Smile New to the Neighborhood

I found this site while browsing. It seems like a pretty friendly and supportive group here and I thought that joining might help keep me motivated to lose that last 15 pounds of baby weight I earned during my recent pregnancy. Perhaps I can encourage others as well!

Although my usual method of weight loss is low carb based, I am not going there at this time since I am still nursing my little one and do not want to go into ketosis. Nor do I want to cut out whole food groups or reduce calories too low. So, my eating plan is to mainly focus on whole, healthful foods, with a moderate amount of fruit and starches and try not to snack too much as that seems to help me to digest and process meals better. Oh, and regular exercise is a high priority too!

I noticed there is a pregnant/breastfeeding forum here..can anyone also point me to a group that centers around eating natural foods, perhaps slightly lower in carbs? It would be great to be able to share thoughts or food ideas.

Thank you!

Hello Heather,
Welcome to the group and congrats on the baby. My name is Heather too. There is a section for low carb on here. I just started doing low carb my nutritionist has me subtracting fiber grams from my carb total - so it isn't hard to do low carb with fiber rich foods. Not sure that I will ever rich ketosis but I'm not starving either.
Good luck getting started and I hope you find a plan that works well for you!
Heather
