If I wait until after dinner, it's too late). Since I figured that out, my nighttime snacking is now only due to emotional or bored eating. Bargoo, and Becky. Ow. I'm sorry you have/had to experience that. It sounds very painful. |
Becky, when I first broke imy shoulder I actually slept in my clothes, only forced myself into clothes when I had to go to the Doctor. I am sure people in the neighborhood were wondering "who is that strange woman, in a bathrobe , with her arm in a sling out walking a dog" . I tried walking him early in the AM or after dark so I wouldn't be seen. I am past that part, thankfully. Sometimes people wonder why I don't take my coat off when it is so darn hot in the room. I would rather be too hot than struggle in and out of my coat more than necessary. I did the same with hair that you did, I had nice long hair that I could wear many ways, but had to admit I just couldn't do it anymore, so it is cut pretty short. After all those years of letting it grow, I don't think I will ever have long hair again. About surgery the surgeon said "it may help with the pain and it may help with the movement". I thought those odds were not good enough to go through such a long surgery so declined. I have enough movement to get by. I had a friend that did the same thing I did and had surgery, she didn't have any more movemet than I did. There are worse things that could happen, it actually is kind of funny at times. Recently I was at dinner with family and my DS and DIL to be, someone proposed a toast and I couldn't raise my glass !

I was just reading an article in my Master's swimming magazine about a guy whose impingement eventually tore out the muscles in his rotator cuff. He had the bone shaving to increase the room and had muscles reattached; it was a full year before he had the range and strength back. He was told, though, that if he didn't have it done he would eventually lose the use of the arm. I guess I'd reconsider if that were the option, but until then, like you, I am going to explore EVERY other possibility. :)

My MIL once went in for shoulder surgery. She was told it was for something rather minor, but once in, they determined it was in fact a rotator cuff tear and proceeded to repair it. It took over a year to heal and she still has pain in that shoulder. A few years later, she had a similar problem with the other shoulder and a new doctor knew right away it was rotator cuff tear. He proceeded to repair it in a different fashion and MIL never had pain post op and didn't need nearly the PT, either. Her arm is a little misshapen if you know where to look but hey, it beats pain any day!

Outstanding meal with friends: "blue" sashimi-grade grilled tuna, with grilled onion butter, tomato couscous, and sautéed mushrooms. Mmmmm! :)

DH and I had my birthday/our 17th "anniversary" cake last night - a small one but we still ate it all :ink:. I was so :tired: I don't really have a memory of whether it was good or not. No other "cake" occasions until his birthday next year.
Apparently I've been eating more than a "few" extra cals to get through the winter months. I'm going to have to join the next dieting thread and lose the winter weight - it's now no longer bloat or temporary gain or whatever. I can't get through the winter without eating more - I felt like falling down :faint: last night @ 7 p.m. after I finished my last walk in the howling wind. DH made dinner and did the dishes as he could see I was swaying from fatigue when I stood up. Ate my cake and went to bed. Too tired to shower or brush my teeth. I wish I could take one weekend off and go to a hotel and stay in bed and read. SIGH. I'm getting a new notebook today for logging and will start tomorrow. We are having dinner at a place also called the "Pour House" tonite. DH might be getting a bookkeeping job :D with the company who runs a chain of those types of restos so we're going to check one out for my birthday dinner. Good Saturday all! Dagmar :sumo: |
Dagmar, this is the place to come to for challenges. Most of us have been around awhile and are meeting different challenges. My biggest challenge is keeping off what I have already lost. It is a day by day challenge.
|
Dagmar, we ate at the Pour House on Wednesday. Not sure if it's part of a chain though--it's situated within a private country club.
I'm down half a pound this week. I was really hoping for a full pound, but I'll take what I can get. |
Allison, good news on the half a pound.
My motto, "If I don't get what I want, want what I get." |

Great job on the half pound Allison!
A full week after the Mexican fiasco of last weekend, and the 4 lbs from it is gone. Maybe a smidge more, hard to say. I've been very active the last two days, POP with food, and am feeling good! :carrot: Dagmar, enjoy your date tonight and GL to DH's interview. Winter can be tough. I can't imagine how I would deal with it health-wise if I lived in a place with a true winter again. I read your posts about being outside all day on a cold, rainy winter day, Saef's posts about pouring water to unfreeze her door handle at 5 AM to go to the gym and can't imagine that kind of commitment to getting outside in such cold. I'm afraid I would just hibernate, not work out and eat too much. At any rate I admire you for going out day after day in the weather. |
Hello everyone.....
Been too busy to check in much. Still haven't felt great either-- headache off and on since last Sunday. Dh left yesterday for Asia for 2 weeks-- my bookfair starts Monday-- did the teacher previews on Thursday-- so I'm going to be very busy in the next week. I always have trouble making it to the gym when I have bookfair because my hours are so much longer, but I'll do my best. I went to Bikram Yoga yesterday (it was really hard-- not sure if it was the heat/humidity or my not feeling 100%), and I'm going to try to go today and tomorrow. Hopefully that will offset if I miss a day or two or three next week. I told dd I'd try to make dinners this week but it's going to be a struggle. I spent way too much money yesterday so I need to eat beans for awhile!! Dd and I went shopping for her dress for her Senior Ball-- luckily we found one! Then my iphone died. I've had issues with it and couldn't get it back on. I went to ATT and they couldn't get it going either. They said *maybe* the Apple store could help, but I knew that would be $$$$. Since we no longer have a home phone, and dd is out of state and dh out of the country, I felt vulnerable without a phone, so I went ahead and upgraded to the new iphone. Now Siri and I will have to get to know each other..... |
I would love to know Siri, but my google accounts and Siri do not get along well...so i am likely getting the droid 4. I have had my droid since the very first edition, Xmas 2009. I've beaten the heck out of it. We both need to move on.
Now, I need to figure out how to download my phone pics/ vid and pull the trigger on the purchase. update- I ran this Thurs! about 3.5ish. Lost 4 pound b/w Thurs and Fri ;). My body was saying thank you :) Of course, put those mostly right back, except the first- which I'm cool with. And did another 5ish this am. Woohoo. happy weekend to all! |
I posted yesterday in two different threads and now can't find either one... I think my computer hates me. No time to recap, back later.
Kitty - you'll totally rock your race. :) |
Love my Droid! DH, DS and I all had the first Droid, DD got the Droid X and now DH and I have the Droid Razr (DS "graduated" to the iPhone which he'd wanted since it came out but I refused to change to ATT).
