I bought a 5.3 oz blueberry greek yogurt the other day. It was $1.79. I tried the honey flavor a couple of weeks ago, and I didn't like it, so this is your last chance, greek yogurt!

Hi all,

I did chest & abs yesterday and am sooooore today. Obviously previous workouts weren't hitting the sides of my pecs by my armpits. I rode on the bumpy boat this morning with my arms crossed clutching my chest (to prevent bouncing) with my hand in my armpits (to keep the bouncing from pulling at the sore areas). I'm sure I looked like Mary Catherine Gallagher from SNL.

It took forever to fall asleep last night so I'm trying to just power through the afternoon and get through my workout (legs today). Keep going, keep going.

Pat, I think a 16 oz. container of Greek yogurt at the store in the big city costs $4-5. I remember being surprised at the high price compared to other yogurts and didn't buy it.

DGA, glad the shower was fun. Got any pictures to post of you in the tp wedding dress?

Barbara, people think I'm over the top and nutty too. I've gotten over it! And I would also take "bony" as a compliment, given my weight history, lol!

Michele, I hope you feel better soon. I also could never get close to my so-called correct weight of 125. Maybe if I didn't exercise, and didn't eat very much... doesn't seem like fun to me. But it's just not realistic for my body frame. I would be completely emaciated.

Lily, how exciting Shane is coming home for a visit!

Must stay awake... must be peppy...

Megan-- LOL picturing you on the boat!

I am sore today too but on the back side of my back, under my arm-- I have no idea what those muscles are called!

I took my younger dd to the gym with me today. I hope she'll start coming with me. She is 13. It was funny because before we worked out she was so smug that she was in better shape than me. I said I was going to do 60 minutes on the elliptical and she could do what she wanted-- elliptical, weights, treadmill, whatever. She said she would do 60 minutes with me. She couldn't begin to keep up with me-- it was funny though she didn't think so! Her heart rate was getting too high and I told her to slow it down. She got mad at me and said I told her to slow down so I could go further! She ended up doing 40 minutes and then waiting in the car for me for 20 minutes. Hopefully I can get her to go again and I didn't burn her out totally!

Hi everyone, I'm home from my gym workout. My workout partner has now missed 4 days in a row and me going solo may become reality. I am getting to know other people some now as it seems that at 9AM the same folks are there each day.

Thanks for all the well wishes for my DS getting to come home to visit on Sept. 20th. I anxiously await his visit.

Shelbey returns home today from Las Vegas. I'm a little nervous to see her cause I don't want to discuss the issues of her mom's surgeries or the child support stuff. I know she will press me on it. I believe I'll just tell her those topics are totally off-limit and to discuss it with her dad if she feels she needs to talk about it. Thankfully DH will get home tonite and he can field these topics. (I do have to pick her up this evening at the airport).

What brand did you buy? I can't stand the Greek Gods brand, but I like Fage and the Trader Joe's brand (which is cheaper).

I've given up dairy, but when I was eating dairy, I did prefer the Greek-style yogurt to regular yogurt like Nancy's. Even when I strained Nancy's, I still couldn't get it to the consistency or taste of Greek yogurt.

Megan - LOL about crossing your arms! I hate sore pecs, it always feels like sore armpits to me.

I bought Greek yogurt last week for the first time (Fage strawberry). It was quite tasty. Lately in keeping with my move toward local food, I've been buying yogurt from a local organic dairy (the place I got married, actually!). My only problem with their yogurt is that it is quite liquidy. You can basically drink it. I'm considering trying to strain it but I feel like somehow if I don't eat everything in that bottle I am not getting my money's worth. I know I have to pay more for local and organic yogurt where the cows are free-range and grass-fed, but it is $5 for a bottle (milk bottle sized).

I'm feeling kind of out of sorts today. Last night I was exhausted (for no apparent reason) and went to bed at 9:00. At 1:30am, the dog decided he was really thirsty and really had to pee, so he woke us up to let him downstairs and in the backyard. I totally couldn't get comfortable in bed and was awake every hour the rest of the night. I barely made it out of bed this morning at 6:40, then I felt dizzy and jittery. I took my pulse sitting at the kitchen table and it was 102. I think it's slowed down a little now, but I am still kind of dizzy and have a bit of a headache, and I feel like I could sleep all day.

I'm trying to figure out if this is a virus, a thyroid thing, a medication side effect, or if I've gotten an infection from the biopsy I had done last week (I feel a little feverish but don't have a thermometer to take my temp with). I'm hoping my blood test results will come in today.

