get too obsessive about it and it takes me off the deep end. When I feel that happening I back off and what I've been trying lately is give myself a maintenance week when that happens. Perhaps you could log for a week to remind yourself of portion sizes and how much food you should be eating, not log for a week, log, etc. and see how that goes? |
Iris, the general rules like you're talking about work for me to maintain my weight, but not to lose. If I don't count I will eat more than I think I'm eating. That's okay for maintaining as long as I'm not eating too many servings of dinner or too many desserts, which is why I use those kind of rules in general, but if I don't have a running log there's no way I can stick to 1400 calories in a day.

Thanks goodness the food porn portion of this thread is over - right?
I have lost my cell phone. It is something I don't carry. I put it in a bag with dog stuff or in a compartment in my car. I have turned the house upside down but nothing. Have called it in the vain hope that I somehow dropped it and someone found it but nothing. So I went to the FIDO store after work. The nice young man there couldn't help me (except to put some kind of stop to anyone using the phone if they find it). He had the same phone as mine on the display but didn't have one to sell me. Ditto all the other phones under $100 - hmmm. And because I'm a pay-as-I-go customer and have over $155 in minutes it appears I now have to travel downtown to a special Fido corporate store to purchase a phone so I don't lose my minutes. I called the shopping centre where the phone stores are located but none of them could give me the phone# for the corporate store. :tantrum: :club: Dagmar :stars: |
Dagmar, did you read my lost cell phone story on another thread ? It is almost identical to yours. I have a pre paid cell, too and have about 1900 minutes I didn't want to lose. I came that close to buying a new cell and went home and tried again, I was sitting at my computer when the thought came to me "Look in the blue bag", The blue bag is a tote bag I have used once in five years, I NEVER use it, but my cell was in there. My suggestion stop looking for a little while, don't buy a new one yet, maybe it will come to you as mine did for me.

bargoo I did read your cell phone posts. I don't use mine but I have to have it in the car should an emergency with the dogs/car/me come up. All 3 have and I've had to make phone calls to clients who work at home and would have been very worried otherwise. I took a quick look around for pay phones on my travels yesterday and there are NONE. I guess the expectation is that everyone now has a cell.
Kinda funny  that I'm one of the "unphone" people, along with DH, his buddy Rob, and my friend Karen. I'm now seeing young kids (girls mostly :() walking around with only one hand free. The other is clutching their phone/pad/whatever. They periodically stop  and stare intently at the thing in their hand. They remind me of me when I was 11 and started smoking. I thought I was the coolest thing around and I now know I looked incredibly DUMB. :o Dagmar :dizzy: |
Weight the same as last week. Exactly the same. How can that be? My time of month is over, and I've been watching my portions nearly all week, to the point that I was hungry on several occasions and getting cranky.
I wish I knew how much of the weight gain to attribute to really focusing on working with free weights three hours a week, to gain more upper body strength, which has indeed visibly affected the shape of my arms, back and shoulders. I really got into that after moving Upstate, to give me something to focus on. But I don't want to kid myself, either. Living in denial was one of the ways I kept myself fat and then grew even fatter. Not understanding that choices had consequences got me up past 250 pounds. I need to work harder at this. |

Good luck , I hope you find it and don't have to buy a new one. |
I over ate at dinner last night. I honestly think it was intentional. Usually my calories come in around 1300-1450 and they were dangerously close to 1600. Weight? Up half a pound. It was supposed to be the other way around. I guess I'm NOT one of the lucky ones who can go over in calorie allotment and still lose.
|
I abandoned calorie counting yesterday in favor of graham crackers. It's not the graham crackers that cause the problem , it is the butter I put on them. I didn't gain, but I didn't lose, either. Thankfully, I have no more graham crackers in the house.
|
I've known people who put butter or margarine on graham crackers. I've tried it but it didn't appeal to me at all. I prefer them plain--if I eat them at all. I don't even like s'mores. Trader Joe's has a rosemary raisin cracker that is to die for with cream cheese and raspberry chipotle salsa on top.
