Good Morning Ladies, Hope eveyone is doing well. I had a bit of a delima Tuesday. My DGS spilled a glass of grape juice on my new (less that a month old) carpet. I cleaned it up as good as i could but got up the next mornng to a huge pink spot. I had to work that day, worried aobut it all day, and started cleaning as soon as I got home. I sprayed stain remover on it and used the machine to clean it. I got up this morning and it seems to be home. Keep your fingers crossed for me. I am going out this morning to pull weeds from the garden. It's simply too hot here during the day and evening to get out and do anything. Now, how many calories does pulling weeds burn?

I ccould never be the "correct" weight either. That would make me 105. Believe me, I was that when I was young and I was a stick! It was not pretty!! And boney would be a good word for me. Who comes up with these perfect weights anyway? Do they take real women into account?

Trader Joe's isn't real close to me but I do go there about once a month. Love the things I find! I get their yogurt too, but I can't get enough to store in-between times so I use the Dannon the rest of the time too.

I agree with you guys too, about finding new muscles with different exercise. I think we just get our own little routines down and work those muscels and get used to it. Mixing it up always finds some new muscle groups. I walk all the time, but couldn't believe how sore my thighs got when I started riding bikes with the kids.

Eveyone , make it a good day Freda

Hi everyone!

Re: Yogurt....I like plain greek yogurt with some honey mixed in, or mixed with fruit and a little splenda. It IS expensive( the cheapest I've found is 1.79 for a single serving), so I usually only buy 2-3 a week. I like Dannon's Light n Fit; I use the big tub of Vanilla for smoothies.

Lily--Yep, sounds like you need a new partner. Your partner reminds me of my friend who is getting married in October. This may sound petty, but I am very concerned her wedding dress that she bought in November/December is not going to fit. She has visibly gained a good amount of weight since then. She tries to start diets all the time, but doesn't seem to want to put forth the effort. The wedding is 2 months away; She's just saying "it's cool, I'll go on a diet and lose a ton of weight really fast" ::sigh:: But then she gets fast food or goes out for dinner every night.

Wow. I can tell I haven't been to yoga in a while! I went Tuesday and my Ab's still hurt!

I better get going....have a great day!

Good morning everyone, thanks for the well wishes! I slept pretty well last night and I'm feeling much better today (so far at least). I even got my butt out of bed and took the dog for a wog first thing in the morning!

I read all your posts but then I totally zoned out and forgot what everyone said. Sorry!

Geez, Pat, look at all these people, rubbing in the fact that they live near the amazingTrader Joe's! (Note the heavy sarcasm people! Way to make me feel bad!)

Jk, jk. Like Pat there isn't a TJ within hundreds of miles of me. The funny thing is that I've never even been to a TJ's. They just sound so wonderful b/c I always hear everyone talking about them and the great, healthy things you can buy there!

I feel more energized and less sore today. I think I might have been that sore my first week of NRLW...otherwise, I can't remember being that sore since field hockey pre-season camp in high school! Shoulders today, and will try to get some running in as well.

DGA, that would be really terrible if your friend's dress didn't fit - they can take dresses in, but not out! Could you (or her mom or sister or someone) suggest an extra fitting "to go make sure her accessories and shoes match the dress" or something like that - maybe it will make her face reality? I can't imagine how terrible it would be to discover your dress just doesn't fit, no way, no how, a few days before your big wedding you'd worked so hard to plan.

Freda, I hope the stain stays gone. Weeding can burn a lot of calories, and all that up and down is good for the glutes!

Lily, oh my. At least she doesn't eat the donuts in front of you? It's funny how something we don't think of as "hard" can still make us sore, just b/c we haven't been working those muscles.

I would guess that since a lot of us do work out to maintain our weight loss, we probably have a higher muscle content than the average population, further contributing to our skewing of the medically "proper" weights for our heights.

Have a great Thursday everyone!

LOL about Trader Joe's. We have a couple near us (but still farther away than whole foods and fresh market). Honestly, I am not a huge fan of TJ's, and it never seemed to me like a really healthy store. TJ's carries mostly processed and prepared foods - they have a teeny little produce section usually. When I was in high school, we always called it "the bachelor store" because all of our single male teachers shopped there, I assume to use their prepared meals. We could tell because whenever they needed paper bags in class they were always TJ's bags!

In any case, the main things I buy at TJ's are frozen fish, cheese, beer, and wine. If I spend too long in that store I come away with mochi ice cream, pralines, various frozen desserts, snack foods, pizza, juice drinks . . .

So I took the dog for a walk/jog this morning, and my legs are already sore! That was quick. I didn't even go very far and I walked 90% of the time.

I really want to like Trader Joe's. I go in to shop and come out with nothing!

I also haven't had much luck at Trader Joe's. Mine is small and always crowded. I need someone with experience to go with me to point out all of the good stuff!

Oh gosh, when I lived in Seattle in 2000, the TJs there was HUGE, and had a great produce section, as well as lots of frozen goodies. (They also had the only bottled water that my DH - who was having cancer treatments - liked the taste of, but that's another story) There was also a Whole Foods about a mile away so I could hit both in one trip. Sigh. There were things I really liked about living there - just not why we were there.

Dawg, your friend will probably have a sad day when she tries on that wedding dress and it doesn't fit. She'll find out that losing a ton of weight really quickly doesn't usually work for most of us.