Good morning all! I haven't posted in an age but have been reading. After a gazillion tests (which will likely cost a gazillion $$) it has been determined I have boring, run of the mill, gall bladder disease. I just didn't have typical symptoms. I'll be having laprascopic surgery on Monday. Hopefully I'll feel better. At least I haven't gained while being stressed but I haven't lost much either, about 3 pounds. It seems if you're going to feel bad you ought to at least lose weight. Anyway
Meg You're an inspiration
LisaMarie I hope the baby comes soon.
Lily Glad you'll be able to see Shane soon.
Paperclippy Drain the yogurt and bake with the whey leftover. I use it everytime I make yogurt cheese.

Everyone else Have a great week!

Hello All! I hope you'll take me in as a maintainer now in your lovely forum! I've spent most of my time here in "That 70's Show" "Slim Fasters" and "20-somethings"...I've recently taken up "Cool Runners" and was able to post my "Goal Story" last night as I reached goal this past weekend. You can see that in my signature line.

I've lost 73lbs in 10 months and will probably lose another 10lbs or so...but feel that I have met and am happy with my original goal....although there is just a feeling that another 10lbs may make me a bit happier with my figure. I run 3-5 miles/day and strenth train 5 days per week. I'm working at becoming a competitive runner and toning my body...although from the photos I took yesterday, I'm fairly happy with how my legs have turned out thus far.

In any case, I'm happy to join if you'll take me and hope to post often here!

Amanda,
Welcome! Your photos and your story are inspirational. You lost your weight very quickly. Welcome to maintaining. I am fairly new to maintaining and still trying to figure out what I need to do to stay here!

Jessica,
I hope you feel better! It definitely sounds like you have something going on.

I'm taking my two dd's to lunch today to a restaurant that sounds really neat but I haven't been before. I hope to find some good choices.
Then, Friday is my 21st wedding anniversary and I have booked a restaurant in San Francisco. It looks fabulous and not low calorie! I am trying to be extra perfect the rest of the time and at the gym to hopefully not gain any more (I'm still up 2 pounds from my recent trips)

OK, DS is asleep and I have a couple minutes, so I'll try to slip in some personals today! I really do get a lot from you guys even when I'm not able to post much and do appreciate it, and it is nice to return the favor when I can.

Welcome, Freda, WardHog & Amanda! I know I'm a little late, but trying to get caught up.

Meg, I'm so lucky that DS is such an easy baby, and I've just switched back to fully caffeinated coffee. I missed it so much. I do watch my intake since I'm nursing of course, but I feel just so much more like a human being now. OK, I'm an addict--I can live with that. How are things lining up with your knee surgery?

Jessica, I'm glad Carter can go to the dog park. Ours were always so badly behaved we got kicked out. My favorite dog was a fighter, and strange dogs were always a little nerve racking.

Megan, one day at a time is the only way to do it. Unless it is one second at a time hanging on by your fingernails...

hi bargoo, DG, Gary, Pat, sheila, Lisa!

Lily, congrats on the anniversary and getting your weight loss turned around. I'm so glad to hear Shane is coming for a visit.

Michele, I hope you are feeling better fast and the cold is a mild one. And if the standard is 5 pounds for every inch over 5 feet, I'm going to have to find a way to grow to be 7 feet tall, because I think that would be easier for me than losing that much more.

Barbara, LOL bony knees!

The boss is calling...gotta go.

Hi all,

Got better sleep last night and consequently feel better today. My chest is still very sore and abs a little sore from Monday's workout, and my legs are slightly sore from yesterday. I haven't been this sore in a long time. I don't know if I like it! I'm getting the message that I haven't been hitting my muscles from enough directions.

Anne, I'm glad to hear you're enjoying your coffee again and that DS is a relatively easy baby!

Amanda, glad you joined us! Congratulations on all of your accomplishments so far!

joyofsix, nice to "see" you. I hope your surgery is uncomplicated and helps you to feel better. I never lose weight when I'm sick either, it doesn't seem fair (just kidding, I know that's not a healthy way to lose weight!).

Jessica, sorry to hear you're feeling so off. I hope the dr. can help.

Lily, it's sad, but I've learned that you can't rely on a gym partner to always go with you to the gym! I've met a lot of new people and always see familiar faces when I go now, though.

Why do Wednesdays always go by so slowly?

