I also tried the slim fast diet a couple months ago, but it just did not work for me, I was always hungry! the south beach diet it basically three phases, the initial phase is a two week phase where you cut out sugars, carbs, fruit, ect. to stop cravings (so far so good for me)! and you eat protein rich foods and lots of most veggies (minus potatos, carrots, and a few others). Phase 2 is after the two weeks and you reincorporate certain foods like brown rice and whole-wheat bread (nothing white) etc. and you get fruit back! and phase 3 is maintaining by eating healthy like on phase 2. I have only been on this a few days but i already love it! it is so much easier to follow because i am never hungry (they stress having three meals with two snacks, and even a sugar-free desert!) which was always such an issue for me on previous diets, and i get to eat my cheese (low-fat of course)! I will be sure to keep you posted on how it goes