I wish we had a Trader Joe's nearby, but there isn't one. I'd like to try the cherry butter that I read others on here were eating.

I played golf last night in the couple's scramble with DH. I did pretty poorly. It was a new rule last night and we were only able to choose 3 clubs and had to use just those 3 the whole time. Since I can barely play to start with, welll this made me even worse. Oh well, I did get in some extra walking trying to find my ball in the nearest ditch!

I had another great workout today. My workout partner did come but she was hateful and snotty today. Maybe PMS. I had mentioned she is my son's XGF and she isn't getting the X part of that equation. Anyway she spent her time griping at me for eating Low Carb foods and telling me it was gonna kill me. I told her "yeah, the donuts you brag about are so much healthier than my grilled meat, salad and green veggies." So then she said "I really don't hardly ever eat anything and I don't normally eat meat, vegetables or any fruits." So, to each his own! Sorry for my rant, but it's superfrustrating when someone that has never attempted to lose weight tries to tell someone that is losing weight what they are doing wrong!

Lily - If she doesn't eat meat, vegetables, or fruit, she isn't eating much of anything nutritious at all! I guess she might get some protein from dairy and eggs. I don't understand why this person, who is so against being healthy, even goes to the gym at all!

Well, better to eat badly and go to the gym than to eat badly and not go to the gym. At least she is exercising--it would be worse for her to eat that poorly and not exercise at all. The exercise must be at least slowing her weight gain. And if she hangs in there with the exercise, maybe she'll eventually come around on the diet. It was a couple of months of exercising before I started trying to improve my diet.

Lily, she's not trying to tell you that you are eating wrong; she's trying to tell herself that! If she admits that you are eating right, then she has to admit to herself that she is eating wrong. She clearly isn't ready to do that yet. The fact that you are succeeding probably only makes her feel worse. Before I started trying to lose weight, I remember being very discouraged to see someone else successfully lose weight. It made me feel guilty about not trying to do something to control my own weight. (Although I hope I would never have behaved as shamefully as she is!) Also--did I get that right? Your workout partner is your son's ex-girlfriend? That's pretty amazing--I can't imagine ever working out with any of my ex-boyfriends parents. You are a champ for putting up with her.

Good Morning, I had planned to sleep in this morning. For me sleeping in is 7 oclock or so...but they started working on the road a couple of houses down from me this morning. Might as well get some stuff done while i'm up. I get to go shopping today for my 8th month charm. I get a charm for my pandora charm bracelet for every month I don't gain.

DGA, Your friend is going to be wrecked when she tries her dress on and it doesn't fit! I agree, someone needs to talk her into trying it on again now, so she can get something done before it's too late.

Lilly, it's always easier to work out with some one, but you can't rely on people to be there. I've had several exercise partners that have fallen along the way, diet buddies too. I think barbara is right, she's not willing to admit she's wrong. I'm not really on speaking terms with any of my son's x-gf's so I think you must be a saint!

Jessica, Hope you're still feeling ok.

Oh, and the stain is back. Faded, but still there. Any one have any good suloutions that might work? I'm open to anything right now.

Make it a good day, Freda

Hi Everyone! We finally made it to Friday!

Ugh,my eating has just been crummy this week. I was in charge of a 16-year old visitor from England at work. His uncle is the president of the client company I work on the account for. There was a lot of eating out....actually, everyday we had lunch out. I did my best to choose good choices, but I still feel "ugh".

Big weekend ahead!! Tonight, Boy and I are going to see "Gone With The Wind" at the old theater downtown; I've never seen it on the big screen and I am so excited! There is a costume parade and mint juleps before! Boy, however, is hoping it sells out...

And tomorrow we have the Dave Matthews Band concert. In a baseball park. Outside. In 101+ degree heat. Oh. Yay.

Re: My friend....she can be very defensive, so I'm not sure how to approach her about the dress. I may take Megan's advice and just inquire if she's gone for a fitting or something. But, knowing her, i can see her saying she doesn't want to put it on cause she wants to lose weight first.

Do we have a baby, Lisa?

Ok, I'm off to make some breakfast. Have a great day!

Dawg - Both of my brothers (and their wives) are UGA grads. I went to Tech, though.

Today is day 3 of my visit with the ILs. My parents are coming to dinner tonight, too. So far, so good on the eating, but I can feel the stress building. It must be time to go work out.

Have a good day, guys.

Morning everyone! I'm still feeling pretty okay so maybe I just had a virus or something. I'm glad it's Friday because that means I can sleep a whole lot tonight!

We're having our cooking group's meetup at our house this weekend. I picked pretty healthy recipes for most of the dishes, but of course there will be splurges and dessert. The main dish we're making is stuffed chicken. Rather than hoping that the people we buy chicken from will have enough at the farmer's market, we drove out to their farm to buy some last night. It turns out it's cheaper if you buy it at the farm! Now we have a freezer full of chicken.

My calories went over yesterday. I made some bad food choices. I'm hoping today I won't be so hungry like I was yesterday. In retrospect I think I was so hungry because I worked out in the morning and didn't eat immediately afterwards. It's been so long since I worked out in the morning that I'd forgotten that if I don't eat within 30 minutes I'll be starving all day!

I am kind of sad that I just ended the month of August up nearly 3.5lbs from where I started it. I feel like I gained water weight that just never went away. I'm hoping my labs will show that it's related to my thyroid rather than just from me eating too much!