WaterRat: I think that's about what Trader Joe's charges for 16 oz of Fage around here. The Fage stuff is pretty expensive. Luckily, they sell 16 oz of their own brand of Greek Yogurt (which I like better than Fage anyway) for only $2.79.

paperclippy: Ugh! I hate yogurt that is liquidy. I want to eat my yogurt, not drink it! When you strain the yogurt, I think you are mainly just straining out the water in it, and it's not really the water you're paying for (if that makes you feel any better about straining it). Sorry you're not feeling well; I hope you figure it out.

gatoramanda: Welcome! Congratulations on reaching your goal weight! You look fabulous. You're right, your legs have toned up quite nicely!

joyofsix: Well, at least you know what it is now, even if it isn't that exciting. It might be just as well that you didn't lose weight; whenever I lose weight from an illness, it comes back with friends as soon as I am well. I hope the surgery goes well.

Megan: Being a little sore is good! It means you are building muscle. It also doesn't necessarily mean that you weren't working those muscles before, it might just mean that you worked them a little harder this time. My butt and legs experience a little soreness quite frequently from my workouts with my trainer and I have no doubt that we are working those muscles all the time.

lilybelle: I'm sorry your workout partner has been a flake lately, but I think it's great that you are going on your own. I am fine with doing cardio on my own but I really hate to do strength training on my own. If I have to, I will, but it's one of the reasons I continue to pay for a personal trainer. Maybe you could take some classes, then you wouldn't have to work out on your own. I've sometimes done that when my trainer has had to cancel sessions, rather than work out on my own. An iPod also really helps with solo workouts.

wndranne: Nice to hear from you even if only briefly! For a minute there I thought you were actually working and I thought that you had an awfully short maternity leave. But then I figured out that "the boss" is probably DS!

Sheila53: Are you vegan? I could never give up dairy. I'm not much of a milk drinker, but I love my yogurt, cream cheese, and cottage cheese far too much to ever give them up.

Jessica, sure hope you feel better soon.

As for the yogurt discussion , I've been buying Dannon Light and Fit, it's 60 calories, no added sugar and only 3 carbs. It tastes pretty good to me.

Michele, my wedding anniversary was the 28th of July, it was our 10th. We are planning to take a trip in late Sept. or early October when it's not so hot.

On that standard of 5 lbs. for every inch over 5 ft. , I can't maintain at that weight either. Maybe 30 yrs. ago I could, but not now.

Megan, I'll join you in the being sore. My legs are really sore today . It's weird, the exercise bike is what made me sore. I don't usually do it cause to me it is boring. I normally use the stairstepper, treadmill and elliptical. On a whim I did 15 min's extra cardio on that bike yesterday and now my thighs feel like lead. Fortunately today was my UBWO plus cardio and I managed a total of 2 hrs. at the gym.

Megan and Barbara, my workout partner did show up to workout today. It was kinda irritating cause she kept talking about how starving she was cause the 2 chocolate donuts she had for breakfast were wearing off. Poor thing. Of course I did inform her that donuts are nothing but sugar, fat and carb's and off course they wear off quick and make you hungry all day. She just laughed and said "I know and I'm gonna eat 2 more when I get home". BTW, since we started working out she has gained weight instead of lost any.

Morning all

Anne - good to see you. Bet that DS growing quickly.

Barbara - well, I was at the store this morning, and ready to shell out the $$ for the Greek yogurt - and they were out. We don't have Trader Joe's (I got totally addicted when I lived in Seattle) but I'll have to try some next time I'm around one.

Jessica - I don't like liquidy yogurt either. I'm with the others, strain it and use the whey in cooking. You could use it in oatmeal as well as baking.

Joy/Lisa - sorry to hear about the gall bladder, but everyone I know who's had the surgery has recovered quickly, and better felt sooo much better.

I did a decent cardio workout yesterday, and have my stuff in the car for another tonight. Since my evening meetings have slowed down - only one this week - I can resume what is supposed to be my routine.

Welcome gatoramanda, I'll have to go check out your goal post. You did lose fast - it took me about 18 months to lose ~70 lbs, but then I'm much older than you.

WaterRat: I figured you probably didn't have a Trader Joe's up there in Alaska. The Fage isn't bad--I'll eat it in a pinch when the TJ's brand is out--it's just expensive and I don't like it quite as much as TJ's.

Lilybelle: Sounds like you need a new workout partner!
